Bills CB McGee questionable after re-injuring knee

‘Buffalo Bills starting cornerback Terrence McGee missed practice a day after aggravating a knee injury, leaving him questionable to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.’

Stevie making case for Pro Bowl

‘”I think because he had never done it before, the fact that he’s gotten it so fast, I think it shocks a lot of people,” said Ryan Fitzpatrick. “But the talent that the guy has (is something) a lot of people in here have seen all along. We knew that he was a guy that could do some amazing things and it’s nice to see that translate on the field once he got his opportunity.”‘

Buffalo Bills likely to keep Ryan Fitzpatrick as starting quarterback in 2011, coach says

‘"He’s played extremely well; how would you not think that (he’d be the starter in 2011)?" Gailey said. "I don’t give anything away; guys earn it, and he’s earned it."’

Gailey gives Fitzpatrick a vote of confidence

‘"I’m a guy that’s kind of had to work my way into the league, work my way into the starting lineup, and it’s a place that I’d like to be. It’s a place that I’m comfortable with. It’s obviously something that I’d like to continue to do is to be the starter."’

Fitzpatrick’s play turning heads at One Bills Drive

‘By now, Fitz has learned to be wary. He won the job last year, then watched as Gailey handed it back to Edwards. But it’s hard to imagine another quarterback walking in and being instantly capable of expressing Gailey’s offensive vision.’

Fashion police fine Johnson

‘Johnson said he doesn’t regret wearing the T-shirt with the words “Why so serious?” written on them. But Johnson said he has learned a lesson. Asked if the fine discourages him from further demonstrations, Johnson said: “Yeah, it does. I’ll just be smarter about it. I didn’t go in expecting to get fined. It was just a fun gesture and I got in trouble for it.”‘

Thankful for winning

‘”It was a good experience,” he said. “I am trying to help this team wherever and whenever I can. When my number was called I went in there and did my job.”‘

Bills standout Posluszny supports Paterno’s decision to stay

‘”I feel like if it ever got to the point where his being there was detrimental to the program, he would do what’s best for the program,” Posluszny said yesterday during a conference call with Steelers reporters. “As long as he’s an asset to the program and the school, which he is, I think he has the right to stay.”‘

‘Poz’ feels buzz around Buffalo

‘”We still have a long way to go. We’re still 2-8. There’s no hiding that. But I think we’re headed in the right direction. We have all the right people in place. We have the ability to win games. We just have to go out and play with a lot of confidence and win those games.”‘

Despite struggles, Paul Posluszny says Bills know how to win

‘”But we’ve won two straight now, and we believe we’re finally on track. There’s no hiding that we’re 2-8, but we’re finally playing better and know what it takes to win games,” he said.’

Buffalo Bills Conference Calls

‘Well, you go out every week trying to win the game. Our guys have continued to work and continued to get better, but didn’t have anything to show for it. It was great for them to be able to have something to show for and get that monkey off their back of not having a win. Then, to come back the way they did last week, it was a testament to the character of our football team.’

Inside slant

‘By winning twice, the Bills may very well have taken themselves out of the running for the No. 1 pick (one-win Carolina seems a lock to get Luck, the Stanford star and top-rated prospect). But Gailey could care less.’

Strategy and personnel

‘Buffalo has every reason to feel good after stringing together two wins after an 0-8 start, but Pittsburgh represents a much stiffer test than Detroit and the Bengals. The Bills’ offense has turned into a high-flying act under coach Chan Gailey, who will try and spread things out with four- and five-wide looks rather than pound the ball against Pittsburgh’s No. 1-ranked run defense (63 yard per game). But that comes with a risk; the Steelers have compiled 30 sacks and keeping Fitzpatrick off his back against their elaborate zones won’t be easy. The Bills can’t afford to forget about RB Fred Jackson totally.’
