Oliver is not even the best DT on this team. Too many excuses from some on this thread for his poor showing over course of last season.......i.e., he was injured, "taped up too much", blah, blah, blah.

Bottom line, if we can get a 5th or better for Oliver, Beane is in hero territory.

Oliver should be traded as the cap savings would be monumental to where we could spend on the OFF and we could plug almost anyone into his slot to equate to his 2022 play/production.

If extended, Beane should be terminated.  Why over invest in under performers, it makes no sense. He needs too many things to be perfect to perform.

We won without him and lost with him.

I would want more than a 5th. For a hat it’s not worth it

  2. I am using my college daughter’s Sunday ticket app this year for the first time. When I login it says every live game but then when I hit ok it logs me out. Is this how everyone’s app is now unti the season starts?

Actually, the spike in COVID numbers in states that held the largest protests pales in comparison to the spikes in red states that re-opened early and with no mask-wearing protocols, where people pack into bars and restaurants.

Minnesota (where George Floyd was murdered) is adding about 250 cases a day.

Oregon, which has seen 22 straight days of protests in Portland, some as large as 12,000 people, is adding about 160 cases a day.

Meanwhile, Arizona, Texas, and Georgia are adding cases by the THOUSANDS every day.

Too-early reopening in states with no mask protocols has been responsible for VASTLY more infections than masked protests.

If you don’t believe me, go look at the numbers yourself.

Your statistics are misleading.  Oregon is a low density  unpopulated state so it will obviously have fewer cases.  It primarily depends on when states have opened up.  New York and and Michigan, Pennsylvania will see simlar spikes in infections in a month or two since they have just recently opened up.

I am not saying Yeldon has to be a fixture as the #2 RB.  I think he should be in the mix for touches.  He does have good hands.  Made some nice catches I believe in the preseason game at Detroit last year.  He is too talented to be inactive if not injured.  But I still feel we need to draft a big time RB to add to the mix.  RB's get nicked up all the time.  You need 3 talented guys to carry the rock over a season.  Yeldon can be number 3.  But he should still dress and be part of the game plan every week.

Dimarco gives us nothing even on Special teams.  That is an urban legend that he makes plays on special teams.  He is too slow and has no explosiveness.  He is expendable.

That is fine Freester.  Do you think we move up in the 2nd round if we have a chance at Dobbins or Taylor?

As I just told Gunner.  You need 3 solid RB's in the NFL to get thru a season.

I don’t think we trade up in the 2nd for anyone other than Espenesa.  If Dobbins or Taylor falls to us at 54 than we may take them.

Solid rosters don't win Super Bowls unless your QB plays at a very high level.  Hopefully Josh starts approaching that place.  Agree that some of our young talent needs to take the step.  I see high ceilings for Edmunds and Oliver.  Singletary is a solid player, but do you think he has the potential to have monster 1,400 plus seasons?   I don't really see that.  Thus the need for a high powered RB drafted early.  Knox could be special.  But needs to work on catching the ball.  And he needs to be incorporated into the game plan more w downfield passes.  (I would try and trade for OJ Howard w a late round pick)  Also don't sleep on Tommy Sweeney.  I think he has great upside.  And Yeldon is a solid NFL player.  Guy has a lot of tread left on the tires and needs to be given a chance to show what he can do.  Dimarco has no business being on an NFL roster at this point period.  Brings nothing.

I want Demarco gone but I think they bring in a RB in 3rd or 4th round to compete with Yeldon for all of Gores touches.

Disagree on Uche I think in the Bills scheme he is a 9 tech - essentially the Hughes position. But he isn't a starter there year 1 he might take longer to develop. Hughes had the exact same question as I recall when he came out in 2010. People asked if he was a tweener, would he be able to succeed as a defensive end in the NFL and he did have his early struggles in Indianapolis. But it clicked when he arrived here.

As for Harbaugh - I agree with your post. I don't expect him to be winning National Titles. That isn't a fair standard. But getting blown out time after time by Ohio State, losing 4 bowl games in a row, losing games to Wisconsin and Michigan State and Notre Dame.... that is an expectation.

And my main criticism is his big game record. In Bowl games, Conference Championships and Title games across the NFL and college Jim Harbaugh is 3-8. In the NFL of the three he lost only the last one (to Seattle) did he lose to a more talented team. The NFC title game against the Giants and the Superbowl against the Ravens the 49ers were the more talented team and lost. Jim Harbaugh doesn't win the big games. And the main reason for that is he has no nuance to his coaching style. He is full on intense. It is his only way of coaching.

I guarantee Harbaugh will never lose to Michigan state again but the losses to Notre dame and Wisconsin were tough losses against very good teams.  Harbaugh has never had a good QB at Michigan. Hopefully Mccaffrey will be better than the others.
Uche has never played with his hand on the ground. He rushes the passer like Lorax but he can’t cover. I’m not sure he is a good scheme fit.

I would be very happy with Edge, WR as our top two picks in the draft.  As a big Michigan fan I would be ecstatic if we draft Donovan Peoples Jones and Josh Uche in rounds 2 and 3 somehow.  Both are very talented players and excellent athletes.  They were certainly not the reason that Michigan has underwhelmed the past few years.  Blame that on a QB named Shae and a Head Coach named Jim.  I think both have a lot of upside (especially DPJ).  And their best football should be ahead of them.  Go Blue!  Go Bills.  DPJ is also good at returning punts if he doesn't let the ball just bounce by him, which happened several times at Michigan.

Uche is not a DE in our scheme. We need a DE as Addison andHughes are old, and Murphy is gone after this year.  While I like DPJ we should wait until the 4th round to draft a WR due to the tremendous depth and he may still be there in the 4th round.

Harbaugh has been a big disappointment.  We didn't hire him to beat Maryland and Northwestern.  Team does not play with a lot of confidence against good teams.  Hopefully things get better this year with Shae Patterson gone.  Need a big time QB to be a big time program.  Our best QB under Harbaugh was Jake Ruddock in 2015 who came in as a 5th year grad transfer from Iowa.  Hopefully McCaffrey or Milton raise the team to a higher level.

Harbaugh has been just fine. You’re delusional if you think you’re going to compete with the criminals and illiterates that Alabama, Ohio State and Clemson recruit.  Michigan has much high admission standards and that’s not going to change regardless of who the coach is.

Gus Johnson is the best sports announcer going.  Noone has his enthusiasm and his use of the English language is tremendous.  Him and Joel Klatt make a great team on Fox College Football.  Can't stand Herbie.  Acts like a know it all and thinks he is the Commissioner of College Football.  Fowler is good calling the game (and he is a big Metallica fan)  But ESPN college gameday by this point is so old news.  Maybe you have to be in your 20's to like it.  To me its just overkill.  Bring me the games.  Who has time for all the extra shtick.  Chris Spielman is very underrated.  Has great knowledge of the game.  And really good humor.  If you youngsters could have watched him play.  That was a football player.  As tough as they come.  So many of you talk about Matt Milano, and how good you think he is.  Back 20 years ago he would not have made it on the field at his size.  You had to be able to tackle.  And that meant putting someone on their ass.  I think Spielman had 26 tackles in the Michigan-Ohio State game in 1986.  Chew on that as you all start your day.

I just watched “A football life “ Chris Spielman. He was awesome. I wish we had him for more of his prime years. Herbie is awesome, one of the most knowledgeable TV guys out there. I just wish those two guys had gone to Michigan instead of Ohio State.
