He’s at least right about is not being able to run the ball.

We’ve used two 3rd round picks and a 2nd round pick on RBs in the last 3 years and we still don’t have a guy that can consistently carry the load for 15 or so rushes a game.

Asking Allen to throw it over 60 times is not a recipe for sustained success.

Just commit to Singletary as your lead back and treat him like one.

As Singletary gets chased down from behind by nose tackles...game after game after game...decent first move that can make people miss, but has ankle weights on and can't run.

He just had the number one defense in the league missing his top corner.  He's NEVER getting fired with results like that unless he has a huge beef with the head coach or GM.

If you can just decide to stop being a fan, then you really weren’t a fan to begin with. It’s easy to be in when things are going good. The real fans are still standing there when the dust settles and times are tough. I think we probably won’t make the playoffs now and last night absolutely wrecked me…but I still sat there depressing myself all day on the WGR app and on here and sure as ***** I will be there for every snap Sunday. The Bucs are going to humiliate us but there is 0 thought of not sitting through every second of it and just taking it.

If you really believe that then you need to go put $$ on TB now - since the line is -3.  This mean that Vegas believes that the Bills/Bucs is a tie on a neutral field.  Despite the Bills issues and lack of continuity so far, a lot of people still think they are a Superbowl favorite.

  4. Every year, there are a couple of high flying pre-season favorites that puke out.  For example, the Browns are sitting right there with 6 losses and like the Bills, they were a preseason super bowl favorite for some.  Last year, Tampa Bay went 7-5 through their first 12 games with an embarrassing blowout loss to the Saints that mirrored our Colts loss, and another bad showing against the Bears, and 3 straight November losses.  The Bucs were 7-5 (like us) going into their December 13th game against the Vikings, and they never lost again that season.  Like the Bills, they had a deep, talented roster and had to find their identity.  So far, our identity has been to piss away opportunities...but if we wake up this weekend, it could start a hot streak that wins the whole thing.

What were people saying last year when we beat a bunch of teams above .500? Pretty sure we had the best record against teams .500 or better? The same crap.

The teams needed to tighten things up… they gave up some opportunities… they’re capable of beating good teams and have crushed bad teams. They did the same thing last year. They got over their boogeyman in the Chiefs and lost a heartbreaker on the road against a good team.

The Titans needed everything to break right for them last night and it did. 76 TD run (that didn’t get called back for a hold), Circus Julio Jones catch (yeah I know it was PI), tipped pick. We gave them some opportunities and they took advantage. It happens.

Also, you’re misdefining pressure… the Bills had one of the highest pressure rates and have been consistently pressuring opposing QBs all year… it’s just a matter of whether they get a sack or not. You’re conflating the word sack and pressure. And don’t you think getting the ball out quick, an active AJ Brown and Julio Jones and the extra focus on Derrick Henry makes it a little more difficult to sack Tannehill?

The issue was that we had a 100 yard kick return called back because of Andre Smith (who had 2 bad penalties).  There's 7 right there.  We also have to stop kicking 24 and 28 yard field goals.  You go for it there, and if you're 50% on converting those to TD's you're still a point ahead of taking two field goals.

Last, we had AJ Epineza and Boogie Basham inactive.  Why?  WTF do we have FOUR backup linebackers in Metakavich, Dodson, Klein, and Smith ACTIVE - and two young stud pass rushers inactive when all those junk LB's do is special teams.  This game was lost earlier in the week when they decided who to play and who to sit.  I get that we need special teams studs, but most of that game is fair catches and touchbacks now - we could have brought pressure from guys that know how to get pressure.  Addison is soft and played way too many snaps.

  6. Can you imagine if the Pats would have won the game yesterday against Dallas?  It would have been a situation where everyone was blowing Belichick again nonstop for a whole week.  The Pats fans would be insufferable.  As it was, the officials almost gave the game to the Pats on multiple occasions.  They can go 0-500 in their next 500 and I wouldn't feel a single twinge of compassions for any Patriots fan.  They could draft the #1 QB with the first pick in the draft and lose that player to a career ending injury on their first NFL snap for 10 straight years, and I'd feel nothing for them - especially since there aren't any pre-Brady era Pats fans out there anyway.  Bandwagon addicted, smug, pompous a-hats.  Can't stand that franchise, and never will.

Need we remind ourselves that they once rated Josh Allen dead last - 32nd in the league behind the struggling Josh Rosen who had just been sent packing to Miami.

That list is rather humorous in hindsight.

2019 ranking were a joke, they had Drew Brees at #2 and Cam Newton at #16.  What a crock of crap :)

While that's true, I think we can recall how much the Chiefs got away with in that game too. I guess I'm trying to say it was made clear that depending on which officials you have that game day, it's different how much you can get away with and what is let go or called/not called.

In any event though with that being said, Bills OL was out played, but also some of it was do to a lot of holding Chiefs were constantly getting away with which in case forced Josh to hold the ball longer.

Definitely not saying that was the sole reason. I mean there were quite a few times Bills OL just got blown by and was in Josh's face before you knew it. All in all Bills got outplayed, bottom line. Just wish these games were called similar and consistent. One week they let teams hold basically all day and only maybe 1 flag gets thrown. The next week they call holding with the slightest touch.

It's frustrating and can make an impact on these games.

A huge factor will be whether the Bills can get the 1 seed and be at home, with fans and normal noise for the entirety of the playoffs next year.  I think that's as important as finding an upgrade.

You seem to have a lot of energy here. I don't want to argue, because I truly believe everyone has to find their own path here and that actually it's a bit of a problem that so many treatment programs do take a 12-step model because there are people who just can't relate.   Addiction is a horrid problem to which there seem no sure-fire treatments as of today and it sucks.

On the other hand, I wanted to respond because I kind of see three issues here:

    1) whether 12-step programs are a good approach to addiction treatment. you seem to acknowledge the benefit for some, I can acknowledge it's not for everyone so maybe we have more common ground here than it first appears?

    2) whether addiction (to alcohol or other) is, in fact, a lifelong issue - whether you're an "alcoholic forever"

    3) whether a strategy other than complete abstinence can be effective treatment

On the last point, I used Google to find something that I thought would be straightforward to read and in agreement with current research as far as I know it. (Some people confuse this with not knowing anything besides what I just Googled, but that's kinda their problem, not mine.).

    Here's what I found:

    https://www.health.harvard.edu/mind-and-mood/alcohol-abstinence-vs-moderation

    Conclusion:

Data from one study.  Success meant maintaining personal goal for >12 months.

    image.thumb.png.1a0ec654dbe0975b6e329731a8ade4f1.png

Their point being that for low levels of dependence by DSM-IV criteria, moderation might be successful but for higher dependence scores, success at abstinence -vs- moderation flipped from roughly 1:2, to 2:1 then to zippo success at the "moderation" thing.

I think most people who have gotten to the point where they're seeing impacts in their marriage, friends, work - are probably past the point where moderation will likely be a successful strategy.  But that's just my hunch, and if your mileage or the mileage of someone you know varies, I'm honestly delighted.

Provided a person puts some protections to others in place (they should never drink and drive), I don't think any treatment has the track record of success to say "my way or the highway" here, but some pathways do have more success than others.

PS I hope you're mistaken that AA and its sibling organizations will be dead as an organization soon because it helps a lot of folks.

I didn't mean to sound so snarky - and I agree that only total abstinence works for some.  I can see how that "techinically" makes them an alcoholic forever, if they literally have a single drink and immediately spiral back to rock bottom again.  However, I've found that often times alcoholics just trade going to AA meetings every day for drinking.  It's very cultish - much like a religion.  For some, all they can talk about is sobriety.  And man, the caffeine and energy drinks.  It's as if their addictive personalities and traits have to be expressed through another drug - the drug of acceptance from other for their newfound sobriety, or loads and loads of caffeine.  I dated a girl a few years back that cracked a red bull by 10 AM and didn't stop pounding them all day.   For others, it's exercise.  I have a buddy that does marathons, 50K races, 50 mile races, and 100 mile ultra-marathons.  He said sometimes 1/3 of the field is either a recovering narcotics (NA) or alcoholic (AA) - it's as if they never sought out a psychologist/therapist or ever truly looked within/inward to work on (and resolve or get to the root cause of) the addictive personality, they merely traded the destructive alcohol or drug addiction for a healthier alternative  - but still an addiction.  There's no calm, contentment, or peace of mind with any addiction - be it sex, drugs, scratch tickets, excercise, booze, whatever.  I ha.ve a golf buddy that is 8 years sober - smokes weed all day, every day - but won't touch a drink.  Odd thing is, he goes to an AA meeting almost every day (even when he travels for work and is out of town) - but can't live without a constant flow of THC.

What disturbs me is saying he was an alcoholic. I stopped drinking 17 years ago, and have not had a drink since, but I am still an alcoholic. Once a cucumber gets pickled it becomes a pickle to never be a cucumber again.

This is such AA regurgitated crap - you're not always an "alcoholic forever" any more than you have to "yield to a higher power" - the two stupidest things about AA (and why it will be dead as an organization soon) are the "once an alcoholic, forever an alcoholic" and all of the Jesus pseudo Christian crap... all the 12 steps and all that are fine, so is the sponsorship and regular meetings for those who need it, but those other two things aren't universal laws for drinkers.

Plus I think Frank can improve on Wentz numbers.

I see a Carson Wentz turnaround of Ryan Tannehill proportions about to take place.   They are the same player leaving the same situation.  Yeah, maybe Wentz doesn't have a Derrick Henry but Jonathan Taylor is no slouch and they have pieces that can play, good tight ends, etc.  Don't forget Wentz was probably taking the Eagles to the Super Bowl when Big D*!k Nick took them there just 3 seasons ago.

I AM a Bills fan.  They are my 2nd favorite team.  I've been rooting for the Bills all year.  I was a Josh Allen hater that's been converted into a Josh Allen fan....If you had won the game sunday, I'd be chearing on the Bills to win it all.  I'll be cheering for you all again next year, except when you play KC.

That's cool - I'm a Chiefs fan, grew up in southern Missouri and even though I live near Boston, MA now - all of my family back home are rabid Chiefs fans... They are all sympathetic to the Bills plight having been so close but not quite to the promised land for so long themselves.  Man, Mahomes is an amazing talent - how he wasn't the #1 overall pick escapes me.

Oh God no....NOBODY would accuse you of that!  I mean we all regularly go to other teams' boards to explain to them why our team is better.  It's super normal.

Zerevolt visiting our board days after the Chiefs game is over reminds me of that guy in a zombie movie that gets bit, but doesn't tell anyone - just kind of has a look on his face like he has to poop.  I think he wishes he was a Bills fan, maybe there's something the mafia brings that he's missing in his Chief's fandom and life

I think it's unfair to make a comparison like this because it's two vastly different eras and I don't think it's fair to throw Jim Kelly under the bus like this. That said I do feel like Kelly was partially responsible for the loss that day. Keep in mind that we had a very unique offense at the time that he was terrific at executing as the field general but that offense was a bit of an Achilles heel on that day. If the Bills had slowed it down a bit and consumed some clock it would have been a real difficult game for the Giants because their whole game plan was a plodding methodical offense aimed at keeping us off the field and they weren’t going to score a lot. If Kelly had called Thurman’s number more he would have had 300 plus yards and the Giants defense would have had to adjust and stack the box to stop him which would have opened up the middle of the field for the pass and Reed would have had a field day. But it wasn't just Kelly that is to blame on this, the Giants coaching staff game planned much better than the Bills did and the point that we only had one week in between the championship game in the Super Bowl could be a legitimate beef. Also, our defense did have a tough day and missed some key tackles that could have changed the tide of the game. 3rd and 13 comes to mind. We stop that and we likely win.

If you took this present day Bills squad and the coaches of today and transported them back to that day though, they would crush that Giants team by over 50 points. It wouldn't even be close. The Giants were a very average team that got all the breaks to fall their way that day.

Kelly had his success in an era where defensive players could hit the quarterback.  It all ended when Tom Brady came in the league.  We all remember those games where a woozy, bloodied QB would roll around in pain - that doesn't happen in today's NFL.  Hell, Josh Allen as he was hitting the ground on a late hit was signaling with his right hand (that he didn't even need to use to break his fall) that it was a roughing the passer penalty and more free yards.  What the NFL has done protecting these QB's has completely changed the entire game.  There's zero fear of even getting touched for most of these guys - they are just playing catch.

The 90s Bills and how they approached the Playoffs is not exactly a winning endorsement imo.

If only they took the free bye week off with a meaningless opponent and then remembered not to party like feckless rock starts during Superbowl week.  Honestly, all accounts are that they threw spring break ragers during their superbowls and were not anywhere near ready at kickoff each appearance.

It would only put us over the cap right now by around $5 - $6 million. Then it would make us less likely to have money to roll over to next year and unless we cut Atkins before next year, we'd be already $9 or so mill over the cap for next year.

The guy's great. The fit's questionable, since the McDermott D needs a space-eating 1-tech. The situation of bringing extra money contracts on board the year before a massive cap cut makes big moves very very very unlikely.

That's why Trent Murphy and his 8 million was a MISTAKE.  Could really use that for a position of need now.

If Allen had those touch passes, I'm thinking things go differently for Zay in Buffalo. I'm not saying he's a star #1 in that situation by any means, but his drop issues would have been much less.

He got open, but he was too slow getting his hands up in time and Allen was largley only throwing super fast.

Of course the what if could be what if he got a chance to play with Diggs, Brown and Beasley and be able to be in the Gabriel Davis role (not saying I'd rather have Zay over Gabriel on the team), but I think his biggest issue was he was slow getting his hands ready to catch and if the ball was coming earlier, but slower from Allen like it is this year, he would have had a lot more success.

When I watched the game yesterday, I still saw a Zay Jones that couldn't get separation from anyone - and still very iffy hands.  He should have dove (slightly) and laid out for an almost perfectly thrown ball - if that was Beasley, or Diggs (or even Brown) - he makes that catch.

I mean Allen is like a one man wrecking crew...last week he trucks Kyle Van Noy and stiff arms him to the ground effectively putting him in time out and telling him to "think about what you are trying to do and if that is something you should be doing while you are there" and then a 315 lb DLineman wants to get in on the action after he saw what Allen did to his teammate and said "Oh hell no! Nobody does that to Kyle without answering to me!" and Allen tells him to bring it and trucks him too...

Is this real life anymore?? Like is our QB just the baddest Mofo on the field every week??

It's like the Jim Kelly era where the threw a pick and broke the guy's leg tackling the defensive back that had picked him off.  Check out the video on-line of Jim Kelly destroying Anthony Phillips after a pick.  That's who we have at QB now - except a much stronger and overall more athletic guy.

I agree that the jury is still out on Daboll, though it’s fair to say that when Kelvin Benjamin and Zay Jones are your 1 and 2, you have been given little to work with. I actually think Allen has carried Daboll to this point.

Exactly.  Greg Roman had receivers that couldn't get separation from single coverage, man defense (cornerbacks).  That was the issue - he tried to run a very similar system with Tyrod (unsuccessfully) that he's running with Lamar in Baltimore now.  Different players - Baltimore has a ton of receivers that can actually get separation down-field.

I completely expect Buffalo's offense to take a huge step forward this year, simply because our play makers can get open.  Imagine the New England games this year when Gilmore is in press coverage on Diggs and smoke and Beasley are matched up with Belichick's second and third option - we might finally see a 300 yard game by a Bills QB in Foxboro.

Can we please create an organization that actually helps the black community. Celebrating and making heroes out of rapists, drug addicts and criminals is ridiculous. I have not seen one BLM outreach where those who need the help receive it.

BLM is definitely real stuff.  Today I burned a hot dog in the back of the grill, and when I grabbed it with the tongs I could see that it was so dark its life mattered.
