  1. Hows your defense without derm this year? You had McDermotts defense for a few years, what type of gameplans expose it.

Steve Wilkes was the DB coach and had been there for a while. He had a good college and pro background and moved into the role nicely IMO. Perception is he is a bit more aggressive in terms of blitzes and maybe leans a bit more to man rather than zone coverage. I'm a homer so take it for what it's worth but he inherited a full cupboard. You know the name Kuechly but Thomas Davis and Shaq Thompson are both top tier LBs. the interior DL is stacked. DE is good and Julius Peppers still looks like he is a youngster. I think the weakness is in secondary and can be exploited. Bradberry is going to be a household name but Worley is not there yet.

Again, Panther homer but these guys are good. Homer says top 3 defense. Non homer still will rank the top 10 I think.

  2. Man, I thoroughly enjoyed watching that. I love his intensity, his enthusiasm, how he encouraged his players, how he gave his OC props after calling a good play. He definitely carries a sense of authority about him, like he just demands respect, but not like a control freak type of authority. I love how towards the end of the game you can tell he's starting to lose his voice a little bit from shouting the whole game...

Man I'm really starting to like McD. I'm getting the feeling we may have found something special in our HC guys...

*Please disregard entire post if we go to Carolina Sunday and get throttled.*

I'm a visiting Carolina fan and can tell you he was well respected by the players and fans here. He is his own man but I think one thing he can take from Rivera is how well he relates with players. Some coaches tend to "lose the locker room" when things get rocky but McD. can probably hold it together and overcome adversity better.

  3. Dunno who that is on the 5 yard line towards the bottom of the picture, but he seems pretty open too. Maybe there's another defender out of frame.

Yeah. It's a still shot but depending on how the defense is reacting there are at least two receivers open on that play. Probably one of the worst overthrows I've seen from a QB in a while and if he or any NFL starting QB has this they are going to make a play 7 out of 10 times... Cam looked better in the second half and had better reads and improved accuracy but the rust will definitely be there come Sunday.

  4. Welcome, Catfan. It should be a good game this Sunday. Maybe this is the year the Bills get off the snide. :worthy:

Good to hear. About a third of the folks here wanted him fired before he'd coached a regular season game.

IMO Everybody wants an instant legacy and if it's not someone you think will deliver then it's a turn off.

i know it's cliche but I think the lunch pail approach which McD is a part of makes a big difference. The Panther D has the obvious headliner but there are a lot of other guys that are damn good. Take a well coached team with 5-7 hard nosed guys over a team with a superstar and a coach going thru the motions any day.

  5. All we have to do is have TT throw to the middle against the best MLB in the game, and stop cam? Well when you say it like that...

Agree that this is not how to do it.

Cam only had a couple preseason game throws and I think that was apparent by yesterday's performance. That coupled with the fact that the OC has an Atari-like playbook says that the Bills can potentially exploit some weaknesses. Don't turn the ball over and it will be a very interesting game.

  6. And next week we get to look forward to the other end of the "spagtrum"

Nice post Cat, good luck with your guys. Tell Steve Smith not to mouth off to Andre tho. :nana:

Saw the youtube video and dont think he was talling poo to Andre (not that I would but it past him). Sounded like he was talking poo about someone else to Andre.

Smitty has calmed down a lot and seems to be a very good guy for 6 days and 19 hours during the week. I think there is about a 5 hour span on most Sundays where it is best to steer clear of him.

  7. Panther fan here

Just wanted to congratulate you and say that the better team won this past Sunday. You guys are a couple of breaks away from being 2-0. There is a lot of talent on the roster and I think come November/December Buffalo will be extremely relevant and is going to be a scary team to play. I went to NC State so I am a big fan of Manny Lawson and Mario Williams while begrudgingly having an extremely healthy respect for CJ Spiller (Clemson guy and big rival) and Gilmore (went to South Carolina for grad school). Manuel is also a guy I watched while he was in college and should have a good future in this league.

All that said, I really like the direction of your team. Wish you health and success for the rest of 2013.
