  1. How does CJ Spiller not enter this season as the starting running back? He was the 9th pick in the draft, he's a match-up nightmare for defenses, he's better than expected between the tackles. He should be starting games and Jackson/Lynch should be coming in later to pound it home. Don't get me wrong, the load should be divided, but don't we want the ball in this guy's hands as much as possible?

I'm very interested to see what Gailey does when he has the three back healthy. He's going to have some crazy formations!

I agree. The formation that the Bills used against the Colts where three backs were in the backfield together and TE threw a 70 yd bomb to Evans was awesome! No matter where Spiller is on the depth chart, he will be involved in the Bills offense this year. Gailey has all sorts of plays that involve Spiller. Should be more intersting than last year. Stay realistic however. It will be amazing if the Bils go 8-8.

  2. As a fan, I cheer for the Bills to win. I really don't take into consideration their record and where they land in the upcoming draft. Perhaps, I am being a little "closed minded" because there is validity to what Sully said. I have a difficult time agreeing with it but I understand it. I myself find it very difficult to encourage my team to lose. Long term, maybe it is best to try to get the best draft pick. One might ask? What's the difference between 2-14 or 4-12. Both are really horrendous seasons. However, the 2-14 might be able to land the top QB in the next draft and the 4-12 team might not have that chance.

    What do you guys think?

Sully is a Pats fan from Boston who works in Buffalo covering the Bills and whatever else he is assigned to cover. He does not have an emotional investment in the Bills or Buffalo. What he says is spot on hovever. Our QB position is horrible. A 2-14 season would be rock bottom (I know, I was at an 1985 Bills-Pats game), but we would be able to draft a franchise QB. Sometimes you have to be really bad in order to become very good.

  3. yeah yeah....guys like Haynesworth will be mean and ready come game day. I think Shanahan is sending a very good message to him and to others that he expects a lot out of them and isn't putting up with slackers. Haynesworth will fall into line and probably be kicking butt as usual when the season opens.

Thats what I was thinking. It was funny to watch Hainesworth on the NFL Network failing his conditioning test and watching the look on his face. Shanahan will have the Skins ready for opening day (for a change).

  4. nodnarb, anyone on this board who doesn't hope you're right can't rightfully claim Bills fandom.

I agree. My first thought after reading the TE as starter news was I hope that this works. Seriously. I hope that this works. We seem to have better coaching than last year. We have a few weapons on offence. Is Sipller is a playmaker, we will have some excitement to watch on Offence. It all depends on the O-line again.

  5. Have to love the the world wide interweb!!

If they pick this up, I would laugh also! All joking aside, I have two concerns about Brady: 1. We thought that Bledsoe would be the savior from NE and that didn't work out so well. 2. Brady is getting old. How long would he last with our offensive line?

  6. I'll never forget the battle between Miami & SD in the playoffs in the early 80's (that went into overtime). That was a hell of a game. RIP Air Coryell.

That was one of my all-time favorite games. Both teams went back and forth, and the best part was that the Dolphins LOST!!!! It was a shame that the Chargers lost to the Bengals the next week.

  7. Don't forget Jim Ringo and Hank Bullough.

Or John Rauch who wanted to use OJ as a decoy.

Ringo took the Bills to the 1966 AFL Championship game, where they were toasted at home by the Chiefs. Since Ringo has one winning season, and formed the Orange Crush defense for the Broncos, I would place Bullough ahead of Ringo. Ralph Wilson knows how to pick his Head Coaches, doesen't he B-):wallbash:

  8. Funny movie. I remember taking my wife to the Transit Drive In in Lockport to see the movie. OJ was not the best actor in the world, but he knew his limits. OJ had the world in the palm of his hand until the murders. The man was a childhood hero of mine, but when I see him now, I am filled with discust for the man. At least he is in the Las Vegas Hilton (local joke for the North Las Vegas jail). Or he may be in a Nevada State jail. It doesen't matter, as long as he stays in jail.

  9. The Ravens do an excellent job with their three headed attack. For the run, run, and run some more to work, the OL needs to drastically improve from last year. When I was a kid, the Bills used a run based attack with OJ Simpson, Jim , and some other guy (forget the name). Joe Ferguson had Bob Chandler and JD Hill to throw to if needed. The Bills have Lee Evans and ???

  10. Every single day, several times a day, I think about how badly I hate the Patriots*. I will be out for a walk, and see a fresh, steaming pile of dog****, and then it all comes back.

I hate Teddy "Bruised Knees" Bruschi, Tom "Ladyboy" Brady, every one of those sniveling trashbags, with the exception of Sam Aiken.

I dont like Kraft foods, I dont even like arts and crafts anymore.

I really hate Bob Kraft. I hate Viacom and the Federal Reserve. A special Hell is reserved for people like him. I hope he is forever violated by worms of molten metal.

It reminds me of how much we all hated the Fish when Don Shula was coach. Espically during the 70's. I still dislike the Dolphins more than the Pats. It is not Bill Bellicheck's fault that the Bills cannot compete against the Patriots. Every team has an equal shot to pick great players on draft day. They picked Tom Brady, we picked JP Lossman. Need I say more? Ok everyone, flame away!

  11. Not this topic again? I thought it finally died.

This topic will never die. It's a shame because anyone who has spent any amount of time on this board knows that Jim Kelly is talking about the weak, sufer mindset of a lot of the warm weather qb's, espically Rob (china-doll) Johnson, JP (loss, man) Lossman, and Trent (Capt. Checkdown) Edwards. Hopefully TE can break the curse of warm weather qb's with the Bills.

  12. The term "snakebit", to me, implies suffering from bad luck...maybe if they were doing the Top 10 most mis-managed franchises in the NFL, our beloved Bills would rank "higher"? Or, top 10 most inept franchises? Just a thought...back to your regularly scheduled programing... ;)

Excellent point! The Bills are snakebit (Wide Right, Home Run Throwback, OJ in the 1990's). They are also horribly mismanaged. Of course, one could argue that the mismanagement at One Bills Drive is part of why the Bills are inept.

  13. While I think that this Bills team could be one of the worst Bills teams ever, I am encouraged by what Nix and Galley say and do. Reading the quotes from the players talking about how the Bills resemble a pro team now (workouts, squats, endurance training, an actual plan) makes me encouraged about the future. The Bills have talent, but the players have to perform.

  14. yea really, after L A and possibly san antonio, where will all these franchises go? let these billionaires make it with what is in place!give L A a freakin team (other than the bills) and be done with it!, how much do these owners want to bleed fans and taxpayers?

Excellent point! Most cities that can support the NFL have a team in place. LA has a history of not supporting the NFL, and the Raiders have rights to LA. That leaves San Antonio, which can easily support the NFL. However, San Antonio already has the NBA, MLB, and college teams in place. Would they support the crap that Mr. Wilson gives us? That is the question.

  15. I agree with you all that all the great Bills teams had a team concept. However, in order to bring in the talent to win, the Bills have often had a coach or one superstar player in which to build around ( your Kellys, OJ's, Knox's, Saban's, ect). Hopefully the Nix/Galley combo will be able to accomplish this. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that we have gone ten years without a playoff game!

  16. 1. Build FO up

    2. Put together coaching staff and schemes

    3. Assess talent on team

    4. Build through the draft

5 Play young talent in new schemes

    .....and once above is accomplished

6.Aquire FA talent to compliment the core of your team

The Bills haven't been able to follow the formula over the last ten years. Who cares what the Phins and Jests are doing?

Agree completly. The Bills are rebuilding, and the time for step #6 is for future seasons.
