  1. I think every new coaching situation is different. I think with our situation, Rex will obviously be bringing in his defensive playbook, which most of his assistants will be familiar with. The players will adjust quickly to the new scheme, look how well they picked up Schwartz' defense so quickly, not concerned. I think as far as the offense goes, I think Rex will be directing the aggressiveness and philosophy of the offense but, won't be designing the playbook, if that makes sense. I am concerned with offense adjusting to the changes on that side of the ball. Roman's offense seems to have a lot of moving parts and some confusion in the first few weeks is to be expected. Hopefully they adjust quickly and are good to go by regular season. I hope that they don't run a vanilla offense in preseason and actually get these guys in a rhythm of running the normal offense.

  2. This is awful. Changing back to 3-4 which means Schwartz is gone. Kyle Williams on JMS recently said that the D was simpler this year and the players seemed to prefer it and play better. I see the D taking a step back now and Ryan has a track record of putrid offenses, including never once developing a QB. This shows that Pegula is more interested in getting the Bills national attention instead of building a winner....

  3. I think it's pretty clear, especially with the report that he is meeting with ESPN, that if he does not land a head coaching position, he will end up on TV.

Either way, I don't like him as our DC. It would be same scheme as Pettine last year, and although effective, our run defense took a huge step forward this year and going back to a Rex multiple D scheme will take a step back IMO. Kyle Williams on JMS recently mentioned that the D was simplified this year and the results show that was effective. A simple scheme with the talent we have is the best scheme.

  4. I would think that Marrone requested it at the time of his contract negotiation due to Wilsons questionable health and the obvious job security concerns with new ownership. Had we not obliged to include it, it could have swayed him to choose the Browns over the Bills. Had that happened, not sure who we ended up with at the time. The only successful coach hire from that season that I recall is Chip Kelly, who had no interest in Buffalo.

As much as people bash the contract, it was a necessary evil at the time and I don't regret it. Would Chud have fared better than Marrone?

  5. This past draft is not a total bust in my eyes. I think we all see Watkins amazing talent. Unfortunately QB play and injury has held him back slightly. Seantrel is in the 7th was a risk but it's worked out so far. Preston Brown has been very solid for us and sets us up nicely next year with Kiko returning. Not to mention the draft pick trade for Bryce Brown which in hindsight we needed. The trade for Hughes and signing of Scwartz and Orton were are all good moves. I definately believe he's done way more good than harm. And if you want to believe he was responsible for the previous year draft, don't forget we took Manuel in a draft that was weak in terms of QBs but if he didn't take a QB he would've caught a lot of flac and you can't hang him up for Manuel without praising for Kiko.

Whaley is not the problem. He is very well respected throughout the league and hanging up to dry will hurt us in trying to attract other team executives in the future.

  6. Anyone that seriously believes we have a shot at playoffs is beyond my comprehension. With games still against Denver, Green Bay and New England, finishing 8-8 at best (not to mention playing a different Jets team and a 6-3 Browns team that will have Josh Gordon back) is not going to get us in the playoffs. We needed these past 2 games and we couldn't pull it off.

Another year, another .500 or below finish. At this point I am just looking to see some of the young talent show some development.

  7. I think it has more to do with the personnel around him than with his phyisical abilities. I don't see a drastic change in his arm strength or his accuracy. What I do see is a drastic increase in dropped passes, route miscommunications and defensive pressure. When you have a poor man's Wes Welker and a poor man's Aaron Hernandez and a poor man's Logan Mankins, eventually you get poor results.

That being said, they (Brady and Belicheck) always seem to find a way to win more games than us, and for that reason I will never underestimate them.

  8. The win against Chicago on the road was a very impressive win, especially pulling out a close game like that. Last week's win was obviously not as impressive considering a weaker opponent at home with all the momentum of the week with the sale of the team and pre-game ceremonies..

I don't anticipate a blowout this weekend, I think Philip Rivers will keep them in the game but, I think we will win.

Unfortunately, the experts will most likely chalk up the victory to a west coast team playing at 1pm on the east coast and San Diego's injuries.

It was only a few years ago that we started out the season really well and then finished 6-10, and I think we will be reminded of that when experts power rank us. We will need to enter the bye week atleast 6-2 to get the recognition of a competitive team. Don't forget that 3 of our last 4 games look to be pretty tough matchups.

  9. I live on Long Island so ive never been to a home game and have always been to away games. I keep telling myself I have to head up there for a home game eventually. Anyway, i have two scenarios.

Bills/jets at metlife a few times. I always rock the Bills jersey. I go with a few jets fans anyway so i get heckled but never bad. The funniest was when SJ dropped that game winning pass 2 years ago, the whole walk back to the car, jets fans were chanting "WHY SO SERIOUS" (had an sj jersey on)

However, i saw an eagles/bills game in philly. I had heard how bad those fans were and it was cold so i wore a jersey underneath a winter jacket. Thought about taking jacket off but i saw philly fans going up an escalator throw beer onto a bills fan.....decided to keep the jacket on the whole game lol

  10. If Belicheck said this about WNY "joking", Bills Mafia would be planning a hit. Lol. Lets not be hypocritical. This was a stupid tweet and another in the long list of boneheaded moves SJ has made. I used to tell myself that he would eventually grow up, but i think hes actually growing down instead.

  11. The rule is that a 1st rounder generally needs to be able to start right away in the NFL. This guy played D1 for 1 year and has questions around route running. By the time we get this guy running routes correctly hes going to pick up and leave Buffalo anyway. Id rather a player with less upside but someone capable of having a higher immediate impact.
