  1. After watching Marrone's presser, & listening to Murph's interview with Hackett & Pettine, I agree with this 100%! There will come a point in time, and not too far into next season, when we'll all realize how mediocre our coaching staff has been over the past decade.

Yessir! I have to admit that while watching Murph's interview with Pettine in particular I was impressed. When he was asked if we would be "4-3 or 3-4" he basically said "We are going to be both." (paraphrasing) He seems to want to create a defense that fits the players as opposed to forcing the players to play in a scheme. In the NFL today you have to be able to bring pressure while attempting your best not to give away any pre-snap reads to a QB. Guys like Brady and Rodgers tear you apart if they can figure you out before they have to snap the ball.

So far I have been fairly pleased with the way this has all played out. Marrone seems like he is hungry and gets a little extra motivation knowing he has to turn this thing around. Appears to like to challenge himself and there is no bigger challenge in the NFL today than bringing the Buffalo Bills back to greatness.

  2. I never found Tim Graham to be all that riveting in anything he writes. Maybe because he's a lot more thick-skinned and is a much stronger debater, but I'm much happier with Wawrow hanging around here than TG believing he was gracing us with his presence. His last post here was epic in how inflated he viewed himself.

I thought I remember JW posting something a while back about not wanting to post here anymore either? Maybe I am confusing it with what TG wrote because I don't really remember him posting much either. Then again I have not been here for nearly as long as some of you guys.

  3. I have a feeling that the best option for this team would be to draft one of these guys without having to reach for one, and bring in a guy like Alex Smith to compete for the job. These guys may not be "NFL ready" but they can develop. At the start of this season, Wilson was competing in Seattle. He wasn't just given the job. I know there aren't exactly a ton of QBs floating around in FA that are going to bring this team to a championship but there are a few who could come in and be a stop gap while a young guy develops. I know that isn't the ideal situation and many won't like the idea but the fact is with a new coach and staff, there is bound to be some roster turnover and some growing pains anyway. We might as well expect it now and be realistic.

That said, I watched Murray for a bit and liked some things but I also saw him make some terrible decisions.

Boyd looked like a hungry guy who is eager to work and wants to win. Still rough around the edges but again, all of these college QBs are less than ideal. I will just have to (can't believe I will say this) trust the guys in charge to make the right decision... :bag:

  4. I can see both sides of the argument. The proof will be in what they do, not what they say.

    ^This

I am sure that on some level Ralph was still involved but to what extent I have no idea. When it is all said and done, we will see if the product on the field improves or not. Or, if they manage to catch one of the "top tier" name coaches it may have an indication on how different things are. Last time around, coaches avoided Buffalo like the plague and it can be argued it was because they didn't want to have to deal with Mr. Wilson. Or, they didn't want to deal with the general mess that this team was.

  5. Glennon is a return to Bledsoe. He's a statue. I don't have a problem with his lack of mobility... if he has a fast brain and from the time he accurately reads and process the defense, the ball get's out of his hand in a nano second. Marino, Fouts, Warner didn't have mobility either. But they had pocket presence and they got rid of the ball quickly and accurately.

I can see where you draw the comparrisons to Bledsoe but from what I have watched (admitedly not a ton) of him he seems to be able to make quick decisions and get the ball out. He isn't a stand out must draft like Luck was preceived as but there is potential here. The other thing of note is: if Gailey manages to some how avoid being fired, this is the kind of QB he may want in his system. In the game against UNC I remember seeing a lot of shotgun and spread formations which we know Gailey likes. Although, I am not very confident Gailey will still be around so who knows... :D

  6. Please don't take my avatar as "I am a Chan apologist" because that is not the case.

But if I had to choose one, I would have to choose Fitz. My reasoning here is that the roster has improved over the last few years. Defensively, I think we all should have expected a slow start. some new players, new D coordinator and new system. Still not making excuses for Wanny. Plenty of times this season I shook my head at the defense but the bottom line is, the players on the field have to perform as well. So do we get rid of Chan? The players for the most part seem to have bought in and support him. Fitz? Same could be said there. But replacing a QB in a system is far less disruptive than replacing a coach and his staff for a new one with a whole new system to learn.

Gailey NEEDS to figure out the best way to utilize his play makers or he will be out the door as well. I guess the bottom line is none of them have done anything to prove to me they are the right people for their respective jobs. But if I have to choose one I am choosing the least disruptive and trying to find myself a new QB.

Who will be the QB to take the job? Your guess is as good as mine. Not too many elite QB's just waiting around for a job.

  7. He speaks the truth people!! BuffaloBaumer was sent to the future in a time machine that I created. I came up with the idea when I slipped and hit my head on my X-Box 360, while watching a movie in which a scientist hits his head on the toilet and then invents the flux capacitor which makes time travel possible. Only I had to build my time machine out of a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass but I digress.

The Bills beat Houston 28-3. However, after BuffaloBaumer came back to 1985 and showed me a fax he received about the victory: it erased....

Wait...what is this strange internet I am on?? This isn't 1985 is it?? Crud. Now I need to find out when the next lightning bolt will strike...

  8. The entire Bills D should have surgery.

Get it repaired now. The season is lost.

The next three games are next-to-unwinable.

Chan will be fired no later than 12/31/12 unless he can pull kick a miracle out of his player's azzes.

While I agree with some of this, I still highly doubt they fire Chan. I know my avatar makes me look like a big Gailey apologist, when in reality i just thought it was funny when I chose it.

I don't disagree that the coaching has been bad, because it has been bad (IMO). The only problem is, I remember looking for a coach before and nobody was even interested. This organization had to take Chan as the next best thing in the first place. So if they fire Chan in December, who exactly do they think is going to come in here and want to take over?? If somebody goes, it will be Wanny. Just my opinion though...

  9. Last season, (after 5 games) I bet THEY WOULD make the playoffs, and lost the bet,. I paid in full ($150.00), and "bbb" can vouch for me, I have never met him, had some mildly contentious differences of opinion with him, and will probably never even see the guy. I paid him and I live on the other side of the country!. I may be annoying, but I stand behind what I say. So many others here want to act like they know what they are talking about, but don't want to put ANYTHING on the line.

Knowing what you are talking about and the willingness to bet money an a prediction are not mutually exclusive. You can know what you are talking about and still get a playoff prediction wrong you know. How many former professional football personalities on TV make picks every week? Have they always gotten every game pick correct? Didn't think so. But that doesn't mean that they don't know what they are talking about.

Although good for you on paying up! I never would have made that bet myself, but I too was thinking playoffs last year after the fast start.

  10. No way he gets traded, cut or anything. At least not this year. I have heard announcers talk about how is the "heart and soul" of this team almost every week. If that is the case, then what kind of effect would it have on a locker room by trading that player?

Granted, this team did release Moorman who you could consider a big part of the locker room because he was here for so long, but I don't think they could possibly be so stupid as to trade Jackson away. Especially if the game plan going forward is to focus a little more on the run than in previous games. Spiller has proven he can hit the home run, is now a much better north and south runner and would appear to have great vision. I will agree with the OP on that.

It took 3 pages but I finally got the answer I was looking for!

Did you read the part at the end where he said you were silly? :D

  11. I admit, I'm shocked at the optimism for Brooks. I don't share everyone's recollection of his preseason success...I seem to remember him getting smoked a time or two also...just me?

No I remember that as well. But he did show some promise as far as being physical goes. As a rookie I feel he is going to have his flashes of good and bad. I am not as optimistic as some but the kid has potential IMO.

  12. His wrist is certainly wrapped up big time.

I put the disclaimer "albeit against a pourous line", so lets try and get past that and try and see his quality play. This could be a turn around game for him, but he was dominant. He was less than dominant against other back up OTs. This is a good sign.

On another note, I was digging that creep defense...a nice little wrinkle, much needed wrinkle.

Unfortunately that is the problem. Against good competition, he has been practically non existent. So I am not going to come on here and sing his praises for a great game against arguably the worst offensive line in football. Yes, he had a great game, he was extremely disruptive (as was Kyle Williams IMO and he was getting held on almost every play) but when it is all said and done, he is going to need to do it consistently and against better competition before people around here care very much.

  13. Good thing stats like this matter and not overall records. Otherwise Buffalo would be 2-1, and teams like Pittsburgh, Indy & New Orleans--with QBs who rank in the top 10 in passing yards--would have losing records...oh wait.

This, plus when you have running backs that are piling up yardage, you don't NEED to throw for 300 yards a game. I am not going to defend Fitz too much here because I still see a lot of improvement he should be making, but he hasn't thrown a pick sense the Jets game and he hasn't NEEDED to throw the ball a ton. So pulling out these stats without talking about the team's rushing production is a prime example of cherry picking stats to support an argument.

  14. Maybe, but DTV can't touch Roadrunner...they keep increasing their speeds free....started at about 3 or 4 MB/sec a few years ago and am up to 18-20 MB/sec now...blazing fast...only one who can top that is Verizon Fios, but its way more expensive...

Most people I know who canceled all their TW stuff and switched to DTV came crawling back to Time Warner for the internet. Although I suppose depending on where you live, connections may be faster/ better. Just thought I would that out there.

  15. When it comes to the Buffalo Bills, it is never safe to say anything with any level of certainty  . However, I have been pleasantly surprised. The loss in Week 1 was not the fault of the offensive line but I guess anytime you get blown out it is hard to say anything good about the team without blaming someone else (Fitz) for the things that went wrong. If Spiller tears Cleveland up this week and Fitz keeps his Jersey relatively clean I will be more convinced. As it is now, I would say that are doing VERY well, but I wouldn't call them the best yet.

  16. 28, old enough to remember the great teams of the early 90's vaguely but not old enough to appreciate them at the time. The last time the Bills made the playoffs, I was a freshman in high school. Just had my 10 year graduation reunion. Still no playoffs :bag:

Oddly enough: my mother is a die hard giants fan and I was raised as such (but never really told I couldn't pick another team) and I watched the Super Bowl in 1990 with my mother. She explained that if "the guy missed the kick, we win."

Sure enough, wide right, we cheered!! But part of me just felt so bad for the other team that had tired so hard and lost. And their logo was "sooooo cooool!!" (remember I was 4 at the time) so I decided I wanted to be a fan of that team even though they just lost the Super Bowl...

If only the charging buffalo wasn't cool in comparison to the word "GIANTS" written on a helmet. Oh well...

Still, I have watched as much of the old AFL teams as I have managed to find (read more about them than any video I have seen) and I have done my best to educated myself about the stuff that came before my time.

One day soon I too hope to have children. And you might as well report me to child protective services now because they will be forced to suffer the same abuse. They too will be punished for my mistake. :nana:

  17. I can't believe the absolute disgusting things that were posted earlier. To those of you who did, you are pathetic and you know who you are. I don't care how "cheap" you think Mr. Wilson was/is/has been/will be, there is no excuse for that sh*t. You are the same kind stupid people who trashed McKelvin's lawn after the New England game a few years back. Absolutely classless. You make us all look bad.

Get well Mr. Wilson. Any health complication at 93 can be serious. My great aunt went into a hospital with a"minor infection" and she never came out. Hopefully he will be released soon and ready to watch some football with the rest of us!

  18. Here is what I predict for tonight.

RGIII has a BIG game against us. I know thats going to cause the suicide watch here on The Wall to spike, but I think he runs all over our Defense. Our Defense needs time to gel, and having such a wacky and unpredictable QB play against them in the first game is not a good draw. I expect at least a TD out of him, either on the ground or through the air. The national media will swoon and anoint him the next big thing while saying the Bills overpaid for their Defense and jumping to all sorts of premature conclusions.

On a positive note, I feel like Vince Young has a big game...as does Marcus Easley.

I said something similar to this to my co-worker today. If the defense has a poor showing, I would not be too worried. This defense was put together for one purpose, to attack Tom Brady (and other similar offenses). It has drawn comparisons to the Giants defense in a few articles I have read. RGIII is not your average QB and I fully expect him to make some plays with his legs tonight. The media may want to call the Bills D overrated for that but I would not put too much thought into it. Either way I am excited to see some Bills football tonight!!!
