  1. I don't buy the Gabbert rumors at all. Nor do I think Fairley is an option, unless we find a partner to trade down. These have the classic markings of 11th hour smokescreens. This is stating the obvious, but it is in the Bills' best interest to have as many players as possible floated as possible targets so as to entice other teams to trade up or to simply throw other teams off the scent. In other words, let's say the Skins want Gabbert. If they buy into the idea that the Bills might take him at #3, they might be more willing to trade up to #2 to grab him, thereby making available one of the players the Bills actually want (i.e. Dareus or Miller).

If the Bills don't take a QB at #3 then they are not getting a QB in the draft like they stated they wanted to. Unless they take another Levi Brown.

  2. Nevergiveup, I don't recall you talking about Blaine Gabbert being considered at #3, but ESPN is spreading that rumor today. Any truth to that being considered, that you know of?

I noticed he seems to have avoided that question multiple times.

  3. You make good points. But do you recall Deion Sanders and Rod Woodson? Those guys were shutdown corners. QB's could rarely throw on them. That gives DL and LB's more time to get to the QB. Peterson has that type of potential. Also, I agree the Bills need more on the DL. BUT there is a deep well of D-linemen in this draft. There will be several available at pick #34. So why not take the player that is not as easily found? There is only one Peterson and one Miller in this draft. Dareus is good, but Heyward or Ballard or Clayborn could be good too and one of them will be there at 34.

What good is a cornerback going to do when teams don't have to pass the ball on us?

  4. We don't need a QB, we need the right QB. But that goes for any position.

I do believe Nix and Gailey NEED to get a QB. They are picking #3 and basically have the opportunity to pick any QB they want. A 2nd year HC and GM need to identify and find their franchise QB. That's normally how you rebuild. Not sure how long their contracts are or how long Ralph will wait for a QB ... after he said multiple times last season they need to find a QB.

  5. Why?

#1 2nd year HC and GM are not going to gamble their tenure in Buffalo to a journeyman quarterback in Ryan Fitzpatrick

#2 The Bills have stated they would like to get a QB in the draft and Nix stated in an interview on 103.3 The Edge that the QB's after Gabbert and Newton aren't much better than Fitz (paraphrasing). So it's QB at #3 or no QB at all this draft.

#3 The Bills have stated over and over that if a franchise QB is there they have to take him. In the same interview today on 103.3 Nix said he believes Newton and Gabbert have an above average chance of being a franchise QB.

#4 Ralph Wilson stated on multiple occasions last season that the Bills need to find a QB. I'm sure Nix was listening.

#5 It's a QB driven league and we don't have one. Who are we kidding if we really believe Fitz is going to take us to the playoffs vs. Brady, Manning, Rivers, etc.

All signs point to Blaine Gabbert. Newton is going #1. Dareus will go to Denver. Miller is out... we have Moats who had 3 sacks in 4 games last year and showed he has the ability to play. Green will be a great player but WR is the deepest position on the team. And last time i checked...the top WR's in the league didn't get very far in the playoffs. They are nice to have but not vital to a franchise's success. Peterson would be a luxury pick and won't help us stop the run or rush the passer... and you don't take CB's that high in the draft for a reason. You don't rebuild franchise's around them.

  6. Guys, Gabbert is our trade down carrot.

    Stop pestering NGU about Gabbert.

The official statement to the NFL is that Nix loves Gabbert and can't wait to pick him.

I think the Bills are going to take him... and it's silly to just blow him off like that.
