  1. No argument there. It was a bad throw.

Right, every QB makes bad throws. Maybe the best way to explain it is a comparison to a baseball pitcher. Every pitcher can have an off night. But sometimes pitchers lose their control for unknown reasons (e.g. Steve Blass, Rick Ankiel). Now imagine a pitcher who loses his control for some unknown reason maybe once a game, at some random point in the game, but maybe regains it later. This inexplicable loss of control appears to be completely random. That's EJ. With only 16 games plus single-elimination playoffs, an unpredictable element is a bad thing in football.

  2. Save for the one under throw, what were EJ's mistakes? The 2 botched snaps by the center? The 3 dropped balls? Please tell me what I missed.

Well, I'm a little late in replying to this, but c'est la vie. Anyway, it was just the one under throw, but it was the nature of that under throw. He looked good otherwise, but the nature of that under throw is not something you can coach out of him. It's a case of the body just reacting. Granted, it may not happen often, but when it does happen, it happens when an athlete (in this case EJ) is trying to make something happen and they get anxious. It's a really, really bad problem to have. It's like a star pitcher who, every so often, just starts tossing totally wild pitches. That's fine in baseball when you play 162 games, but in football? A friend of mine said EJ could benefit from a bit of Phil Jackson mindfulness training.

  3. Well, after seven seasons of Sunday Ticket (and 12 years with DirecTV in general), I finally cut the cord completely on DirecTV. Instead I signed up for NFL Game Pass (and traded in DTV for a Roku box and a digital antenna). I figured I'll probably get at least five games this season that I didn't need ST for (the primetime games, the two New England games, and the London game) which means I was really only paying for eleven games. Plus the only reason I held on to DTV was ST. I realize I will not get the games live (unless I log in through a VPN which may work), but I get them as soon as the last 4 PM game ends and I can skip the ads if I want or pause in the middle. The money saved means I can now get NHL Center Ice (which I can stream through my Roku box).

  4. Look, I'll say this in Sully's defense:

When he is negative, he is often right. Behind a pessimist is a dissapointed optimist. I get the feeling that hi heart has been broken along with all of ours, and unlike us he doesn't have the luxury of looking away.

Nah. I remember not long after he came to Buffalo he was brought in by my high school to judge some kind of basketball-related contest (might have been a slam dunk contest?). The whole idea was that it was supposed to be fun (and it might have had some charity-related angle to it). So all of the judges, except Jerry, got into the spirit of the occasion and generally awarded 8s, 9s, and 10s to the competitors. Jerry gave 3s.

  5. is Freeman really that bad? everyone was fighting for him last year. then the Vikings threw him out there 1 week after picking him up. I doubt he knew the offense very well at that point. i'm surprised everyone has given up on him already. he HAS to be better than jeff tuel

Yeah, and he probably costs more too.
