Bills release C Morse among flurry of cost-cutting moves

‘Upon his release, Morse, 31, will hit free agency for the third time in his NFL career. A Pro Bowl selection in 2022, Morse appeared in 77 games with Buffalo and was a staple on the offensive line during that time.’

Bills release CB White, per reports

‘Buffalo is reportedly designating the White release as a post-June 1 cut, which will save them $10.2 million in salary cap space, with $6.2 million in dead money per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.’

Bills send OL Bates to Chicago, re-sign Edwards

‘Bills offensive guard Ryan Bates was sent to the Chicago Bears for a fifth-round pick. The Bears had signed Bates to an offer sheet in 2022, but Buffalo matched the offer, meaning he would remain with the Bills. The former Penn State guard went undrafted in 2019, spending his first five seasons with Buffalo appearing in 73 games.’

Mitch Morse, Jordan Poyer, Tre’Davious White among six players released by Bills in cost-cutting moves

‘The moves are projected to save Buffalo $36.283 million in cap space and are now roughly $6 million over the cap.’

Bills cut Jordan Poyer, Tre’Davious White in massive $36 million salary dump

‘The Bills went into Wednesday roughly $32.5 over the salary cap, according to Over The Cap, and teams need to be cap compliant before March 13, when the new league year begins.’

Former Jacksonville State star part of Buffalo Bills’ purge

‘Since Neal entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft selection from Jacksonville State in 2018, only three players in the league have more special-teams plays with one team than Neal’s 1,714 in regular-season play with the Bills. He’s also played 567 defensive snaps in 97 regular-season games. Neal also has played in 10 postseason games with Buffalo.’

Tre’Davious White, Jordan Poyer among Buffalo Bills’ major salary-cap cuts

‘Despite an “unprecedented” $30 million league-wide increase in the salary cap for the 2024 season, the Bills needed to clear cap space and make some tough decisions. The release of those six players will save the team around $36 million in salary-cap space. Teams have until the start of the new league year on March 13 to be compliant with the 2024 salary cap.’

‘The three players alone combined for 27 seasons of NFL experience, including 16 with the Bills. The moves were necessary with Buffalo entering the offseason a projected NFL-high $44 million over the salary cap.’

Bills make major roster moves in cap-cutting frenzy before 2024 season

‘The Buffalo Bills made a plethora of moves to get under the 2024 NFL salary cap, and two Pro Bowlers became cap casualties.’

Source: Mitch Trubisky, released by Steelers, to join Bills

‘Trubisky will be in line to back up quarterback Josh Allen once again after doing so in the 2021 season helped lead to an opportunity to compete for a starting role with the Pittsburgh Steelers beginning in 2022.’

Bills releasing Tre’Davious White, Jordan Poyer, Mitch Morse

‘Morse, who had one year left on his contract, had expressed a desire to stay with the Bills. Buffalo’s starting center since 2019, Morse, 31, has served as a key locker room presence and anchor of the offensive line that saw Josh Allen come away from the 2023 season with the fewest sacks of his career (24).’

Bills’ Jordan Poyer, Tre’Davious White and the cost of winning now

‘Most of the moves made this week were logical steps for a team that entered Wednesday more than $40 million over the cap. General manager Brandon Beane has been upfront about a desire to not push too much money down the road.’

Bills, ex-Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky agree to deal as veteran returns to Buffalo, per report

‘Trubisky spent the 2021 season as Josh Allen’s backup in Buffalo, throwing for 43 yards in six games played. He then scored a two-year, $14.25 million deal that included up to $27 million in incentives with the Steelers ahead of the 2022 season. The Steelers clearly targeted Trubisky in free agency, as he agreed to terms with Pittsburgh about an hour into the league’s legal tampering period.’

Bills cut Jordan Poyer, restructure Von Miller: How team freed up over $37M in cap space in busy day of moves

‘The Bills entered Wednesday dead last among all 32 teams in terms of cap space, according to Over The Cap, but they reportedly netted over $37 million with Wednesday’s transactions. They will gain an additional $10.2 million in June when the release of White becomes official. After these moves. the Bills are currently just $1,177,381 over the cap.’

Bills re-sign safety Taylor Rapp to three-year deal worth up to $14.5 million, per report

‘Rapp made the play that secured the Bills’ fourth straight AFC East title this past season, as he intercepted Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa with just over one minute remaining in the fourth quarter of their Week 18 showdown, securing a 21-14 victory for Buffalo. Now, the 26-year-old is locked in for three more years.’
