  1. Yep, and that's why the post is called ideal situation. Get off ur high horse and enjoy the damn post. Smh......

And no, not ideal like let's trade Fitz for Brady and Megatron. I know some ass clown will post something stupid like that because I said "ideal".

Feel free to post your ideal situation as well instead of trying to criticize what everyone else says....there's an original idea!

  2. Read the prior post Bang. It's called a calculated risk to try and get all the guys you want early. No it's not guaranteed, but its a scenario that could play out based on who is expected to pick QBs early. C'mon, it's not rocket science to understand dude. Geesh.....

  3.

Flynn and Smith aren't free agents.

Yeah, not yet, but I am making the assumption they will be cut due to their starter salary and backup QB status. And yes, I did mean to say Okafur. I think he will be special even though he hasn't been super hyped yet.

In regards to trading down, I think it's necessary in order to have a chance to get all 3 picks. That extra pick allows us to trade back into the late 1st/early 2nd. Also I think it's highly improbable that both Nassib and Wilson are gone at pick 15. Chances are if they make it past 9, they will both make it to 15. I think the Jets are the only real threat there. And I don't think they will take a QB in the 1st with all the defensive studs that will be available at their pick.

My bad about the double post.....it was late.

  4. Buffalo Bills trade back to pick 15/16 and pick up a 2nd rd pick in the process. At 15 they select Wilson/Nassib(whomever they like more). They use that new 2nd rounder and a 3rd to move back in the 1st or early 2nd to get DeAndre Hopkins. They use their original 2nd to get Orakpo. The rest of their picks for LB, TE and CB. in free agency, we get Flynn or Smith and Landry. I am a happy camper if this plays out.

    POW!!!

  6. That was awesome to see! I was actually at that game. Did you just find that on Youtube or do you have another website you go to to view old games? It truly felt like we won the Superbowl that day. Fans were all huggin and happy. Good times. Lets do it again this year!

  7. Not by a long shot. He was probably the most consistent corner on the team.

Most consistently getting those defensive holding penalties. Drove me CRAZY with all of those over the past 2 years. That should have been his middle name. Drayton "Defensive Holding" Florence. Yes he did make some big plays for us, but the penalties......well, thanks for your services DF. Wish the best for you at your next destination. Perhaps TB or Carolina.

  8. If Kalil drops to 10, you have to draft him. I'd even say if he falls to 7, we trade up. He seems(to me at least) to be a franchise LT. I have been all for Floyd, but if Kalil, Blackmon or Claiborne drop to the Bills, Floyd should not be a Buffalo Bill(unless Floyd unexplicably falls to round 2...but that absolutely will not happen).

  9. So then we're trading a 3d round pick for a one year rental on a guy who doesn't even play every down? I've always liked Osi but don't see this working for the Bills.

Agreed. Don't see us giving up a 3 unless we plan on signing him long term....and I don't think Ralph is dishing out anouther $10M/year for the DLine to make that happen. The alternative is $3M for one year and he's gone. Not worth a 3rd round pick. Maybe if they hadn't already gotten Anderson for $25M.

  10. What clips I've seen of Keuckley, I came away unimpressed

I kept waiting for that big hit or that impactful play. It never happened.

This is troublesome since it was a HIGHLIGHT film.

We can do better at 10.

I'm not going to like him any better at 14

Thank you!!! This is exactly what i've been saying...Not impressed by what I see. A #10 worthy prospect should jump out at you when watching the team and even moreso when watching the highlights!

Bill Parsells said it best, "Believe what you see, not what you hear."

  11. If we make that trade with Philly, I do hope that we take Kirkpatrick. Way more prepared to be a game changer than any of the available LTs, IMO....

Ironically, if we did take a LT with Philly's pick, he would end up on Philly's roster in 5 years anyways...win/win for the Eagles.

  12. Take it for what it is worth but if he did slide to us then my question is then why would anyone think that we wouldn't take him??! Pretty perplexing if you ask me.

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/04/22/talk-heats-up-that-matt-kalil-could-slide/

That's just it...what is this info worth? I think it's just a smokescreen to try and get someone to trade into their spot. Vikes want picks.

Yea, every year somebody picks a Maybin or a Whitner in the top 10 and changes everything. Let's hope somebody takes over for the Bills in that department.

This year, it'll be Barron from Ala.

  13. I could live with this. I just got the feeling Buddy wasn`t sold on a O.T. at ten. I would like to trade down and get more picks in the 1st or 2nd and get Hightower or the Beast of a kid in the 2nd named Mychal Kendricks from cal. Short but a powerhouse at 5-11 240 4.47 forty 39 inch vertical and 30+ benches at the combine. We could get him in the 3rd if lucky. Like I said I could come up with so many different mocks.

I agree with you. Don't mind Astros mock after round 3, but my first 3 would be:

    Floyd

    Best OT left

    Mychal Kendricks

Maybe switch Tank at 4b for Ryan Broyles from Okla if he's still around. Get rid of some of the scrubs at WR we are keeping around.

For our system, I think Irvin is a reach in the 2nd. I love his talent, but the only thing he's done in college is rush the passer, making him a DE for us. He's got the athleticism to convert into a OLB in the 4-3 I suppose, as he has the speed to run with TEs amd rbs in coverage, but I wouldnt wanna use our 2nd pick on him. Other than that, the draft is ok (although I really don't want To draft a LT at 10).

    Irvin is Maybin 2.0...

I think the correct interpretation is that Buddy would love to take an OT at 10, but only if the OTs he wants at 10 are on the board.

Doug Whaley: You look at Jonathan Martin first of all coming from Stanford; he's going to be a highly intelligent guy. He's a competitive guy. I think he's a guy that has a chance to play both left and right tackle, so the versatility for him makes him very intriguing. Reiff, you just look at the pedigree from guys coming from Iowa. They're well schooled, well coached. The head coach there has coached in the league so he knows how to produce NFL linemen. You're going to get a guy that we believe, most people believe, and the pedigree from that school are going to come in and step in and compete right off the bat. Reiff I think he can play both, left and right. I think you start him out on the left and see how he goes from there. Those left tackles are hard to find like Buddy says. We believe that you start a guy there and if he fails it's easier to move him to right than right to left. With Glenn for us a guy of that size and that type of foot athlete you'd try him out at left tackle. He's got a chance to play there and produce there at a high level.

To me, the description of Jonathan Martin just doesn't sound like a guy they have graded at #10. Neither does their description of Glenn. They're not saying he could come in and compete right off the bat, like they are about Reiff.

So my take is either they like Reiff and take him if he's there, or they rule him out because they think he's topped out and he doesn't match what they want physically and they take another player at #10 and either try to trade up to get Glenn or Martin, or go with someone else if they're gone in the 2nd.

    But maybe that's just me.

Edit: just curious, what's the prototypical size of a successful NFL LT? 5'11" sounds awfully short, especially if his wingspan is correspondingly short.

5'11" was referring to the LB Kendricks, not a LT.

  14. I wonder if that is because he is a better QB or if its a matter of Painter knowing his role and expecting less compensation for it. Not saying that this is the case, because for all I know, Dixon may actually suck that much.

  15. Here is my mock draft. I took some guys with checkered pasts but could really put this team over the top if they pan out.

    1. Michael Floyd. WR Im sick of hearing about his DUI/Alcohol related arrests earlier in his ND career, bottom line is who doesnt drink in college. He stayed out of trouble his whole senior year and he absolutely had a monster season and was a game changer everytime he stepped on the field. The guy worked as a janitor to help him get through college, that shows character.

    2. Janoris Jenkins. CB. Yes this guy has fallen on draft boareds because of off field issues, but the bottom line is I think he is as talented as any CB in this draft and could instantly come in and start right away for the Buffalo Bills with his talent. If you can find a potential lock down CB in the second round, you grab him.

    3. Brandon Mosley. OT. Best value at OT on the board. Hes from the Southeast where Buddy tends to draft.

4a. Keenan Robinson. LB Very good LB who will come in and compete for playing team right away.

4b. Ryan Broyles. WR Super gifted slot receiver who drops dramatically due to just coming off ACL injury

5a. Orsen Charles. TE His DWI arrests will drop his stock but hes too good for Buffalo to allow the fall to continue. This guy can flat out play.

5b. Emmanuel Acho. LB Buddy takes both Acho and Robinson, teammates from Texas, and both compete for PT instantly.

    6. Russell Wilson. QB The guy is a winner. He might be only 5'11 but I'll take him or Levi Brown anyday of the week, and that is who is replacing. People have been impressed with his pre draft workouts too

    7a. Best OT Prospect left

7b. Vontaze Burfict. LB Would not risk a draft pick on this guy before the 7th round.

Undrafted FA. Mason Cloy C. Big southern boy who played at Clemson. Another Buddy Nix player, so he'd choose to work with Buddy if he has other options.

    This looks better to me!

  16. I like the fact that you're giving serious thought to draft strategy. Yours has been one of the better threads I've seen, and a good starting point for shaking people loose from established patterns of thought.

One way your original post could be improved upon is to take into account the data found in an NFL draft value chart. The numbers in this chart are not set in stone. In this year's draft, for example, the first two picks have extreme value, because they're associated with players thought to be franchise QBs. There's a big drop-off in value from 2nd overall to 3rd overall. Other drafts will not necessarily be like that.

But while the draft chart isn't always going to be perfect, it's a good starting point. Also, there's normally more year-to-year variation in the value of the first few picks of a given draft than there is in its main body. Trades between teams--especially for picks in the second or third round--tend to have roughly balanced point values. If, for instance, a GM wants the 16th pick of the 2nd round (420 points) he knows he's probably going to have to give up about 420 points' worth of his own picks. The 16th pick of the 3rd round is worth only 190 points, which makes it somewhat expensive to trade up.

I like the fact that you gave constructive criticism on the OP instead of just bashing it like most of us do on here. Kudos for that EA!

  17. Many Teams like to acquire as many picks as possible which is good if a major overhaul is needed but in reality how many great players are there going to be in the latter rounds (yes I know we have hit on many late rounders but all that shows s how many misses we had early). How many times have you gone through draft boards and as you're going through the early rounds and thought man I want this guy and this guy and this guy and you realize you only have one pick per round.

What I would do is trade back in the first to get more 1st or second round picks and then trade up my 4+5 for another second and 6+7s (we always seem to get comp picks) for another 4rth. In General This would give us 6 total picks where the majority of great to probowl players are and where many first round talents slide back because teams are reaching for them in the first. I wouldn't trade up in the first because it costs too much unless there was a can't miss player. I now you need trade partners but NE seems to manage it every so we can too. Also I would trade fading stars for additional picks like we did with Evans. The rest of the roster would be filled with UDFAs who are just about as good as 5,6,7th rounders.

A team that was made up mostly 1,2,3,4 rounders would be incredibly hard to beat.

So this year we trade our first for one in the late teens early 20's and get a second, 2 4rths for a 2, 2 5ths for third and 6 & 2 7s for 4rth.

    1. Stephen Hill Georgia Tech 6'5" 200 WR

    2. Coby Fleener Stanford 6'6" 247 TE

    2. Lavonte David Nebraska 6'1" 233 OLB

    2. Josh Robinson Central Florida 5'10" 199 CB

    3. Jared Crick Nebraska 6'4" 279 DE

    3. Mitchell Schwartz California 6'5" 318 LT

    4. B.J. Coleman Chattanooga 6'3" 220 QB

Sounds like Madden to me....rock on dude! But holla back when you have a realistic scenario.
