‘But Dennison put an exclamation on his dubious choice of plays with a totally botched series late in the second quarter of Sunday’s season-ending loss when Buffalo seemed set to take a 7-0 lead.’

Decision on Tyrod Taylor looms for Bills GM Brandon Beane, coach Sean McDermott
‘“You want a franchise quarterback. Everybody does,” he said. “I said that back when I got here. That’s one of the GM’s main jobs is to have a franchise quarterback. It’s a quarterback league. Where you get it, I really don’t care. If you give me one, whether he’s on the street now, whether he’s a free agent, whether I draft him, I’ll take one anywhere.”’
Sean McDermott on Rick Dennison’s future as Bills’ OC: ‘I’m not going to get into speculation’
‘The Bills’ offense was a disaster during the 2017 season. It ranked 29th overall in the NFL and 31st in passing. Thanks mainly to the remarkable talent of LeSean McCoy, the team ranked sixth in rushing, although it slipped from its No. 1 perch the previous two seasons. The Bills also scored a mere 28 offensive touchdowns after generating 40 in 2016.’
Beane acknowledges Bills have ammo to move up in draft with 8 picks in first 5 rounds
‘”You want a franchise quarterback, everybody does. I said that back when I got here: That’s one of the GM’s main jobs is to have a franchise quarterback. It’s a quarterback league,” Beane said. “Where you get it, I really don’t care. If you give me one, whether he’s on the street now, whether he’s a free agent, whether I draft him, I’ll take one anywhere.”‘
‘Who doesn’t love Kyle Williams?’ 12-year vet is welcome back to Bills if he chooses
‘”You definitely would want that back but it’s a two-way thing. He’s going to reflect, I know he’s heading home to Louisiana. We’ll give him time just to sit back. After a long season, after a long career, he needs time to sit back and at the right time we’ll get together, but we’d definitely love to have Kyle back.”‘
Jerry Sullivan: If allegations are true, Incognito has to go
‘Yes, Incognito is a Pro Bowl guard and one of the presumed leaders on a team that reached the playoffs for the first time in 18 years. He’s good for a quip in the locker room, a refreshing character. But if there’s a shred of truth to accusations that he made racially insensitive comments to a Jacksonville player, he has to be gone.’
Bills notebook: Cordy Glenn has foot surgery; Beane ‘very critical’ of game management
‘That leaves the Bills in a bit of a conundrum. They paid Glenn handsomely in a 2016 extension that made him one of the highest-paid players at his position. Cutting him would be expensive, and even a trade would leave the Bills with significant dead cap space. So the best course of action, if Glenn can return healthy from nagging foot and ankle injuries, may be to move Dawkins to right tackle for the time being.’
What They Said: Bills GM Brandon Beane, coach Sean McDermott wrap up season
‘No, you know we have a long way to go. We really do. We have a lot of work to do. We’re trying to compete and win everyday. We really are. I know we said it and people drew their own conclusions of what our strategy was or what this team was or was not going to be. The great thing was this team defined itself in their prep every day on and off the field to get the results.’
Rick Dennison’s future as Bills offensive coordinator yet to be determined
‘“We are literally just evaluating,” Beane said. “We spent all day (Monday) talking with players, just getting some recon of plans for the off-season, feedback, and Sean and I are going to sit down over the next few days and start evaluating a lot of the things that happened this year and how we’re going to take it forward.”’
What a difference a year makes at One Bills Drive
‘ “We’re building this together,’’ McDermott said. “We’re aligned philosophically how the process should take shape.”‘
Bills GM Beane says NFL investigating accusation that Richie Incognito used racial slur
‘Incognito did not speak to reporters Monday when the media was in the locker room for a 75-minute period of time as the players packed up their belongings. He still has not commented on the accusation, though Beane said Incognito is trying to reach out to Ngakoue. Beane did not know if that contact has been made.’
Brandon Beane, Sean McDermott discuss Rick Dennison, Tyrod Taylor and Bills’ offense
‘”We’re not satisfied with the whole offense,” Beane said. “It wasn’t just about Tyrod. There’s a lot of hands in the cookie jar so to speak. Sean and I, we’re going to talk about everything. We know we have to get better on offense, on defense, on special teams. We’re far from a finished product. I don’t know if you’re ever hear us say we’re a finished product. We have a lot of work to do and we know that. That’s going to get started pretty quickly after this press conference.”‘
Should the Buffalo Bills bring back Kyle Williams? Brandon Beane is interested
‘”Who doesn’t love Kyle Williams?” Beane said. “I have nothing but positives to say about Kyle Williams. To see that moment in the locker room I referred to earlier. Him and his sons and just what that meant and what Kyle’s meant to this city. He’s a big-time leader. I had a good conversation with him yesterday. I know Sean had a conversation. He was a big part of the leadership not only on our defense but on our team. You would definitely want that back, but it’s a two-way thing. He’s going to reflect. I know he’s heading home to Louisiana.’
Why Leonard Johnson wants to stay with Buffalo Bills long term
‘”I knew exactly what I was getting into,” Johnson said. “Honestly, it’s what I thought. Even down to the personnel and the type of guys that I knew he wanted to have on the team and around the organization.”‘
What Buffalo Bills said about racism accusations against Richie Incognito
‘”Anytime you have an accusation like that, you take it very seriously,” Bills general manager Brandon Beane said. “We have spoken to Richie and understand his side of the story. I know Richie is trying to reach out to the other young man that was involved. From what I understand, it was a little bit of on the field stuff back and forth. I know there’s one accusation. We’re looking into it. I’ve spoken with the league. We’re going to follow protocol. That’s really where it’s at.’
5 takeaways from Brandon Beane’s end of season press conference
‘“One of the GM’s main jobs is to have a franchise quarterback. It’s a quarterback league. Where you get it, I really don’t care. If you give me one, whether he’s on the street now, whether he’s a free agent, whether I draft him, I’ll take one anywhere.”’
5 takeaways from Sean McDermott’s end of season press conference
‘Perhaps the most burning question for the Bills in regard to their staff, since both Beane & McDermott are pretty safe after cracking a 17-year playoff drought, would be the status of offensive coordinator Rick Dennison. Rico doesn’t have a good outlook for him.’

Jaguars defender insists Bills’ Incognito used ‘weak racist slurs’
‘Incognito was suspended for the final eight games of that 2013 season, and for a time was seen as so toxic a locker-room presence that no team signed him in 2014. The Bills finally did early in 2015. Up to now, there had been no reports nor indications Incognito – who is white – has been anything less than an exemplary teammate and performer.’
Buffalo Bills vice president of player personnel Brian Gaine the favorite in Texans’ GM search
‘Gaine had an impressive interview, according to multiple people in the organization, not surprising considering his knowledge of the Texans and his familiarity with owner Bob McNair, vice chairman Cal McNair, president Jamey Rootes and coach Bill O’Brien. Gaine worked for the Texans for three seasons (2014-16) as director of pro personnel and director of player personnel under former general manager Rick Smith.’
Bills GM keeping options open in deciding QB Taylor’s future
‘”We’re going to make the best decision. I’m literally going to go back and watch how he played at the beginning of the year, how he played in the middle of the year and how he played in the end. We’ll see,” Beane said Tuesday after he and coach Sean McDermott held an end-of-season news conference.’

[coach] Sean [McDermott] and I, we’re going to talk about everything. We know we have to get better on offense, on defense, on special teams. We are far from a finished product.”‘

QB, OC among questions surrounding Bills as offseason begins
‘Neither man confirmed that the quarterback or offensive coordinator would be returning, nor suggested they would be moving on from either of them, which left plenty of room for interpretation about what their plans will be for the offense and specifically the QB position for 2018.’
Full transcript: Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott year-end press conference
‘We have a lot of work to do. We’re trying to compete and win everyday. We really are. I know we said it and people drew their own conclusions of what our strategy was or what this team was or was not going to be. The great thing was this team defined itself in their prep every day on and off the field to get the results.’
Joe B: 7 takeaways from Bills GM Brandon Beane & HC Sean McDermott (1/9/18)
‘The fact that McDermott didn’t outright say that Dennison was safe, put a bit of an ominous feel to the whole discussion. I would not be surprised in the least bit if the Bills announced within the next week or two that Dennison will no longer be with the franchise.’
Tre’Davious White named PFF Rookie of the Year

Bills shed little light on futures of Taylor, Dennison
‘”Tyrod has a lot of ability. he did a lot of good things,” Beane said. “He’ll tell you, he has weaknesses to work on like a lot of other guys. You can never question his work ethic. He gives himself the best chance to succeed on the field because of what he does off.”‘
Bills support Incognito, investigation ongoing
‘”There was definitely an exchange. I think there was a misunderstanding of what was said,” Beane said.’
Loss Brings Mixed Emotions
‘And so we as fans begin the long offseason with a frustrating loss stuck clearly in our minds. It’s never a good time when you lose, especially when it also means the end of season and no shot to continue and become champion. There are many question marks about the future – who will be under center for the Bills next year, how will the Bills address the other weaknesses on the team, how can they find a way to win 10 or more games next year? With these questions come opportunities – opportunities for new players who will be drafted, possibly new coaches/and new system (a new offensive coordinator would be great). Heck, they’ll probably even be some opportunities to watch some great games and show what a great fan base the Bills have, and for that I’m very pleased – I hope you are as well.’

We know we have to get better on offense, defense and special teams. We are far from a finished product. We have a lot of work to do and we know that. That’s going to get started pretty quickly after this press conference.”’
Bills Today: Lorenzo has another year left in the tank
‘“I mean, that’s the plan for me. Obviously, the organization has to make a decision on whether or not they want to keep me,” said Alexander during Monday’s locker room cleanout. “Then once that happens, I have to earn my right back on this team. Until, March, the league year is not over so I’ll still be coming up here, getting treatment, working out to start preparing myself for the offseason.”’
