Question: How many coaches who defer in the 1st half, also defer in the 2nd half? Answer: NONE! You don't defer unless you have the option of getting the 1st possession later in the game.
Logic says choose the option that has the possibility of more possessions. If you both score and the game is tied the team that took the ball can win the game with the team that deferred not having another possession. Give me the possibility of a 2-1 possession advantage in overtime every game.
+1 to this
For all the folks referencing the "advantage" of going second and being able to go for it on 4th down and go for the 2 point conversions. How is that an advantage is the team that goes first can do those things as well (and probably should)?

I think you're over pricing what they would put into the position. Crowder and Kirk are both expected to go over $12M, and will want multi-year deals on top of that. So, sure they would be nice to have put they don't fit a medium term solution.
I think the more likely plan is to get a bridge and a draft pick. The bridge probably would have been McKenzie but I don't know now. One plan is to wait out the FA rush and see who got left behind. Then offer the low end market rate of around $6M. And of course there is always my hope of adding Gronk.
Is Crowder expected to go for 12M?? I’d be shocked if he signed for that much. -
Well that was a ride.

I personally loved this strategy. I would guess that 9/10 possessions for the Titans started at or before the 25. The lone exception being the one in the 4th quarter.

The first three games for both the Bills and the Chiefs have high quality and high importance. Should be a good tone setter for the season!

I really don't see the need myself. We cannot possible pass the ball more so targets to him take away from someone else. If anything a 6th or 7th and the Birds eat a significant portion of his bloated contract.
If Ertz takes the 2020 targets from John Brown, Knox, Kroft & Smith, that's 110+ targets that would otherwise be going to lesser receivers in 2021. I don't see how that isn't an upgrade for us this year.

The Colts playoff game before halftime with Davis dragging his toes twice on the sideline. A 96 yard drive after a defensive stand at the goal line that concluded with a Josh Allen (you can never do this if your life depended on it Phillip Rivers) rushing TD. I don't even think the celestial Patrick Mahomes could've pulled that off.
👆🏻 Stage matters, this was huge and was much needed in that game.

I can’t imagine he’d be interested in literally every other team. He’s 31 and will likely want to go somewhere to try and win.
If he doesn’t want to be here then we aren’t really losing out on an elite player.
Regardless, that’s why you would give up peanuts in a trade for him. All it takes is 1 other team and we’re left with a bad TE group in 2021.
Plus, with waivers it doesn’t matter if Ertz is interested or not.

Why wouldn’t we just wait until after June 1st when he’s likely cut so we can sign him for less money?
Because 30 other teams could sign him either via waivers or FA if he's cut.

I get it, but that was also one of the greatest plays in NFL history from a pure athleticism and odds standpoint. I don’t blame them for putting it on a pedestal.

He's an older, less good version of Breida.
Reliability has to count for something though.

You didn't mention Andy Reid, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, or Sammy Watkins.
Agree with this, but Sammy doesn't belong in this sentence. Mahomes has been good with and without him in the lineup.

Bills uniform color will be white jersey with blue pants. Bills are 0-3 in the playoffs with that color.
This is the year where we put an end to all bad streaks!

Meanwhile, Josh Norman has been working his tail off for local Buffalo businesses. He's our guy and he's banging the table for donations.
But, yes, let's go 6 figures to Lamar in a half a day because.....?
I think you’re missing the point.. we’re not supporting the players - we’re supporting the charity. The reality is that these types of movements put money towards good causes when otherwise they’d stay in peoples pockets.
I’m sure Josh Norman would agree. He’d much rather money go to a charity he doesn’t support rather than no where at all.

Can Jackson throw with 15-20 mph winds? Might make selling out to stop the run really effective.
Yea I’m hoping we stack the box against the ravens to plug the run and take away the short passing game. If Lamar can beat us through the air deep with the cold and the wind, then I can live with that.

I have a feeling that this game will come down to whoever wins the turnover battle. If we play mistake free football I like our chances.

Really makes you wonder if the Chiefs and Bills could scheme up a Hail Mary from their own ~30. Protection would be the main issue, but if you send 3 guys and everyone else stays home to block it would be fun to see an 80 yard bomb to the end zone.

Seat belts are proven beyond a doubt to save lives; masks aren't, and neither are forced closures of schools and businesses, which have never before in history been imposed on such a scale to contain a respiratory illness. There is zero cost associated with wearing a seat belt; that's not the case with masks and the other measures that have been mandated by our rulers. In fact, there was never a serious effort to try to measure the short or long-term costs of school and business closures on those effected by them or on society at large.
The main problem is that the media has been entirely dishonest about how this virus affects different demographic groups. Although there is still much that is unknown, the evidence so far is that, for the vast majority of people, CV19 is no more dangerous than the seasonal flu, and for the group of people we obsess over on this website-- healthy people 35 and under--it is far less dangerous than the flu. The relatively large number of healthy young athletes opting out of the NFL season shows that the media's campaign has succeeded, and/or that a lot of guys didn't really want to play football.
LOL.. hard to take you seriously after this one. ? I guess you think you're smarter than basically every health organization around the world?
I'd also love to hear you explain how the "cost" of wearing a mask is higher than the cost of wearing a seat belt. ?

People have the right to do whatever they please as far as kneeling goes.
But, for those that say the flag and military have no connection?
Explain this.....
Kneeling while the flag is being honored will always be one of the most disrespectful things a person can do in my eyes....but they do have the right to do that and I wouldn’t trample on those rights.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the issue that is causing players to kneel in the first place. Fix that and you won’t even have to worry about the kneeling. -
Can’t see them keeping 8 WRs and only 5 CBs on the active roster. Doesn’t bode well for Roberts / Foster.
What would you do with the new OT rule? Defer or take the ball?

Team 1 controls it's own destiny. Team 2 does not.
Optimal strategy would be to get the ball first, try to score a touchdown and 2 point conversion. Which is the exact same goal as team 2. The only difference is that Team 1 would get the 3rd possession.
