Some of you people amaze me. You want an experienced HC, well we got one. Ryan had success until his dopey GM depleted the team. If he brings in Roman, or Kubiak, or Trestmann then we are light years years beyond Marrone and his kids from Syracuse.
Two things that are blown out of proportion:
1. Offensive minded vs. Defensive minded. Every head coach starts somewhere. Do you think Bellichek is a defensive coach still?
2. Developed a QB - very few star qbs are developed by one coach. This idea is a myth. Getting an elite QB is more luck than any coach will admit.
Look at the 11 other candidates we interviewed. Take away Shanahan Sr and you have no other NFL HC experience except Swartz.
Swartz can hopefully stay and run his D. If not defensive talent is the least of our problems.
I think Ryan deserves a chance. His work with the jets was overall pretty good.
Also, kudos to the Pegula's for getting out there. 12 interviews!!!!!
Contrast to Ralph and his coaching/ GM searches. We should be happy.

Displaced and Weo are making this thread an annoying place for me. I'm happy with the hire and I'm happy we actually have a HC with some swagger and personality. When is the last time we could say that? Ryan is good for FA acquisitions and if he does in fact keep Schwartz and brings in Roman, I don't see what people are whining about.

Keep in mind these are the guys that assembled Maunel, Tuel, and Thad. They really aren't in any position to judge QBs.
Exactly; the FO created this mess, hopefully they continue to fix it. No harm bringing in Pryor for a look.

any chance you'll make a long sleeve version?
thx

Excerpt from NBC sports article this morning:
"Those numbers aren’t final, and the Forbes report suggested they’re so low that the league might want to scuttle the sale process and start over. But it does point to what has been reported previously, that Pegula was the front-runner to buy the team."
The league can't do that, correct?
-
Not to get entirely off topic, however, why has the stadium group not reported their findings yet? Does this have any connection with the bidding process or does it remain independent? Thx

Per PFT :
Hope I did this correctly - if not, see yahoo news
Bills buyers have until July 29 to indicate interest | ProFootballTalk.html

If this has been addressed, pardon me.
How does the bidding process work? Does a perspective owner have the opportunity to increase his bid or is it one and done?
Does the highest bid have to be taken or does the trust have options?
Thanks.
PS..... El Pegul appears to be the best choice for the team, fans, city and region!

..... Double thanks to both of you!...Thank you. I hope you know I meant no disrespect up above when I said we should stop trying to accommodate the Canadian fanbase with stadium location, road building, railways, etc. I love Canada and all of the Canadian people I've met have always been extremely friendly. But if we just concentrate on building a reasonable stadium in the Buffalo area, the Canadian fans will come to the games (just like they make the trip to Orchard Park). Go Bills.
Sorry, meant to add this post :
As a Canadian and a die hard Bills fan, I will not support a team outside of Buffalo or Western NY I The majority of Canadians I believe wouldn't want this to happen too.
First Toronto isn't even close to being the Entire face of Canada. In fact the majority of Canadians don't support Toronto Teams. Only the Toronto Maple Leafs (Cough Ack yuck) have quite a few fans outside of Toronto. Other teams are not followed by a high population, especially out west, where we all Hate everything Toronto. So there would not be a whole country cheering for them. look at Toronto baseball games for example.. people travel (once again no accounting for some tastes) from all over the country to see the Maple Leafs because they have a huge fan base as an original 6 team. Nobody lines up for Jay games.. I won't support any team from Toronto doesn't matter what sport, and plenty of Canadians not just football fans think like that. Plus nobody mentions we have this thing called the Canadian Football League up north, sure it only makes around a 150 million annually in Canada which is chump change, compared to the NFL. You stick a NFL Team in Toronto and it would kill Toronto's CFL team, which would end up hurting the CFL . The NFL won't let that happen, the CFL is too important to the NFL to let that happen. Around 15 years ago the Canadian Football needed help staying out of debt. The NFL gave a huge cash donation for that because they recognized the value of having a place where football players could develop. Yes the ration on teams has to be I think around 50-55% Canadian but there has been quite a few NFL athletes that got there start in the CFL Cameron Wake, Jeff Garcia Doug Flutie Warren Moon. I love the Bills but I certainly wound't cheer for them in Canada and I wouldn't even support the NFL in Canada . Don't get me wrong folks I love the NFL, and I love the Bills. I learned to have the best of both Worlds. as I was raised by Americans ( Cherry Creek NY) who immigrated to Canada. Every time we visited my grandfather I would watch Bill games with him and I
Became unlike most Canadians I like the rest of my family became a football fan first hockey fan second. Not every Canadian is a Leaf or Habs fan, my first NHL game was a Sabre game, where I got to see Gretzky break a record its how I became an Oilers fan
Just like Not every Canadian wants the Bills or the NFL here
The NFL though belongs in the USA, and the CFL in Canada, it' just how it should be

Spot on PTR ... and look, I posted something !I do agree that WNY is not a gold mine for luxury suites, etc. I'm sure the Bills are aware of that and will plan accordingly. The goal is increased revenue. How you achieve the increase is irrelevant. If you have fewer suites sold, you make it up with increased concession revenues from deluxe in-stadium clubs.
Here in rockin' Manchester, NH we have an AHL hockey team and a Double-A Eastern League baseball team. (The Jays farm club, FYI, so we are nowconnected to the Bisons.) The hockey team, owned by AEG, the LA Kings owners, built a private end zone club in the arena accessible only to those who bought expensive "club seat" season ticket packages. Once the bloom came off the novelty of pro hockey those club seats, and the club, are empty most nights.
Meanwhile the baseball team built a fabulous sports bar in right field with tableside views of the game plus dozens of TV's showing other games and serving a full menu of food, mixed drinks and craft beers. But instead of limiting access they open the club to everyone in the stadium, even the $6 bleacher seat fans.
The result? That place prints money! People grab dinner early, then go to their seats for a few innings, then come back for a nightcap. The club winds up being open for hours after the game is over.
So maybe instead of focusing on exclusive luxury areas cordoned off from the masses, you build sports bars with game views open to everyone.

Hopefully they find a full-time gig for Sal before he is recognized by a bigger market and leaves for greener pastures ..... as for the others, you folks have said it all.

reading for years .... post hardly ever ....So, its draft day, new ownership around the corner (all billionaires), governor is in on keeping them in WNY, the community rallying around JK, 140 million in renovations at the Ralph ....and you are depressed?!?!? Come on .... stop, just stop ..... there's a lot to be positive about ... and its not just the Bills ....

What?
its to the original poster --- he gets it.

As per your request BB the topic title has been changed. Let the debate begin!!
Healer of the ill, he who makes the blind see and cripple walk ... is this for real?

This is the first time I've ever heard of a player doing this: going to one city and signing at another he hasn't even seen while still in the first city. Amazing.
PTR
I read ...rarely post ..... this was not just conducting business ... this was a filthy thing to do ... how do you come here on the Bill's nickel, thank them for dinner and then sign with another team you did not even visit?
Gotta call dick on that one.

I don't have the exact quote, but when sitting at his locker after the SuperBowl victory the reporter said "Joe, you were the best player out there today". Namath replied, No we were the better team'. Class act.
Grew up on Long Island .... 2 guys you could always count on to give autographs to us kids at Jets training camp at Hofstra University ...Namath and ..... Lou Piccone (still my favorite Jet and Bill).

Build a new stadium in Niagara Falls, either on the Canadian or US side. Fans could walk across the Rainbow Bridge. If it were in Canada people could tailgate on the US side. There is no lack of parking space behind the casino.
PTR
agree with premise .... question is where would the $$$ come from? Whether this was built on US or Canadian side ( hope for US side though), could this be a joint venture between local governments and then approach Senecas for naming rights $$$?
Just spit balling.

I am new to this; bear with me folks,ok. I don't understand the reasoning to pass on someone at 3, but take him at a later point in the first round if the general consensus is he can play now. CJ seems to have everything that the Bills would need ... 4 year player, did well in senior bowl, combine, pedigree. Don't take this as an endorsement of him; I am attempting to understand the process and mindset. Thanks,

If they traded for Campbell, I would burn all my Bills gear and become a Bucs fan. Campbell is garbage.
Not sure I would burn all my Bills gear but it does seem the guy never got a fair shake in DC with all the changes he endured and still had better stats than Edwards.
Anyway, on other subject, I would be interested what folks out there thought of grabbing Skelton in the 6th or 7th or as a free agent should he go undrafted?
I know he is a project but he is huge and seems to be drawing some interest from other teams.
-
new to this so bear with me folks .... anyone have any scoop on that monster sized QB coming out of Fordham?
Possible undrafted free agent signing?
