In light of five positive Covid-19 tests, Bills send rookies home

‘Third-year defensive back Siran Neal and rookie cornerback Dane Jackson became the latest members of the team to be added to the NFL’s reserve/Covid-19 list.’

Bills training camp questions: Who will win the kicker job?

‘“That’s the nature of the business,” Farwell said. “Right after we drafted (Tyler), I remember calling Steve and I said, ‘Hey, there’s two ways you can go about this. You can shut it down. But here’s the deal. You can take this as a challenge and win the job. It’s your job, you go out, do what you do, and you’re still playing and we’d love to have you here and we want you here.’”‘

Five Bills players have been placed on the NFL’s COVID-19 list

‘As of Thursday afternoon, the five who have either tested positive or have been placed in quarantine because they have been in close contact with others who have been infected are defensive back Isaiah Brown, wide receiver Duke Williams, defensive tackle Vincent Taylor, and defensive backs Siran Neal and Dane Jackson.’

10 Buffalo Bills under-the radar players for 2020: No. 9 TE Jason Croom

‘With his body type, 6-foot-5, 245 pounds, the thought was that he could provide a downfield threat from the tight end position once he gained more experience and improved his blocking.’

Maiorana’s Memories: In 2007, Bills suffered a Monday night meltdown like no other

‘“It’s indescribable,” said Williams, who at this point was in just his second NFL season. “That’s all I can say, indescribable. Unless you’ve played this game and had something taken away from you like that, you can’t put it into words.’’’

Buffalo Bills now at 5 players on Reserve/Covid 19 list, add S Siran Neal, CB Dane Jackson

‘The player doesn’t have to have tested positive to be added to the list. A player can be added for coming into contact with another person(s) that have contracted the coronavirus.’

Buffalo Bills send rookies home for virtual meetings to stay ahead of COVID curve

‘“The Buffalo Bills today I’m told sent home all of the rookies they had inside the building that were going to be a part of meetings there,” Garafolo said on NFL Network. “The Bills have had some positive COVID tests that they have reported. They’ve got guys on the reserve/COVID list. So what they’re trying to do is they’re trying to stay ahead of it. They said we were going to have these meetings here today. Why don’t we just go and do it virtually. So they sent all those guys home and they’re having their meetings virtually. Then they’ll regather again at some point maybe as early as tomorrow and go forward. The Bills just trying to stay ahead of it as they possibly can. And all these teams learning that it’s going to be a mix of virtual and in-person anyway. There might be some days where we have a plan to do things in person and you know what we’re going to do it virtually today. That was the Bills today. It might be your team tomorrow.”’

Is it the end of the line for Robert Foster, Duke Williams? (Buffalo Bills 2020 WR training camp preview)

‘That leaves one, maybe two spots, for the rest of the receivers on the Bills’ roster. Isaiah McKenzie is a small, quick receiver that has versatility along the formation. He can run end arounds, catch screen passes, line up in the backfield and more. The question is does he offer enough to warrant a spot?’

Bills rookies sent home after positive coronavirus tests

‘Under the NFL’s training camp mandate, players must register three negative tests in a five-day span to enter the facility. Although teams are not required to shut down their facility for a positive test, the Bills chose to minimize risk by sending players home for the day.’

Bills send rookies home from team facility after five positive coronavirus tests, per report

‘Players began reporting to team facilities last Thursday, and they must record three negative COVID-19 tests before they are allowed to begin physicals and get their hands on team equipment. On Tuesday, the NFLPA announced that there have been 21 positive tests in the testing conducted as part of the training camp reporting process. Rookies, injured players and quarterbacks were allowed to start reporting last week while veterans from most teams began reporting to camp on Tuesday.’

Bills Send Rookies Home From Team Facility After Positive COVID-19 Tests

‘While the Bills were not required to shut their facility down following the positive test, the team decided to minimize risk by sending its players home. As a result of the decision, the team held virtual meetings on Thursday instead of holding in-person meetings as scheduled.’

DBs Siran Neal, Dane Jackson placed on Reserve/Covid list

‘While being placed on the Reserve/Covid list can mean that a player either tested positive or was in close contact with someone who did, the Bills confirmed to ESPN that five players have tested positive, and provided the following statement: “As we were informed by medical experts as training camp opened, we expected to have positive tests for COVID,” the team said in a statement to ESPN. “With 5 since the beginning of the testing period last Tuesday, we decided to take a disciplined, proactive and preventative approach to hopefully eliminate additional cases within our team.”‘

Five Bills players have tested positive for COVID-19

‘The Bills have now had five players test positive since they started administering tests last Tuesday.’

Bills roster in-depth: Tight Ends

‘Fans complain about how often Smith is used, but he was on the field for less than 30% of the offensive snaps last year (and more than 25% in only one of the last seven game), and is one of the best blockers in the NFL for his position. Almost every team has a guy like Smith, and it’s good to have one. The Bills also gave Smith a three-year, $9 million deal, and cutting him would only save $1.75 million versus $1.5 million still on the cap as dead money.’

Five Bills players have tested positive for COVID-19

‘While the Bills were not required to send players home, they did so to take extra precautions based on the positive test results. Any player who is placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list can return to the facility and practice once they’ve passed the appropriate tests. Based on league guidelines, there is no minimum time a player needs to be placed on the list.’
