1. When you are used to stealing signals, jamming radio signals........it's hard to make adjustments when you can no longer look at tape ...............This wasn't Cassel who got rolled on .This was the Patriots D-fense. This has the look of Belicheck when he was coaching the Browns .............When you cheat for so long you forget how to prepare for a team ....... This is with noddle arm Pennington at QB it was 10-offensive players against the Patriots 11 and the Defense look like ,Sarah Palin trying to talk to Russia about stopping their agression , just got rolled it was quite funny and sad

2. :( Love the Bills but they will not see another dime of my hard earned Money.I dont buy suites for a substandard product.......There was NOTHING this off season that would warrant a purchase of anything ................I will look at them on T.V. ....... I mean direct T.V. because there will be few sell outs with this joke of a staff both coaching and management
3. What a bunch of fuggin pansies. heres gene upshaw..."waaah, i'm taking ym ball and going home." then 5 minutes later. "Can you guys play tomorrow?"

Fugg Gene Upshaw (mostly), and fugg the high revenue owners.

618220

Dont try to blame the Players on this one ......They will not talk until All money will be included in Salary cap ...........so tell the Greedy 5 to take one for the NFl and agree to all money made go into the pot to be counted period. Once thats done this Cba will be done in an instant .........

4. I think you have one good point here:  Marv has never been a GM at the NFL level and there will be a learning curve...hence some concern for us Bills' fans.

As Marv wasn't the GM when he was with the Bills (despite what obie wan may think) it is unfair to talk about "his picks" when he was coach of the team.  HOWEVER, if we decide to use the Bills drafting failures during the time Marv was coach to bash his ability as a GM, then shouldn't we credit Marv with all of the Bills drafting successes during Marv's reign as HC?

I really don't believe I'm looking at this through rose-colored glasses.  I think I approach this season with realistic expectations and cautious optimism.

I certainly will not find fault with a man BEFORE giving him a chance to do his job...particuarly when that man produced at an extremely high level for this team in the job he previously held. As HC Marv was CEO of the on-the-field production.  During that stint he lead the team to an unprecedented FOUR straight AFC Championships and four straight trips to the Super Bowl.  Now he is CEO of a different area for the team, and i expect he'll approach it with the same skill and intelligence as his previous job.

Excuse me if I don't judge his performance in that job several months before training camp.

600873

But what will those expectations honestly be ....Marv dosent have Bill Polian anymore an experience G.M......... and who do we blame ......he picked the coach that can't get a proper staff . I say the expectations will be very low there is nothing about him that inspires to buy tickets ............I hope that I'm wrong but we must be realistic this wiil be a tough time to be a Bills fan. My expectation this season is that we will again get a top 10 pick and Marv and Ralph will be the blame..........Marv for chosing a substandard coach who cant get a staff together and Ralph for being cheap by hiring Marv
5. ART SHELL IS GOING TO THE RAIDERS.  THAT OUGHT TO MAKE YOU "MORE BLACK COACHES" RESPONDERS HAPPY.

FYI - IM SURPRISED THAT THE "MORE WHITE PLAYERS" RESPONDERS ARE WINNING SO HANDILY

600778

See what the problem is.Do you think that he should taken this long to get a second chance? He had a winning record when he left working for Al Davis of all people he has success where as Green Bay pick a head coach with Zero experience and was dead last as a O.C or lets take Jauron to this day cant fill his staff

6. People we know the difference from player and coaching are like night and day. On the field it will always be based on performance. If a white guy can move like B.Sanders,O.J.,Willis M. both White and Black would shower them with praise because he helps the bottom line getting to the Championship. But in coaching its still a good o boy network . Example : Manangi from N.Engalnd coordinator 1 year did he do anything to make him so hot after a year to hire him to run a team when his D.cordinator before him didnt get his 1st shot until 20 years and 3 super bowl victorys we are talking about Crennel. Why would it take someone so long to hire this man .......you know the answer. This in a nutshell is what people are talking about. The Mularkys, Jaurons of the world get more than their share of shots. We have a coach in Green Bay that was dead last in the league in Offense when he was a O.C. I guess thats will make you want hire him but would we still made that choice if that same person was ............. I say Hell no

7. You have a secretary because you have no typing skills, or no intellect?

The old saying comes to mind, "Better to remain silent and have people think you're a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

The Dean can speak for himself, but I think we were both just wondering how Marv, who retired in 1996, had anything to do with drafting Erik Flowers in 2000.

But I don't want to confuse you (or your secretary) with facts - especially the fact that Marv is a former GM in the CFL.

600693

Thats too funny, My typing skills are irrelevent in this case I see we keep focusing on E.Flowers ...why not focus on J.Fina when we lost our Pro.Bowl tackle where was Marv then ...what about very light Nose tackle J.Wright when we knew we needed beef in the Middle, I forgot Marv help get j.Lodish here with a 7th round pick. Telling me Marv was a G.M. of a sub-standard League tell The Bills Nation nothing. What the Hell Montreal has to do with the N.F.L. ? Answer nothing .We as fans must realize that this pick for G.M is troubling and to sit there with rose color glasses is setting us up for a serious fall. I'm sure you see that we have more V.P. movement at O.B.D. than we have picking coaches that to me is a serious problem and its due to Marv learning on the Job. I wish Marvy poo will help his buddy fill out his staff. For all the "Love" Jauron has around the league I find it strange that he is having problems selecting a staff. We are in deep trouble for the next two years and it will no one fault but Marv and Ralph.......Ralph for hiring Marv with no experience and Marv who hired his buddy that will put out a "learning on the job " staff that got him fired before in Chicago

8. I believe he is.  Then again, from reading his post, I don't think he's the sharpest knife in the drawer.

600553

Lets not try to equate typing skills for intellect, thats why I have a secretary. I'm saying that Marv was here when we lost both tackles ,finishing J.Kelly career, and came up with Fina ....He was here when everyone in the world knew that we needed D-line(nose tackle ) help. People take the rose color glasses off .Marv doesnt know crap about being a G.M. nor did he aspire to be one. He is as un qualified as it gets he knows know more about personnel than me or you. Come with something more tangible than " Marv's a smart guy he will straighten this out crap when you have ZERO body of work to base this senseless comment on

9. Contrary to popular opinion, Marv basically had final say on the draft while Butler was the GM.

Although the personnel decisions were basically made by committee, Butler was essentially the guy who identified teh talent but Marv had final say on whether the talent fit with his needs.

During this same time, the Bills made ZERO draft day trades, preferring to let the draft come to them so they could utilize their draft board as laid out.

Levy is conservative by nature and has no need to make the flashy deal like TD.

Highly unlikely that Bills pursue any draft day trades. Only way a trade happens is if someone makes the Bills an incredible deal AND the Bills are basically still guaranteed of getting a targetted player at teh new spot.

599215

Is that we ended up with Eric Flowers or could never get a Quality nose tackle ...................No way in Heck Marv is calling the Draft ..........thank God Modrak is here to Carry the " I WOULD RATHER BE A COACH" G.M. or we would be more of laughing stock...............Memo to Marv as G.M. help your buddie fill his staff....he seams to be having trouble ....I guess everyone dont want to jump off the cliff together :pirate:
10. Or maybe they figure the turmultuous situation in Detroit could throw them into the Head Coaching job in a season or two.

598880

Looks like Marv choice is going to keep us in the Dark ages for the next 3 years ........we have a coach that keep thinking about shoop when Detroit is putting together a competent staff .............Well you guys wanted the Geriatric Club from the Ivy league well you got them

11. With Marv here, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we could land Hutch and Bentley. The era o' Donahoe is over. This is Marv's time, and we will get O-lineman up in this mix.

596366

And whats in Marv experience as a G.M. that makes you feel that way  ? Seriously. We don't have a clue what he is capable of Marv era will not last as long.

12. I'm being about 60% literal.  It isn't a secret where the ideas that work are coming from.  It had to be known within the organization.  We could have made the move last year but we didn't and LeBeau took a promotion and left, as he should have.  If I were him i wouldn't want to be JG's lackey either.

583939

So you thin jauron is going to do better than top 3 in defense in 4 of 5 years huh give me sme of what you have been smoking

13. Can you tell me what Bill Belichick's record was before he went to the Patriots? Hmm? Well ... i will tell you. In FIVE SEASONS, he only had ONE winning season. His overall record was 36-44 ...

Ouch ... he was sure the best candidate huh?

578216

You and me know that he aint no Belichick so lets be more realistic

14. I hear you, BUT:

If you're looking at Jauron's career coaching record to project his success in Buffalo, think Bill Belichick.

Belichick was 41-55 as a head coach before his first winning season in NE. When the patriots picked him up, do you think the fans were ecstatic about it? I doubt it. So before we throw this guy under the bus, let's have some patience and see what happens.

578012

I would have rather done that with Mike Sherman

15. Unless he goes 13-3, wins the super bowl, goes to the pro-bowl, kicks a 84 yard field goal, solves world hunger and then scores the winning goal for the Sabres to win the Stanley Cup, Dick Jauron will never last here. No coach will. We shall never be satisfied. Its a shame ...

... sorry - more of a vent to the critical Bills fans than anything.

577976

You are absolutely right because we as fans wanted the best candidate not someone from the old boys network . Its more than obvious that a couch who was respected like Sherman who has been to playoffs 4out of 6 years with G.M. qualifications was viewed as a threat to Marv. Buffalo Fans can see thru that and you will see Marv run out of town like his last days as coach of the Bills not because we dont like him but because he was an unqualified candidate for G.M. who only was hired because of the good -ole- boy network and his hire for a coach was the same ............Damn I miss Donohoe already

16. What has Carthon done to warrant any attention for a HC job?  He's currently with his third team in four years.  His teams have finished 26th, 21st, 25th, and 32nd in scoring the last four years,  30th,  15th,  17th,  and 26th in total offense.  I see no reason for any interest in him as Bills HC.

Sean Payton hasn't done anything,  either,  but I suspect the Bills interest in Payton is mainly due to the fact that he's considered a good QB coach.  He's not very high on my list of coaching candidates, either.

569967

About as much as the Managini character in New England

17. As the DB coach, he always managed to do a great job with whatever he had.  Holding the '04 Colts to 3 points with Troy Brown as your nickel is pretty damn impressive.

As DC, he started off slow and finished strong, so it was kind of a mixed bag.  The defense certainly did their part in both playoff games, though.

The tough part of a coordinator to HC transition is the addition of player management duties (handling player egos, handling the press, playing league politics, etc.) into the Xs and Os stuff, so I can't really say how he'll manage that end of the deal.  He has the utmost respect of Belichick, though, so that bodes well for him.

568665

He better take whatever offer is made to him ...........He hasnt done anything that special in the 1 year that he was D-cordinator to be picky................Lets see J.Gray Defense ranked top 5 in several areas in 4of the 5 years he has been here 1 interview with the possibility of being fired . Mangini 1 year D-cordinator gets a HC offer after not ranking in top 10 in anything ..........I for 1 is happy for him we will get 2 wins easily a year.....................

18. I hope you didn't throw out your shoulder reaching for this...

567956

Thats is not a srew up on his part more of a Freudian slip ..........He doesnt know spit about being a G.M. to people stop talking about him like he will be. He is a figure head learning on the Job . People be realistic we all know that Modrak is the man who is really running the show ( I for one is very comfortable with that ) That is the only saving grace of not being the laughing stock of the NFL.

19. Yes, living in NYC, the Jets do seem to have interest in Mangini.  I also have read reports that the Jets like Tice (believe it or not).

567864

Thats funny that Mangini would be considered for anything ..............lets see what's on his resume . 1st year D-cordinator not ranked in top 10 in anything . I see it took Crennel for ever to be considered for a HC job and this want a be gets a chance after 1 season of working Crennel system . I see why Carthon ,Gray, would be pissed talking about someone not paying their dues . I hope the Jets do hire him that will give us at least 2 wins lol :(
