i'm living in new orleans now and i gotta say, i got a bit giddy and nostalgic watching marshawn B word-slap the saints on that insta-classic TD run.

i understand what the OP is getting at, but don't agree, especially in the context of the bills O-line as it will be next year and this years draft class.
who in the draft can you plug-and-play? obviously not newton with his run tendencies and unfamiliarity with a prostyle offense. mallet's got a hell of a gun but i don't believe he can read a book, let alone defensive schemes. gabbart has horrible footwork and cumbersome throwing motion and is uncomfortable under pressure (huge mistake to draft top 10). that leaves the guy from washington who's name i forget and i've never seen tape of, but he doesn't generate the same chatter as the afore mentioned, so i'm assuming it safe to say: there are simply no quarterbacks in the current class worth a top 10 pick. if we can get newton or mallet in the second, it might be worth a shot, but neither of them have repeated successful years at the div 1 college level... i don't trust 'em.
pick DL. most mocks i've seen have us doing it, and it's a good idea. we need to shore up our d line with big bodies. please god.

Not ALL--Marino had a 16 (about 4 less than Mike Vick, BTW). You'd take Dan Marino redux as our QB if he was available wouldn't you? Anyone know Jimbo's score? I'm guessing it's not in the 30s, but could be wrong.....

amen. no matter what, i can't see ryan benching dirty sanchez. beating him is good enough for me. ryan's an egomaniac, i can't see him rolling over even if they've clinched.

he was horrible out of the backfield against the dolphins. i realize the entire run game was ineffective and chan said the o-line blew the schemes, but there were a few times where he could have squared his shoulders through a soft little seam for 3 - 5, but instead he just fiddle-faddled himself laterally, then backwards. he's got to learn he can make it to the second level between the tackles, not just around the end. he also takes too long to try to make people miss. he needs to be more efficient, like freddy.

now, i'm not much of a gambler and am an unabashed homer, but this has got to be the easiest pick of the season. i fully expect the bills to win this game. if our o-line plays as well as they did last week, freddy and c.j. should be able to solidly anchor the offense and keep the fins d on the field. we showed we can stop the run when there's little passing threat to back it up, and henne doesn't exactly put the fear of god in you. if fitz doesn't throw a hideous pick in the second half, i see a comfortable 20-10 victory with fitz continuing the streak with a 30+ yard bomb for a TD.
am i overly optimistic, or is this game at +5.5 for the bills the gimme of the year? heck, we lost to them 15-10 with trent edwards starting.

Greetings,We meet again. As you know, we are stuck in a rebuilding mode, and are mired in the basement of the AFC East. Normally it's hard to enjoy watching a last place team, but not this time. We are lacking talent in many levels of the game, but the effort our team has given us made this a special season. We have been handicapped by an enormous pattern of injuries, but for a team that played to an 0-8 start, and never gave up the fight, we have come to fight and scratch for every yard.
The Bills played only 2 games where they were completely outplayed, those being against the Jets and the Vikings. Baltimore, K.C. and Pittsburgh were overtime losses, and Chicago squeezed out a 1 point win in the last minutes of the game.
For the Bills, this has been a learning process. They are converting from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defense, and have severed ties with their starting QB, Trent Edwards. That became the beginning of of the new beginning. Sunday, we will be starting 2 new WR's, both are rookie free agents. Our lone veteran WR is Stevie Johnson, a 3 year player that almost never played until this year. He established himself as a better receiver than Lee Evans, who is now injured and on the IR List, joining and already large list of walking wounded.
Even with all these setbacks, I don't expect the Bills to roll over when we meet the Fins this Sunday. I would be surprised if the Bills don't play a competitive game against the Fins. As usual, I leave with my usual good luck, and no injury wish for both teams.
Billsfansez....it was nice having something good to say about a team with very little talent, and enormous Heart.

for the cleveland game, chan told c.j. and freddy to run between the tackles and hit those soft seams. even though freddy carried the load (29 carries, 112 yards, 3.9 avg), spiller had more yds/carry (8 - 33 - 4.1). i think cj is at a place where he could go in and be an every down back and probably get better with each game, he just has that nasty habit of pussyfooting in the backfield instead of hitting holes. chan told them to run north-south against cleveland and he did so fairly well (and i know 'fairly well' isn't what is expected of cj, but c'mon, he only got 8 carries. double that and i promise you he breaks one out.. even though it hasn't happened yet...).
cj will become an invaluable part of our offense. if he is given 25 carries a game and runs vertically, he will be a potent weapon. however, even though a part of me wants to see cj as our every down back now, it agree with how chan is handling the offense, giving freddy the lion's share because freddy is one of the smartest runners in the game. i love the fact cj has to sit there and watch freddy work his magic. he hits holes hard, keeps his feet churning, falls forward, and makes people miss without being flashy. make cj watch, learn, want it, earn it.

Early weather reports predict snow this Sunday. Peyton HIllis seems an ideal cold-weather back: he runs hard and he runs vertically. If Adrian Peterson can knock down our linebackers, just think what this guy will do (though I do look forward to seeing Hillis and Poz square off). I fear the Browns' smash-mouth run attack will methodically wear down our D throughout the game and snow will just exacerbate this. The condition of our O-line doesn't give me a lot of hope that we'll be able to make a lot of first downs-- meaning Browns win the time-of-possession and field position games, both of which mean more up the gut running, more time for our D on the field. This is an old, familiar story, I know.
I'm a total noob and i don't want my first post to be all doom and gloom so I'll add this: only game I've seen Face-First Fitz play in the snow (that i can remember. when it gets cold i drink more... and forget things) was last year against the Colts. The line? 16/25, 155 yds, 3 TDs, 0 INTs in a 30-7 victory. Course, it helped that Freddy ran for 212 yds on 33 carries and the Colts had already secured a first round bye.

Withholding judgement until I see a game where he gets 9 or 10 carries and doesn't get hit 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage by half the defense on every play. That said, its clear that FJ has learned how to run with these conditions, Spiller has yet to develop that skill.
i totally agree, which is why it makes sense for cj to be behind freddy and see how he works. jackson doesn't have the physical gifts of spiller (or even lynch, if appropriate to bring him in here) but he's still a very effective back because he's patient, finds seams, and makes guys miss without being flashy. that's the most amazing thing about freddy: he makes it look easy. spiller has the raw talent, but right now, freddy's a better back simply because of his vision and patience. if cj learns those things by watching freddy he'll be very dangerous.
