  1. Ok let me try to help you with this, We can't overpay everyone. You want the BILLS to be better? Move them out of Buffalo period. Donte Whitner, Andy Levitre, Jairus Byrd, Willis Mcgahee, Marshawn Lynch all made note of how they didn't like it in Buffalo. Sorry to piss people of but there seems to be two real themes here, crappy ownership and top players not wanting to play IN Buffalo unless we vastly overpay. Problem is we have to field 53 players and can't overpay everyone.

London Fletcher's the only one that really burns me, he would have been a great backbone for our defense for years. Marshawn didn't outwardly hate Buffalo either if I recall, ownership just hated him.

  2. It means if you help in costing the team a game, your job will be looked at very closely. Not sure what they have in store for Stevie. Both were horrible but Chandler should have at least learned from Stevie's mistake a few mins earlier in the game. That was inexcusable.

A small bright spot in this week of misery. This coaching staff seems to have some accountability.

  3. Its time we really look at Stevie Johnson, this guy has cost us two games this year with drops and fumbles. All the guy does is talk and never wins us games. Everybody we need to lose today, lost! I just an suffering so much with the f*****g team I wanna screem!!! When's the draft cause the year is over!!!!

Four games, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, NYJ, and now this.

  4. The defense was dominant and Mario Williams was a part of it. JJ Watt has 6.5 sacks on the year, he suck now too? There's a lot more to defense than sacking the QB. The Jets couldn't move the ball and our DEFENSE was making plays regardless of if the individuals were named Mario Williams. People seem to forget he pretty much single-handedly won us the game in Miami, and is a league leader in sacks.

I'm all for complaining but come on, its gotta be warranted.

  5. It's weird, even though this is a new regime I expect this team to have a chance at winning every week. Maybe Marrone's winning mentality is contagious. I can see 8-8 being very possible, and me being very happy with that record considering the extremely close games we've had this year. Looking forward to watching EJ again the most if I'm being honest, for me the playoffs are out of reach but I'm excited about making a run for it.

  6. wrong, I wanted Peyton but that's a whole different conversation.

You guys are forgetting that I didn't say he had a bad game,

it's just that he doesn't play like this game in and game out. There is a reason why there isn't a Mario appreciation thread every week.

Show me any defensive end who wins games for his team week in and week out.

Of course he's not worth $96 million, nobody other than a quarterback in this league will EVER be worth that type of money but I can say this, I'm glad he's on our team.

  7. The morning show guys are great, and I like Sal Cappacio, but Schopp does in fact hate football and I really can't stand listening to him sometimes. I feel like he takes unfavorable opinions just for the sake of it. Bulldog is usually good, but yes I too can't stand hockey talk in the middle of October on the "flagship" station for the Bills.

  8. Good thread. I wouldn't be surprised if he does well. As long as little Natey Hackett takes the training wheels off the playbook that he keeps on for EJ.

Remember when EJ said the offense was "basic"? Turns out he wasn't lying, our offense is about as vanilla as our defense was last year. I'm hopeful for Thad Lewis and hope he can play well enough to where we'll be competitive, though I fully expect Hackett to run at least 60% of the time. This game will be won or lost by our defense and run game.

  9. If EJ doesn't get injured again, and he doesn't play terribly, then obviously we will not waste a 1st round pick on another QB. The staff is behind the kid and the fans are too. He is a leader. But, maybe after 2 years if things don't look good, we'll have to think about it and not pull a Jacksonville with Gabbert.

Pretty much this. Roll with him for now and pick your REAL backup in next years draft in rounds 3-4. I'm firmly abide by the "just keep drafting QBs until you land one" philosophy, but I'm happy with how EJ's progressing.

Coulda done that this year and laid the solid foundation for 2014's rookie QB. Lets face it EJ is not the answer. Two popped out knees in the course of 6 weeks is a bad sign.

Pretty hard to base that off of 4 and a half games, with a rookie OC who's been taken advantage of in the red zone. After Carolina we all thought we had the guy, I'm no where near ready to give up on him.

  10. I have to be honest, as an optimist myself the Bills put me to the test yesterday, and like many of you I was damn near ready to throw the rest of the season away BUT since I'm a Bills fan with a passion that burns like the eternal flame I was able to find several good things out of yesterdays shalacking.

    1.) Run defense greatly improved

The Jets could get absolutely nothing going on the ground, just what we saw in the preseason this defense is built to plug gaps. In this NFL solid run D is not as important as it once was but is still a positive if we can shore up the pass defense.

    2.) We almost came back

No seriously, we did. The Spiller fumble was a pretty damn iffy call and had it been ruled incomplete on the field there's no way it would've been overturned. Fitz throws one less pick, we don't give up a punt return TD, and we start to establish the run EARLIER and that game plays out very differently.

3.) Fitz was bad, but that's as bad as he gets.

I can confidently say that was the worst game I've ever seen Ryan Fitzpatrick play, and he still got 3TDs. Is he a good QB? No, in fact he's much more on the side of terrible than he ever will be good. But he's shown he can win games and does have the ability to throw 4TDs and no picks in a game. If he doesn't work out, we'll see how T-Jack does in week 6.

4.) Spiller finally not a bust

He looked good, he looked really really good. Making people miss, waiting for blocks to setup and then turning on the burners. Spiller was the only bright spot on a woeful offense but he was a star. He'll be splitting with Freddy evenly when he returns, slowly taking the full time spot, the kid is an absolute stud and I think the game finally slowed down for him.

5.) This team with a good starting QB is a consistent playoff contender

When Fitz throws well, our offense can score, now if we had a QB who could throw well EVERY GAME, well, we'd be a top ten offense, easily. Obviously we aren't going to have that guy by the end of the season but its been 12 years, what the hell's another offseason?

    6.) MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL

IT'S WEEK ONE. ONE WEEK. ONE GAME OF SIXTEEN. Do you remember last year? We blew the Chiefs out 41-7, started 5-2, and then sucked. Week one is hardly ever an indication of how a team will play for the rest of the season. We have issues like every other team, and as hard as it is to hear we are still building.

This season ain't over, the sky STILL isn't falling, trust me I checked, and the Bills are still in the playoff hunt as far as I'm concerned.

  11. How soon we forget. Perhaps the police are trying to prevent a situation like this, when 4 police officers and 3 fans were hit by a drunk and underage driver.

    http://www.wkbw.com/...l/63972522.html

Per the article 'Police arrested 19-year-old Brandon McLean of Williamsville and charged him with DWI. Its likely more charges will be added on because the injury count is high: 4 officers and 3 pedestrians, all victims of what some called erratic and reckless driving.'

That could have just as easily been a 21 year old driver, or a 45 year old one for that matter. Under 21=/=stupid and reckless. Stupid and reckless=stupid and reckless.

  12. I've often said the same thing, whenever someone brought up Fitz's INTs last year I'd always say well Eli threw the most last year. Granted we're comparing a 2 time SB winner and 1st overall pick to, well, Fitz. But still I think some comparisons can be made, if nothing more that a player can have a poor year one year and have a fantastic one the next.
