Gabe Northern returned an interception 40 yards for a TD and Phil Hansen scored on one of his two fumble recoveries. Defensive back Eric Smedley had two of Buffalo’s five sacks, the only sacks of his four-year career. Steve Christie kicked three field goals and about the only error the Bills made was giving up a 75-yard punt return touchdown to Desmond Howard after Hansen’s only NFL touchdown put Buffalo up a 37-7 in the third quarter. The win improved the Bills record to 9-5 on the season and 8-2 with Flutie at quarterback. Attendance was 62,002 at Rich Stadium.’
