  1. Out of curiosity...how old are you? There are decades of horrendous losses available. For example, I remember a game against the fish where Kelly threw a gift to Louis Oliver on the Fish's goal line that just crushed me for months. EDIT: Thought it was Louis Oliver, but it was Buckley. My bad, I used to drink a lot back in the day.

I was at that game! I remember Kelly getting knocked out for a play or 2 earlier in the game and the crowd cheered. It was one of the few times in my life I was ashamed to be a Bills fan.

  2. How can you already write off a WR coming off a rookie season? Its one of the hardest positions to make the transition to the NFL. Read the following players' stats from their rookie years and tell me if you would have written them off:

    a. Games - 12 | Catches - 22 | Yards - 273 | TDs - 0

    b. Games - 16 | Catches - 35 | Yards - 520 | TDs - 4

    c. Games - 15 | Catches - 20 | Yards - 309 | TDs - 2

    d. Games - 13 | Catches - 16 | Yards - 269 | TDs - 1

    e. Games - 13 | Catches - 27 | Yards - 345 | TDs - 0

Scroll down to see who these players are and you will see my point...

    a. Plaxico Burress - off field problems but similar playing style to what Hardy can one day hopefully become.

    b. Terrell Owens - no comment

    c. Brandon Marshall - no comment

    d. John Stallworth - different era, but still proves my point

    e. Reggie Wayne - no comment

I know Hardy only had 9 catches or something like that but I think the Bills' coaching staff understands that it takes time for a WR to develop so they are limiting his gametime in favor of learning. This year may not be a breakout year because of TO, but next year will be the year everyone can pass their judgement on him.

You know if you start threads you can't delete them once they have been replied on and it's harder to look like a lurker?

  3. Yeah but not max value--he will be 30+....He is better off getting $20M or so upfront on a 6 year deal now. His agent is dinking him badly if he doesn't get a deal done. The parameters are in place each side give a little. Its $18 Million apart over 6 years. Bills want to pay about $51M, Peters wants about $69M. Meet at $62 and we are done.

There is middle ground here. Go a bit above Jordan Gross with incentives and escalators -- do 6 years $62M with $20M upfront -- back end load a couple of $10M base salary years the last 2 years and average about $5-6M base a year the first 4 years...this is easily doable and fits in the cap.

He is a gifted player--at a hard to find position. Put someone who he can depend on next to him and we have a line and Trent has time to reach all these weapons.

Smart man! What kind of car do you drive?

  4. I'm going to throw it out there because no one has yet.

    Peters = TO

A difference would be that Peters continues to be a recurring problem within our organization(small market) and not in the national media like you find TO.

Should also mention that we have heard very little solid evidence about what kind of person Peters is. I havn't heard one story of how someone here met him at a charity event or anything of that nature. I know that most of the problems in Buffalo get dealed with behind closed doors. Maybe it's a small market thing and it doesn't get the coverage, or maybe RW said he will give spankings to those that talk to the media... McGahee, like someone said earlier, was gone pretty quick after the "move to Toronto" quote. I know this is aside a bit from the actual topic but it relates in the fact of "More positive than negative" or visa versa.

I guess I'm on the fence until I know more about Peters.

  5. quik, you (and others) may want to head over to the blog to check out Tim's T.O. Index for the four AFC East teams ...

    Tim,

What are the chances that Buffalo would try and bring in Terrell Owens for a visit? I think they should take a chance on him for a year as he is exactly what is needed to get us into the playoffs.

    ...
  6. I've been a Bills fan since I was a kid and I have seen fans of every team. In my near 30 years as a Bills fan I have lived in 13 states and I am now overseas for the 6th time, so I've seen it all. I've seen the guys that are a Cowboys fan at the beginning of the season and a Patriots fan at the end of the season. I have lurked this forum and many other NFL or Bills/Sabres related forums for about 10 years now and never really been the guy that posts much. Even though things have been hard as a fan at times I have to admit that the biggest thing that pisses me off now is the fair weather fan. GO AWAY OR CHEER!!!

I guess I am a Troll now too...
