‘1990 — Bills 30, Eagles 23 — Philadelphia’s star quarterback Randall Cunningham, an All-Pro and MVP runner-up that season, made one of the most spectacular plays in stadium history when he evaded a safety by ducking under Bruce Smith in the end zone and rocket-launched the ball to midfield for Fred Barnett to score a 95-yard touchdown. Cunningham had 231 yards passing with three touchdowns and 71 yards rushing in nearly leading the Eagles back from a 24-point deficit, but a Bills team playing better than ever before was up to the task against a formidable NFC opponent. Jim Kelly passed for 334 yards with touchdowns to Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed and James Lofton, who had 174 yards on five receptions to move into third on the NFL’s all-time list. Lofton caught a 63-yard touchdown on Buffalo’s opening drive and had a 71-yarder later on. Smith and Darryl Talley each had two of the Buffalo’s six sacks, and Ray Bentley intercepted Cunningham. Attendance was 79,320 on a bright sunny Sunday at Rich Stadium as the Bills improved to 10-2, kicking off December with a notable victory after going 3-8 in the last month of the regular season over the previous three seasons.’
