  1. Personally, I hated squatting. I've played with a bunch of guys who had their careers ruined by the exercise. A lot more teams are moving away from heavy squatting into other exercises. Core exercises should be the main focus of any strength and conditioning progam IMO.

I'm with you.... I have back and knee issues from heavy squatting... I now do mainly core exercises and light weight training and I'm in the best shape I've been in since college...

  2. Barron, Alex T RFA 6-7 302 5th Season STL TBD

Brown, Jammal T RFA 6-6 313 5th Season NO TBD

I like those two along with Gaither... I'm very interested to see what happens here.. I'll be shocked if they go into camp with what is on the roster right now... If Butler didn't retire, I'd feel differently, but.... yea... you know.

  3. For the first time in as long as I can remember there is not a favorite QB going into camp. All 4 QBs are going in with a shot to start. Here's my prediction on the finish:

    #1) Brohm

#2) Fitzpatrick (only because of experience)

#3) Brown (only because he's a rookie...he's better than Fitz)

    cut - Edwards.

    PTR

Brohm, Edwards, Brown, Fitz gets released before camp even starts.

  4. Besides Modrak, Nix and Gaily, etc, i am wondering if Ralph Wilson or Russ Brandon will be there. If so who will really be in charge.

All indications are that Nix (a) and Modrack (b) are the decision makers with Ralph's approval... oh boy... I sure hope Ralph is a Notre Dame fan.....

  5. Aaron Maybin - yes last year was a missed season, but this kid has plenty of talent and the coaching staff didn't use him wisely. I don't think this kid should be in a 3 point stance at all. Stand up rushing linebacker at all times. I don't care if you suck at run support. Your job is to chase the quarterback down. Just my opinion.

I second that.. But should be responsible against the run... This will be easier to do in the 3-4 though... I was excited about the Maybin pick and was very disappointed in how he was used, I think we underestimated how much missing the preseason would impact his development.. Also, I think people on this board forget how young he is... should actually be coming out this year... He will be a beast for years to come at OLB...

  6. I just checked the roster and they have some guys that are close to fitting the NT mold.

    Favorite, Marlon DT 6-1 317

    Duncan, Rashaad DT 6-2 315

    Harvey, Lonnie DT 6-3 342

    McCargo, John DT 6-2 307

Hopefully one of these guys will surprise at camp. This might be a position that McCargo's talents will fit. (crossing fingers)

As much as I'd Like to see McCargo make z difference, I just don't see him two-gapping.. I think Favorite might be the guy they like... Look for a day two pick on the Nose... Kyle Williams could be a beast at 320, but I think he's only 6'1... Kinda hard to put anymore weight on his bowling ball frame...

  7. I haven't heard this scenario thrown around yet, but it seems to me it could immediately solve a few problems. I realize that the Ravens are shopping Jared Gaithers, and it has been reported that it would take as little as one 2nd-rounder to get the deal done. Here's what I propose:

Let's say hypothetically that Okung, Williams and Bulaga are all gone by #9. Why not offer to swap picks with Baltimore in exchange for Gaithers? I believe the value to move from #25 to #9 has to be at least the value of #41 -- our natural 2nd-rounder. This would give us the LT we've been looking for while still allowing 2 picks between #25 and #41. This would allow us to take a combination of a few players. How do some of these sound to you Bills fans?

I was thinking this exact same thing..... I almost posted it too.. It makes sense.. we get a Tackle and keep all of our picks... It would be a good move IMO... Maybe we draft Williams or even Cody there.. Hell.. might be able to get Clausen there too... I'd be happy if they made this move.

  8. 1) He doesn't want to play in a 3-4 - that's what seems to have precipitated his displeasure with the Redskins

    2) He's not suited for a 3-4

    3) No way Ralph ponies up for the amount remaining on his contract

    ^^^^^^^^read above^^^^^^^^

  9. He'll be there - we may have to go LT in round 2.

I'd be excited with Clausen... It would be ironic though if the Bills run the pistol w the only guy that actually went under center... If we end up with Tebow,McCoy or even Pike, I think the pistol is deffinitly in our future... Much smaller learning curve... But, I want Clausen!

  10. Seattle wants CJ Spiller and Derrick Morgan. They take CJ Spiller at #6, and Seattle has a second pick this year at #14. Seattle knows they need to get ahead of Jacksonville at #10. The Bills oblige by switching picks in Round 1 and take Seattle's #14 pick along with their #60 pick.

The resulting draft gives the Bills Trent Williams LT at the #14, and a second pick in RD2.

14 Buffalo Trent Williams LT Oklahoma

41 Buffalo Terrence Cody NT Alabama

60 Buffalo Koa Misi OLB34 Utah

72 Buffalo Jason Fox RT Miami

107 Buffalo Linval Joseph DE34 East Carolina

140 Buffalo Rahim Alem OLB34 LSU

178 Buffalo Shay Hodge WRF Mississippi

192 Buffalo Tony Washington OT Abilene Christian

209 Buffalo Chris Scott OT Tennessee

216 Buffalo Freddie Barnes WRF Bowling Green

    LOVE it...

  11. I know he's a bit undersided for a 3-4 NT, but I don't remember Freddy or Jeff Wright being all that big when the Bills ran the 3-4 in the late 80's and 90's. How is this different?

News flash.. Jeff Wright sucked... Very much the glaring weak link of those teams... Freddy was very strong as is Williams.. I like Williams there, I think he'll work out well in a rotational situation at Nose... they need a complimenting player there...

  12. Allen Wilson's article about Chan Gailey wanting consistency in the offense was updated yesterday. While I re-read the part about quick-as-a-cat water bugs, I got to thinking, maybe he means that's how he will use Roscoe. I know he was referring to draft picks, but that could be a smokescreen.

Parrish is listed at 5'9" 178 on the team roster. I know we've tried using Roscoe on reverses and other trick plays, and it usually backfires. Lining him up in the backfield and/or the Wildcat is an interesting way to utilize his talents is all I'm saying.

Roscoe doesn't get touches because we don't sustain drives.... On a team such as NE,NO, IND,MIN or even Philly, he becomes another weapon.. In Buffalo, we can't stop falling all over ourselves on O... I completely see Gailey TRYING to use him in the slot, out of the backfield, in gadget plays.. you name it, but it won't manifest into anything if we can't run the ball and complete 3rd and 5... Now, he could help with the short yardage situations, but, like I said, there aren't enough of them...

  13. OK so what we have now is Trent, Fitz and Brohm. Per Nevergiveup, we might have Trent as QB next year.

Can The Chan fix what we have?? We know what we have in Fitz, he is a decent but not great backup and can win a couple of games if the starter gets hurt.

But right now I am unsure he can get Trent back to were he was before the Arizona game in 08.

If Chan can get Edwards to play at a decent level IMO it will be one of great coaching jobs in recent years. I think he would have a better shot at coaching Brohm up, at least he tried to get the ball to his wideouts in the one game he played.

    what do y'all think???

I am of the belief that we are looking at Brohm, Edwards and a rookie( or possibly a younger vet they bring in post draft if they can't draft the guy(s) they like)... I don't see Fitz as a short or long term answer.. He's a backup NFL qb... I am a Trent fan, so I really hope Gailey and his staff can get him right.. I think They can and when they do,the Bills will have a similar situation that the Chargers had a couple years ago with Drew and Rivers.... after we draft Clausen... What, I can dream right?

  14. Kyle williams plays with GREAT leverage, I truly believe that he's not a stack the line type NT, but he has a good to great first step, rarely takes a bad step and again leverage is key at NT...he might be undersized....but he has a over sized heart and determination-that sounded a little gay, and don't care I woke up in a great mood.

I don't see why everyone is sour on Williams at NT... Body weight is a plus, but he's a tough sob... He's strong and active... There is no rule that says the nose has to two- gap all the time... He can 2 or3 shade and the linebackers can change up responsibility too...

  15. I think we should draft him in round 2. He has all the skills to be a star! He just needs the right development!

I agree with this, only I am thinking maybe a 4th round pick... earliest a third... I don't see him as a second rounder, but he has great potential... Don't think he's a 2010 starter... needs grooming.. If you go rd 1 or 2, I think you should be expected to start these days.

  16. just looked at some mocks and most of them have okung go to the skins at 4. most agree that hes the best, some say only, LT in the draft.

now my question. what would we have to give up to swap with washington?

if its a 3rd id go for it. 2nd im not so sure about.

    [/quo

I do not see them giving up draft picks... They'll get a good player at 9... I'd see them move down possibly, but not up.

  17. The year he got picked he was who i was hoping for at that pick and i think given a chance in a decent scheme the guy will be money . He's got the tools & now with what ever he picked up from T.O. last year we could see him and Steve Johnson become very productive . But it always seems like Bills fans give up on players way to quick, heck he was out almost all of last year . Go Figure  Look at what every body on the site says about Bromm & go back and look at his college highlights he was a QB with some good stuff, but because we want instant gratification kick them out of the NFL & get somebody else that can do it NOW !!!!!!!!

I can see him being a guy w 40-50 catches... 8 of which are TDs ... He'll be no 3, but he has the physical tools to be a star.

  18. To me, this could be an indication that Nix and company might not be thrilled with the QB talent in the draft.... Especially if the Raiders and Rams have made those calls as well (assuming reports are accurate) Seattle and Cleveland are bringing new QB talent in too... Perhaps they are all under the same impression of Clausen, Bradford. McCoy...etc.

I just don't want a 33 YO QB that requires and investment of a high pick and so much coin....

  19. I think if Jimmy Clausen is taken by Seattle or Washington, we need to trade down into the late first round and try to pick up a 2d.

I really think T. Cody is going to be one of the studs of this draft. The film does not lie.

I also know we need a QB, and no one else is really going to be worth a pick at #9.

Why take the 3rd or 4th best tackle in the draft at #9?

Beginning to think they like Colt McCoy... Don't know if he has the arm to play here, but he could be had in rd three perhaps.... Trade out of 9, grab more picks... sounds about right.
