  1. The Falcons moved up 21 spots -- from 27th to sixth -- to select Jones.

Here is deal that the Falcons swung with the Cleveland Browns for Jones back in 2011:

    Falcons received:

2011 first-round selection (No. 6; used to select Julio Jones)

    Browns received:

2011 first-round selection (No. 27; later traded to Kansas City; Browns moved up to No. 21 to select Phil Taylor)

2011 second-round selection (No. 59; used to select Greg Little)

2011 fourth-round selection (No. 124; used to select Owen Marecic)

2012 first-round selection (No. 22; used to select Brandon Weeden)

2012 fourth-round selection (No. 118; later traded to Minnesota)

Meanwhile, the Bills moved up five spots on Thursday night to select Watkins:

    Bills received:

2014 first-round selection (No. 4; used to select Sammy Watkins)

    Browns received:

2014 first-round selection (No. 9; later traded to Minnesota; Browns moved up to No. 8 to select Justin Gilbert)

    2015 first-round selection

    2015 fourth-round selection

Essentially, the Falcons moved up 16 more spots in the first round than the Bills did, with the difference in the trades being Atlanta's current-year second- and fourth-round selections included in the deal.

I heard the Browns initially wanted this years first and third round picks and next years first ,Whaley called their bluff ( still on the phone with just minutes remaining ) and the rest is history....

We already got next years 4th rounder back in the Stevie Johnson trade to the Niners.

Casserly: Seven QBs in 2014 NFL Draft rate ahead of EJ Manuel

Heading into the 2013 NFL Draft, most thought there were not going to be a ton of quarterbacks taken in the first round. Those low expectations didn't lessen the surprise any when the only quarterback taken in the first round wound up being EJ Manuel, who the Buffalo Bills traded back to get in the middle of the round.

While most consider the 2014 class of quarterbacks to be much stronger than a year ago, how much so might raise a few eyebrows. Former NFL general manager and current NFL Media analyst Charley Casserly revealed just how much more he likes this year's crop of signal-callers over last year's on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft".

"I've got a lot of guys rated ahead of (Manuel) based on their college career and based on Manuel's college career," Casserly said. "[Teddy] Bridgewater, [blake] Bortles, [Johnny] Manziel, [Derek] Carr, [Jimmy] Garoppolo and [AJ] McCarron -- I've got them all rated ahead of EJ Manuel coming out a year ago. And you know what, LSU quarterback [Zach] Mettenberger, I've got him ahead of Manuel, too."

Seven quarterbacks ahead of last year's only first rounder? Not exactly the news you want to hear if you're a Buffalo Bills fan.

To be fair, the jury is still out on Manuel as an NFL starter after he missed a little less than half the season as a rookie due to knee issues. On top of missing games, that's a lot of missed practice time, too.

  3. Draft scenario>>

    Tag Byrd

Trade Byrd for a 2nd rd pick

Trade back a few spots in the 1st rd for an additional 2nd rd pick.

Draft the top safety in the 1st rd and still have 3 picks in the 2nd rd.

    That's 4 picks in the 1st 64.

I love having Byrd here but he is a HUGE distraction and I would rather get a blue chipper that actually wants to be here..

  4. I was looking up the run defense rankings for Mike Pettine as DC from 2009 through the present.

    The rankings were as followed.

    2013--28th

    2012--26th

    2011--20th

    2010--30th

    2009--25th

To me if you can not stop the run you will never be able to win a championship.

Although I agree Pettine is a good DC especially when it comes to pressuring the QB, I also believe this could be his Achilles heel being that it leaves guys out of position to stop these gash plays.

I wish Pettine the best but I'm glad to not have his departure looming over this franchise any longer.

I have read soo many posts of fans worried about how this will effect the team and i believe they might be jumping the gun..

It is possible that Butfalo could have a better overall defense in 2014 depending on who they bring in.

  5. "Not 1 free agent prior to June 1. Not 1 flipping one. You want a FA, sign Byrd. Everything else is overpriced garbage. You want to spend some $$? Then sign Glenn. Sign Wood. "

We signed very useful guys like Lawson last March 13th!!
