‘”I think, you take away one throw, that was the best overall game I’ve played so far,” Allen said. “So there’s progress there, trusting the five guys in front of me, trusting the receivers to go get open, I felt comfortable in the pocket. And our defense, again, played outstanding. That’s something we know they’re going to do, week in and week out.”‘

Bills’ Duke Williams supports Zay Jones after game-winning TD in NFL debut
‘“Someone who has came through so much and has worked his tail off to be in this position,” Jones said, “and then have it pay off, and being able to celebrate with his teammates, everyone here is proud of him. It was an awesome thing to see. You can’t say enough about a guy who’s really done everything right. He’s really deserving of it. The guy, he’s a great football player and everyone’s really excited for him.”’
Bills’ defense continues to raise the bar in win over Titans
‘“We’re built for this,” defensive tackle Jordan Phillips said. “Week in, week out, you guys see the same thing every week. It’s just time for the world to see it. We’re finally starting to get the respect we deserve, but we’re going to keep going and try to do what we do.”’
Bills’ Brian Daboll schemed up big play for ‘Joystick’ at right time
‘Daboll saved the first jet-sweep play of the game for a critical moment with 11:23 left.’
Officials were in middle of many key calls as Bills edged Titans
‘The officials blew a key encroachment penalty on Trent Murphy with the Titans at the Bills’ 10. Both Titans tight ends moved first. Bad call. The Titans scored two plays later.’
Timely play calls, big special teams play contribute to Bills’ win
‘A week after getting an “F” grade, Sean McDermott and Co. responded with a strong performance. Offensive coordinator Brian Daboll dialed up a few impressive plays, including the Smith touchdown, McKenzie’s long gain and Allen’s first-down run that allowed the team to run out the clock. It’s a credit to the coaching staff that the players who came into the game as injury replacements didn’t miss a beat.’
Duke Williams’ NFL debut includes game-winning TD catch as Bills beat Titans 14-7
‘In a game that could only be described as laughably mistake-prone, the Bills survived at Nissan Stadium and came away with a 14-7 victory over a Tennessee team that had two touchdowns wiped out by penalty, and four field goals missed by its kicker, Cairo Santos.’
Bills survive a slugfest to beat Titans as Duke Williams rose up when his moment arrived
‘“It meant a lot,” Williams said following Buffalo’s 14-7 victory over the Titans that sends the Bills into their bye week with a 4-1 record. “It’s a long ride, a lot of people don’t know my journey. All I can do is thank God, my teammates, thank everyone around me, my family, they supported me a lot. I’m overwhelmed, there’s so much emotion going through my mind right now. I’m just thankful for the opportunity.”’
Bills report card: Defense and Bills Mafia deserve top grades
‘“Bills Mafia won this game,” Hyde said. “They continue to impress us. They were excited to get down here, they circled it on the schedule as soon it came out.”’
Did Sunday’s win indicate it might be Bills’ year?
‘The Bills’ 14-7 triumph was reminiscent of another NFL era and needed a major contribution from Tennessee kicker Cairo Santos but, as the cliche goes, “It’s not how … it’s how many.”’
Duke Williams catches first TD after practice squad call-up
‘The win marked the first time the Bills have won their first three road games of the season since 1993. The last time the Bills started 4-1 was 2011.’
‘The Duke’ is loose: Rookie WR Duke Williams leads Bills to road win over Titans: 5 instant observations
‘Williams took almost all of Zay Jones’ snaps this week and the former second round pick’s spot on the roster could be in jeopardy. The rumor mill will be working overtime during the bye week.’
Bills’ Jordan Phillips, who was ‘terror on inside’ vs. Titans, a critical piece of elite defense
‘Phillips called his shot and went out and delivered. He sacked Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota three times to help lift the Bills to 4-1 for the first time since 2011. It’s the first time in Phillips career — high school, college or the NFL – that he’s finished a game with three sacks. The last Bills player to accomplish the feat was Lorenzo Alexander in 2016. All three of Phillips’ sacks came in the first half. Former defensive end Mario Williams was the last Bills player (2013) to do the same.’
’You entertained yet?’ Buffalo Bills players, coaches react to 14-7 win over Tennessee Titans
‘Left guard Quinton Spain joined the Bills this offseason after the Titans felt they could upgrade from the lineman. He quieted the critics on Twitter following the game.’

‘Allen limited his mistakes and played smart football.’
Buffalo Bills remain perfect on road: 8 reasons to be encouraged, 2 reasons to worry following 14-7 win over Titans
‘Minus one interception to Kevin Byard, Allen did a good job of protecting the football. He was smart with his throws and did not try to force anything. Allen took one shot when running with the football, but generally got down before taking on contact. When all was said and done, Allen put together a pretty strong stat line. He completed 23-of-32 passes (72%) for 219 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while finishing with a career-high QB rating of 98.3. He also sealed Sunday’s game with a quarterback run.’
Bye week comes at a perfect time for the 4-1 Bills
‘When a team is on a roll like the Buffalo Bills have been to start the season, it seems odd to think that time off would be a good thing, but that’s exactly what is the case for the Bills this coming week. From an offense that needs to figure things out to a defense that desperately needs a breather after carrying the team the first five weeks of the season — with plenty of injuries that need healing, as well — the Bills get their break at the right time. Now, the team can relax before preparing for three straight home games, starting with the lowly Miami Dolphins in Week 7.’
Sullivan: Bills, Titans come full circle, 20 years after throwback
‘The Bills are still a work in progress, as coach Sean McDermott and the players will be quick to tell you. They’re an imperfect team in an imperfect league with no truly great teams and what seems like two dozen franchises that are struggling with poor offensive lines. But they’re now 4-1, still third in the AFC. They’re a flawed team, but a probable playoff team.’
Meiler: Fluellen setting stellar example in Tennessee
‘Life is supposed to be glamorous for professions athletes. You work for years, and if you’re lucky enough to make it, you’re in. Obviously, it’s not nearly that simple. And few know that better than Lockport native David Fluellen.’
Buffalo Bills Week 5 Report Card: Duke Williams catches TD in debut, Bills beat Titans
‘The Bills’ offensive line didn’t have a good day against another stout defense. Allen was sacked four times and the Bills couldn’t establish the run against the Titans. It didn’t help that the Bills lost Mitch Morse to injury and rookie tackle Cody Ford was banged up. Ford didn’t have a good game before his injury. The Bills continue to have problems on the right side of the line. It’s a major problem for them.’
Ex-Eskimos receiver Duke Williams hero for Bills in NFL debut
‘So many Bills fans were on hand at Nissan Stadium in Nashville that at times on TV it sounded like fans cheered louder for good Bills plays. A couple times you could even hear Bills fans chanting, “Duuuuuuuuuke!”’
Bills fans make their presence known inside Nissan Stadium
‘Titans fans still made up a majority and were also making noise, but Nissan Stadium sounded like a neutral field atmosphere on Sunday.’

Josh Allen Throws 2 TD Passes As Bills Smother Titans 14-7
‘The Bills (4-1) now have won three consecutive games away from Buffalo for the first time since 2004, though so many Buffalo fans traveled here it felt much more like a home game.’
Ex-Buffalo Bills Player Accused Of Pulling Gun On Pranksters
‘Police say Robinson drove around searching for the car carrying the five teens and then ordered two of them out of their vehicle at gunpoint. It’s unclear who called authorities and how the confrontation ended.’
Buffalo beats Tennessee 14-7 in a defensive showdown
‘Buffalo suffered several injuries on both offense and defense, as center Mitch Morse, offensive tackle Cody Ford, linebacker Matt Milano and defensive end Trent Murphy all were injured and did not return to the game.’
Jordan Phillips helps boost sack department vs Tennessee
‘”We have a great secondary and a great defensive line,” Phillips said. “We all work together and I was the one that was able to get the sacks.”‘
Bills defense dominant… again
‘I’ll get to Allen’s game in a moment because the story of the game was the Bills defense. They dominated their matchup with the Titans offense holding quarterback Marcus Mariota and company to one touchdown and a grand total of 252 yards. The Titans had 11 possessions on offense and six of those were three and outs. They didn’t convert a third down until the second half and were just 1-3 in the red zone. The Bills defensive line was too much for Tennessee’s offensive line. Buffalo recorded five sacks of Mariota, three of which came from Jordan Phillips. The Bills defense has now allowed only six touchdowns in the first five games and no opponent has scored more than 17 points.’
The letter ‘D’ is for dominant
‘Dominant is the word. 252 total yards for the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. One touchdown allowed and that came on a short field drive following a Josh Allen interception. Yes, the Titans missed 4 field goals as Cairo Santos had a very tough day, so that was helpful. At least one of those misses was partially blocked by Darryl Johnson but still, it’s pretty rare to see a kicker miss that many kicks in one game and in a tight low scoring affair it was a big deal.’
Arrow Up/Arrow Down – Bills at Titans
‘Taking into consideration his decision-making and passing all together, the Bills QB played probably his best overall half football for the first thirty minutes, going 17-for-21 for 146 yards and a TD pass. He made one crucial mistake by throwing a ball he shouldn’t early in the third quarter that resulted in an interception. But, otherwise, Allen took what the defense gave him, didn’t try to force the issue, took sacks, and threw the ball away when needed. He finished the game 23-for-32 (71.8%) for 219 yards and 2 TDs passing, plus another 19 yards on the ground. A solid performance for Allen coming off a week of being in concussion protocol.’
Bills defense stands tall in 14-7 win over the Tennessee Titans
‘Offensively, Josh Allen threw 23 of 32 for 219 yards and two touchdowns after being limited in practice for most of the week due to a concussion.’
Duke Williams scores game-winning TD one day after being promoted from practice squad
‘”He makes plays,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said about his rookie wideout after the game. “He’s a young player and I thought he gave us something today.”‘
Williams scores game-winning TD in NFL debut
‘Outside of allowing that quick score, the Bills defense once again displayed their dominance, sacking Marcus Mariota a season best five times.’
4 Observations: Bills Sack Titans 14-7
‘The Bills have done a decent job creating pressure all season but they didn’t have a lot of sacks to show for it, that changed in Nashville. The defense racked up 5 sacks, led by Jordan Phillips who took down Marcus Mariota 3 times. In the postgame locker room, Lorenzo Alexander said it was a combination of Mariota holding onto the ball too long and the secondary locking down the Tennessee wide receivers.’
Bills win defensive battle against Titans 14-7, improve to 4-1 on the season
‘That 7-7 deadlock held until the Bills were able to break through in the fourth quarter. Duke Williams caught a seven yard touchdown pass from Allen which put the Bills up 14-7 with 9:46 left in the game.’
Duke Williams debut comes with tears pregame, cheers postgame
‘“It took me a long time to get back here,” Williams said. “I know everybody was probably like, ‘he ain’t gonna do it’. I stayed down. I had to. Humbled myself. Grew as a man and started to put everybody else first besides myself. And that’s what I’m going to continue to do.”’
Bills win because their “next man up” is better than yours
‘I didn’t think this Bills team would be a playoff squad because they didn’t have enough world beating talent at the top of the roster. What Brandon Beane has done is put his team in excellent shape to control the wild card race because the 10th through 53rd best guys on his roster are almost always better than the group on the other sideline.’

‘“(The Bills fans) took that ride,” wide receiver Duke Williams said. “They traveled and they came here and made it a home game for us. We were comfortable. We played our game and we played our style. We worked hard all week long. The defense played a hell of a game, and they kept giving us the ball back. We had to execute, but the fans played a big part as well. It’s a big shout out to them.”’
Top 3 things we learned from Bills at Titans | Week 5
‘“He handled it the way he handles every day. He goes and attacks it,” said Josh Allen of Williams. “He’s one of the guys who you love to have on the team because of the way he approaches the game, the way he approaches practice. I think a lot of guys appreciate what he’s done for us, not even being on the active roster and being on the practice squad and the juice that he gives us. You see today he gets the opportunity and he makes the most of it.”’
