I emailed g.m and Russ Brandon to draft this guy. Over the next few years watch as you see him in a Patriots uniform growing into a play maker unfortunately against our bills. Sad face. Good news We are gonna win a superbowl with or without him. !!!!
-
I didnt like it when it happened but now that it has sunk in I actually love the move. If Watkins is indeed the true elite probowl hall of fame WR he's said to be then that is well worth the cost, even if he turns out as an above average #1 WR it's still a win as later drafted WRs all are what we have allready top end #2 receivers.
I can care less what the media says about the cost. Same as the draft grades, if we get 4 immediate starters and 1 or 2 ST guys out of this years draft then it's been a huge success, and this draft has that potential.
In my opinion as much as he is scouted elite talent he is also a Bills fan first and foremost. Russ and Whaley has stated he wants players that want to be here. Look at Byrd and the problems. He wanted where the money is. Sammy will want paid after his rookie contract but I believe he will take less money to help make his team better. Finally we have a player that will stay in Buffalo no matter what. Great Move BUFFALO.

Don't the Bills already have enough Iowa tight ends? Both Maoeki and Chandler are Iowa products.
My answer would be not enough. Iowa and Wisconsin are T.E University and O.L

Side story about Ferentz.
I was talking to Dave Caldwell the Jags GM awhile back when he was still with the Falcons. This was just before Buddy got hired. I asked Dave if he put in for the Bills GM job, he said he had not. I asked him if he had and he had been hired who would be his coach? Ferentz was his answer.
Nice. Ferentz was in the NFL before, he was the OL coach for Baltimore Ravens in 2000. He also coached under Hayden Fry. Listen to the assistant coaches FRY had. Bob Stoops, Barry Alvarez, Kirk Ferentz, Bill Snyder, Dan McCarney, Brent Billema
He may not have a consistent contender in the Big 10 but he goes to bowls and wins a majority of them

Was it CJ that had that long TD against OSU this year? I know it was a TE.
No it was our #2 T.E. that was a great play. We Played YOU GUYS Tough Through Three Quarters
-
"We should draft some Duke players" - DukeBillsFan
Do you have names or just in general?
-
This year will likely bump up OSU in NFL players but they have had a few busts. Urban slowly changing things.
I agree it's scary how good the Buckeyes are going to be under him. I see a Saban in the Making

Fair enough. Freezing in Columbus too in January.
It's hard to beat Ohio St. history and campus. But to have the same amount of NFL players these last 5 years says alot.
-
I can appreciate your passion for your college team. I do have an honest question, something I have always wondered about Ferentz. He is very highly paid for not much success in a conference that is not that good. You think he is a "great coach" and I can appreciate that as your opinion. But why is he only getting 2 and 3 star recruits? We always hear about him getting COY and all this because "they just don't get the recruits" at Iowa. Recruiting is a HUGE part of his job.
I'm on board with Fiedorowicz in round 3 since he's a complete TE. The others I'm not big on....
Well if we passed on Ebron and took C.J I wouldn't be upset. As much as I would like to stay at #9 with the talks about them trading up. I am for it. Hopefully its or Robinson or Clowney.
-
Probably because it's Iowa and winter time. Who wants to stay inside all day? He did get coach of the year twice (Nationally) He does get 4 star players. I was just saying he can take a two star player that most colleges dont want and make him NFL ready.
Thanks for the objective analysis, iowabillsfan4life!!
Your Welcome
don't they have a bruising RB?
Yes his name is Mark Weisman 6'2 245 he will probably be a Mike Alstott FB in the NFL. I think he will be great this year with possibly the 4-5th best (this last year) LT in college football returning this year. Brandon Sherrf

He has put less quality recruits in the NFL. Same as Ohio St. There are three guys I would love to see in a Bills uniform. C.J FEDORAWITZ T.E Iowa great pick for 3rd or 4th. Christian Kirksy Lb Iowa 4th round and MLB James Morris Iowa. Any one of these three has the talent to push for a starting spot. Morris won the MLB job as a FRESHMAN in the big ten. He also had 5 more sacks than Jadevean Clowney. I'd love it and so would my fellow Bills fans.
-
There's only 1 position you move up to the #1 overall for…QB. Clowney is not a player you sell the farm for and we have been improving our defense all offseason, so moving up for Clowney would make little sense.
Would you give all that up for a game changer like J.J watt?

I love the Mlb signing yesterday from new england. The report said he was one of the best run stuff MLB in the league that is really nice. I would really like to see Peppers come in at DE opposite Mario. I think since Sammy Watkins is a huge Bills fan I would let every team know that I wont sign with you if you draft me. Waste a pick if you want but I want to play for Buffalo. Draft a RT in the second round.

I think he ends up in Denver
CBF
Yeah after watching Mike &Mike this morning Shefter said another afc west team called his agent and requested to interview him. His response was your not going to like what your about to hear.
Could peppers fit in our scheme?
-
Your best corners tend not to lead the league in picks, even Deion never did. I'd rather have Gilmore be another winfield at corner.
True. Good point
-
You lost me at "move Gilmore to safety"
The reason I thought that was. In his first two years he don't have but a few interceptions. Now everybody thought Williams was a bust. They moved him to safety and he seemed much better with alot more picks. Well if we can get stephon to face the quarterback instead of his back to the qb then maybe he would have alot more picks. Especially if there was alot of pressure from the front four including Ware. Then we won't miss Byrd at all.
-
Think so. Denver? I thought that Decker was not resigned due to salary cap.
Hell even Julius Peppers could be the same fit for probably less money.
-
Stupid smart phone auto spell checked it. Yes that's what I meant.
-
If we could get Ware as a free agent at 7.5 million. Imagine the 4-3 front four. They all could be pro bowlers. Move Gilmore to safety. Sign a decent cb. Get a descent lb. Draft O.T Mathews/Robinson 1st round best guard/wr 2nd round. Those two wr from LSU are dam good. Resign Chandler

I wonder if sharps opinion when the incognito story surfaced made cbs rethink sharps spot on the show. He was very emotional hearing about how incognito was making racial slurs to Martin. You could see anger all over him. (Which I don't blame him) You could tell the whole cast was like whoa even Brown. But then again I could be wrong. Just an observation
-
no idea. Probably depends in how much of a malcontent Suh is in Detroit and if they need to move him or he becomes a problem.
Either way, although I'd love it if it happened, I don't see it happening. Blockbuster trades like this don't happen.
I seen SUE was due to be at 21 million and Detroit needs to cut slot of salary. I thought with that hanging over their head they could still get a play maker in Byrd for 8 million and Draft a DT. Maybe SUE liked Swartz so much that he would restructure his deal. Lions have a new coach and no relationship so maybe doesn't even think about that in Detroit.
-
your pretty new around here so you probably don't understand my dislike for Kyle Williams. He's a good player, but not a good DT. IMO, even in the most "Tampa 2ish" defense possible where the DT is supposed to pressure the QB he's still supposed to be able to stop the run. I'll hold right into the fact that we have had some of the worst run defenses in the NFL in years and he's the only constant on that defensive line. I don't know how to differentiate between players who's assignments are whose and what not because I don't know defensive linemen that well. But one thing I do know is that a DT is there to take up blockers and clog the running lanes and our running defense is horrible and he's a constant.
It I would not knock that trade or defensive line. Personally, I'd move Kyle to LE, Mario to RE, and have Dareus and Suh in at DT.
I agree Kyle would be a better fit at DE. Man we wouldn't have to blitz hardly 20% of snaps. Does that trade value seem out of reach?
-
I am still a big believer in having a good offensive line and with OT a big need for this team I would have no problem if Bills take a tackle at 9
I also think adding a legit number 1 receiver is a big need so wouldn't have a problem with Watkins either but I don't think he will be there
IMO IF WATKINS IS GONNA TAKE THE BEST TACKLE AVAILABLE. TE IS OK TRUST ME WITH MOEAKI and Chandler #2 Iowa produces TE's like no other school. Wisconsin maybe. Olb/WR in the second
-
except you would have 3 DTs on the same line. When only one of them is actually a good DT
Only one would be good? Explain to me which one was not in the Pro Bowl last year? Well Dareus could move to DE

Injuries and penalties are so frustrating. If Doug don't turn it around. I don't see him as our coach next year
