I saw him play and he looked like a harder runner than Earl Campbell. He was very fast as well. Defensive backs always went very low on him cause they couldn't bring him down with a hit above the waist.

Shirley we can blame Whaley anyway. Everything else seems to be his fault.
And don't call me Shirley

If you honestly think that it was intentional thank god you didn't watch football pre 2000 where QB's got lit up routinely
I did and believe it was intentional then as well.as now. The Bills, myself included, wanted to hurt Namath's knees everytime we played......Intentional then, intentional now..
-
I think it was an intentional act to hurt him. He was tackled to the ground and then finished off with the usual - i'm going to unecessarily throw all of my weight on this prone player to see if i can cause some damage. But I guess that's how football is played nowadays as I see it happening all the time. To merely tackle is not enough.

This team may very well be good enough to make the playoffs, but no where near good enough to win the SB, and that's the ultimate goal of course. As fans of a team that hasn't made the playoffs in so many years, we would love to make the playoffs now. But I would much rather build a sustainable team for the future, start a long run of playoff appearances, and win a SB. Hopefully trusting the process will yield these results....
You may be right but to me its too clinical and calculating. Lets just play ball and let the better team win. Tired of these long range plans and tossing away good years of football. Maybe I don't need a superbowl but need good competitive games year in and year out.

How about this scenario: the non-playoff teams would get to draft based on the best non playoff team drafting first with the second best team drafting second and so on. After all the non playoff teams have drafted then the normal order and rules would apply. This would provide the incentive to win for all teams as finishing last would have the least reward. More wins equal a better draft position.

Is there really any proof that intentional losing has ever helped any team? It's been pretty well documented that having the #1 overall pick doesn't guarantee a better player than say the #8 guy in any given draft. And that's not even getting into the discussion of whether or not the team as a whole actually gets better. The NFL is a totally different animal than the NBA or even the NHL.
You're probably right and I agree with your sentiment but it hasn't stopped teams from trying any which way possible to draft higher in the draft where the supposed best players are. Whether it actually works is debatable as you can bring up the Tom Brady example. But, the best gamble is to try to draft higher for the projected better players and teams will do anything to get as high as possible to get a need player.

No professional league should have any type of incentive for losing. The first handful of picks may have to be random or some other formula to discourage losing. Winning should always reap any rewards. Others have suggested different scenarios for running the draft. Need to stop this intentional losing - period.

I miss Whaley, You know if he was still here he would be bringing in reinforcements. Maybe he couldn't field a winning combination but you knew he would keep trying.to address our needs. Now its crickets. Maybe they are tanking after all for that future QB. Lets not even try to help Tyrod who needs receivers. Bring back Whaley.

I admit I don't know the IR rules but it would feel nice if Mcdermott would tell Dareus he's on IR for the rest of the year and to pack up his stuff and stay away from the team and facilities until next year. Bye bye and no more talk of him this season.......

victim blaming. Cute.
Good one. I guess you got me there. Mea culpa.

It sounded more like she made a statement to me and look how smart I am to say such a thing. Had no trouble with Cam's reply and don't think she should be upset at all. I've played and watched football for over 50 years and wouldn't know how to make a sensible reply to that question. But the outrage fits right in with todays society. Just a tad thin skinned to me but hey we're all entitled to our own opinions.

Looks like we're on pace to win the off season again.

Didn't he say he was tired of watching the playoffs from his couch? If so, he ain't coming here.

Unfortunately, there is a dumpster fire and its at The Buffalo News and their mud slinging sports journalists. What a bunch of crybabies they are. They have an agenda and its not pro Bills.

Bills will go 8-8 at best and Rex will be back, because the Pegulas are well-intentioned, but clueless.
continuity.........................................

Pressure Brady relentlessly and accept the risks involved with doing that. Must not sit back and let him pick us apart, because he will.
-
I vote to put him on season-ending ir the rest of the year. His poor choices will probably cost him playing next year too. Just hate paying a player to sit on his fat butt.

wth did I just read?

What we really need is some extroverted idiot to dressup as a buffalo and jump around and do all kinda crazy stuff. Like stand by the goalpost when field goals are being kicked and react accordingly. That'd be much better than the jills and/or drummers.

Setup a fund for someone who gets a $50,000 pension from the league? Someone who cashed in his 401k for $0.25 on the dollar? For a pro athlete who had a 14 year run of making pro athlete money?
Look I hope for the best for everyone and I hope his situation gets better for himself and his family. But every man needs to accept responsibility for their decisions and for their lives......and that entire article by Tim Graham rubbed me the wrong way. Blaming Butler for not resigning him when he said he would. Saying the NFL doesn't care about him......it honestly all sounds like sour grapes to me. I also didnt like how Tim Graham called Duerson's widow to get a comment on Talley saying it's cowardly to commit suicide. He basically threw Talley under the bus and made him look and seem like an insensitive ass when that's not what he meant. Very unprofessional from Tim Graham.....which doesn't surprise me at all. The guy seems to do anything possible to give his stories the most juice and drama possible.
I agree. Worked all my life and my wife worked all her life and our combined monthly ss benefits are less than his and we made less money in our lifetime than he did. So while I feel very sorry for his current medical situation, there's very little I can do to help in that regard. I also don't think it makes sense for someone to give money to someone who is better off financially than they are.

Mediocre is the best we got right now. Orton may be mediocre, EJ is turrible..If Orton is the starting quarterback next year, the Bills are going nowhere. Comparing Orton to the play of Manuel is not the standard that we need to go by. Orton has been around long enough to know what you're going to get from him. Mediocre quarterbacking. Folks, there is a reason no other team made a move to get this guy. He is a career backup. I'm certainly not going to sit here and say that Manuel will be a good quarterback some day but they used a first round pick on the guy. He needs to play the rest of this year. They need to find out if there is a glimmer of hope in the guy. What does playing Orton prove? Maybe Marrone wants to try and save his job, but the only logical thing to do is to play Manuel. Then, at years end, Whaley better be prepared to do something to get a decent starter in here. The Orton experiment is a loser.

EJ Manuel is a really bad NFL QB. Don't we remeber al the open receivers that he overthrew and underthrew and was just generally off target even on completions? Remember all the long ball overthrows and the out of bounds tosses? I do, it was embarrasing. His accuracy is very bad for a pro QB. He wasn't very slick in the pocket or escaping pressure. Orton is a much better QB. He has an NFL arm and accuracy. He normall hits receivers in stride, EJ rarely did. He's hit many long balls on time and with accuracy, EJ rarely did. Orton is the better QB. period.

How about this song from the 50" doo wop "Lavender Blue"
Lavender green
If I were king, dilly, dilly
I'd need a queen
Who told me so
I told myself, dilly, dilly
I told me so
Feels a dilly, dilly way
And if you answer, yes
In a pretty little church
On a dilly, dilly day
You'll be wed in a dilly, dilly dress
Lavender green
Then I'll be king, dilly, dilly
And you'll be my queen
When she was a shy young miss
And great-grandfather won great-grandmother
With words more or less like this
Lavender green
If you were king, dilly, dilly
You need a queen
Who told…
