  1. I'm ready for the season to start. I've had my fill of all the offseason/preseason drafts, camps, articles, optimists, pessimists, preseason games, QB discussion, etc. I'm ready. I want to see if Trent can take his preseason success to Week 1 and beyond. I want to see CJ Spiller make the Dolphins look silly. I want to see our 3-4 DEF grow and get better week after week. I want people who've been saying the Bills are cellar dwellers to eat their words! LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!!!!

I want to see fans screaming and fighter planes flying over. Hopefully, whoever is singing the anthem this year can remember it. Poor guy.

  2. Yes but if you look at all the starters in the NFL you find that being a top draft pick only makes a player slightly more likely to stick. Which makes the whole notion of tanking a season to get a pick ridiculous.

    PTR

I would say the only reason it even makes you slightly more likely to stick is because of the investment. They get married to players because of their pick. If Carrington was an undrafted, would he make it? What about Chris Ellis, would he still even be around? I am not trying to make the case that it is a wash between undrafteds and draft picks, but it seems that every team out there is missing. I think paying attention to other practice squads and preseason is huge fot building a team. We started doing that as soon as buddy nix came over. Ex: Brohm. I think we make moves if there is anyone out there that gets cut that has talent.

  3. The bills have nurtured quite a few of these undrafted players namely Pat Williams and the one you forgot...Jason Peters.

Wes Welker was picked up by Miami and NE had to give a 2nd rd draft pick to get him.

I also left out London Fletcher. Was fred Jackson considered an undrafted free agent?

  4. Jonathan Stupar being the starting tight end is not only an indictment of the previous coaching staff in terms of talent evaluation, but a hidden truth of roster development in the NFL. This guys bio is interesting. Stupar is the nephew of Jeff Hostetler and the brother of current Penn State (linebacker U) linebacker Nate Stupar. His father was also a lineman at Penn State from 1976-79. Stupar is from State College, PA. This kid is from a genetic pool hotbed and a regional hotbed of high school football.

    Other notable undrafteds:

    Kurt Warner - Arizona

    Willie Parker - Skins (Pittsburgh)

    Wes Welker - N.E.

    Antonio Gates - San Diego

    Jeff Saturday - Indy

    Pat Williams - Vikings

    James Harrison - Pittsburgh

    Bart Scott - NYJ

    Antonio Pierce - Giants

Look at all the teams. They have all been successful, granted some of these teams did not originally draft these players, still very interesting. Pittsburgh had 2. Maybe Doug Whaley can bring that to Buffalo. Maybe he already has one if David Nelson becomes a stud.

  5. It's our schedule. We are playing the NFC North and the AFC North. they are both powerhouse divisions. In the AFC North the Steelers, Bengals, or Ravens could be #1 in the division. In the NFC north it's either the Vikings or Packers. 4 of the 5 teams listed made the playoffs last year and are expected to do so again. This is why the so called experts believe we will be 3-13.

I personally think the Bills will make the playoffs this year despite the schedule.

I really have never bought into difficulty of schedule. For all we know, the New England defense will be weak and Sanchez and Henne will still struggle as young quaterbacks. Plus there are overhyped teams and underrated teams every year. We will just have to see it play out. Also, over the past couple of years, there have been games where if a few plays go the Bills way, they win. Hopefully with better play calling, improved offensive line play, and more consistent quarterbacking (i know, i know, there is not a whole lot of hope for this), we can have a winning record going into the last three games of the season (which happen to be divisional games). I think we will be in the mix going into that three game stretch.

FS: Byrd, Wilson (Corto to PS) 2

I think Hardy makes it based on some solid play tomorrow, and the fact that S Nelson will be suspended. Also, I do not think they keep that many tight ends on the active roster, especially when you carry a fullback. I don't think they should keep 4 backs on the active roster. Hopefully they don't get signed off practice squad. McCargo has looked better than Carrington at this point. I think he makes it.

  7. I just watched the Bills-Bengals game and I thought Stroud looked awful. For a 300 lb man, he was pushed around easily and just couldn't hold the point of attack at all. Anyone else notice?? I just kept asking myself what does Stroud well?

My question: Is Marcus Stroud's position on this team safe?

Not safe. He was eaten alive by #63, one-on-one! He was getting totally pushed right out of the way. Totes McGoats.

Now that training camp is over and 75% of the preseason, the conversation at receiver is even more interesting. For purposes of rank, I will put Stevie ahead of Roscoe just because he plays on the outside opposite Lee. I personally think roscoe will put up bigger numbers.

    1 - Lee

    2 - Stevie

    3- Roscoe

    4 - David Nelson

    5- Chad Jackson

    6 - James Hardy

    7 - Roosevelt

    8 - Donald Jones

5-8 were tough. How would you rank them?

Looks about right based on the link, other than 6-8. Hardy really needs to show something on thursday.

  9. Granted Hardy has a basketball body but he hasn't used it in the NFL. If you're going by his combine numbers, you need to live in the now. I don't know if you heard but he blew out his knee and is recovering from it. He also is coming back from a foot injury. He is S.L.O.W....David Nelson is around the same size and much quicker. He also has better hands. Hardy should get whacked. End of story

You have to pay attention to upside potential. Buddy Nix picked Chan Gailey because of teaching. I am not sold on hardy being a bust yet because we really haven't seen much of him. It's too early in his career. Maybin has improved, they have coached him up a bit. He has a new move in the counter game and it worked a few times. Chad Jackson, a former second round pick is finding his game with the Bills. Hardy has no experience in an NFL offense and he was out there early with the twos. He was getting snaps with the ones as the 4th toward the end of training camp when I went. While I don't disagree that he hasn't done much, I only see them cutting him if he is not getting better. We will find out saturday. I am sure someone will ask gailey why certain guys were cut.

  10. What speed? The guy is like a snail on valium!!!

Were you aware that Jauron and those idiots didn't play Steve Johnsonhis rookie year and that every opportunity he got, he made plays? Were you also aware that last year we signed a guy named Terrell Owens and he got a ton of balls thrown his way in a Pop Warner offense? We also had Josh Reed who carved a little niche and did jack squat in the 3rd receiver spot. Steve Johnson is getting an opportunity to play FINALLY!!! Name something this preseason that he has done wrong besides the ball in the Skins game that he dropped and there was no Pass INT. He is the 2nd receiver. He runs a lot of distraction. Go back to the Colts game. If he doesn't run a precise route, the saftey doesn't bite and Lee Evans isn't WIDE OPEN!!!

Nelson is showing a ton of talent and potential and is a solid option as a 4th receiver. He cathces EVERYTHNIG that comes his way and matched up against a Safety, Nickel CB, or a LB, I'll take Nelson everytime. Maybe he will end up as the 2nd but he should not start there. Steve Johnson will be solid. Just wait to see it now that he will actually be on the field.

Roosevelt for the Roster!!! SJCI BABY!!!

Hardy ran a 4.47 at the combine. Thats pretty good for a big man. He is also the only receiver on the bills that can rebound like a basketball player. His scouting report said he has a knack for getting to the ball at its highest point. I think easley going on ir opens the door for hardy.
