Joke’s on Johnson this time

‘”In this business, there’s two types of people – the humble and the humbled – and if you’re not in the first group, you’ll be in the second group at some point in time,” Gailey said. “You can go from the penthouse to the outhouse in a hurry, but how you handle it is the key. He’s a good man. He’s a competitor. I think he’ll come back. … I hurt for him.”‘

Bad Bills keep finding ways to lose close games

‘But maybe what he didn’t think about was the fact if the other miscues his team committed throughout the game didn’t happen, he would not have been put into that situation to begin with.’

Win slips through Bills’ hands after Johnson’s drop

‘”You’ve got this kid coming up in the NFL making plays and all of the sudden when the biggest play needs to be made, you don’t make it,” said the third-year receiver out of Kentucky, who has nine touchdown catches this season. “You feel bad. I’m devastated right now.”‘

3-Point Stance

‘The Steelers had 10 penalties for 107 yards. They were lucky they were playing Buffalo.’

Steelers pull out 19-16 OT win over Bills

‘Buffalo (2-9) blew an opportunity to win it with 10:30 left in overtime. Wide receiver Stevie Johnson got in behind the Steelers secondary but dropped a 40-yard pass on the run, while he was 2 yards into the end zone.’

Steelers LB Harrison penalized for roughing QB

‘Harrison has been docked $80,000 for hits this season, and was called to the NFL office in New York recently regarding how rules designed to protect players from injury are being enforced.’

Bills DE Edwards limps off after hurting hamstring

‘Edwards was hurt on the Steelers’ opening possession Sunday, when he fell awkwardly while being pushed from behind by center Maurkice Pouncey. Edwards lay on the field clutching his left leg before being helped up by trainers. He limped to the sideline before being loaded into a cart.’

Bills RB Spiller out against Pittsburgh

‘Spiller missed his second straight game because of a hamstring injury. McGee had played the past two games, but left practice early Wednesday after a nerve problem behind his knee that required surgery flared up.’

Pittsburgh 19, Buffalo 16 (OT)

‘Fred Jackson went for 104 yards and a touchdown on five catches and contributed 59 rushing yards, while Steve Johnson posted 68 yards on seven grabs but dropped a potential game-winning TD pass early in the extra session.’

Steelers beat Bills 19-16 in OT

‘The Bills had a good chance to take the lead, but Troy Polamalu intercepted Ryan Fitzpatrick in the end zone at 2:26 in the fourth quarter.’

Reaction: Steelers 19 – Bills 16 OT

‘I feel bad for the guy, I really do. But that was an ultimate and epic fail on the part of Stevie Johnson. But the thing about it is he had (on my count, not CBS) four legitimate drops throughout the entire game. That’s just not acceptable. He’s had his off days in the past, but it doesn’t compare to the type of flop that he had against Pittsburgh because the spotlight of the world was on him based on his Week 11 performance. He’s got to learn to focus. That’s just mental mistakes time and time again. He cost the Bills the game today. Not only on that play, but on the Troy Polamalu interception as well. I hope it was fun while it lasted. He needs to put a smile back on that face of his.’

There was more to this loss than Stevie Johnson

‘So as you can see, it wasn’t just Johnson not making a play. If this offense was just a tiny bit better at making plays, we’d be looking at a six games winning streak right now and a 6-5 record. Wrapped around the Bills two game winning streak is four losses by three or less points.’

Immediate Reactions: Steelers 19, Bills 16 (OT)

‘One thing is for sure: even though Johnson’s failure was not intended, “The Joker” had pulled his cruelest ruse to date.’

Steve Johnson – Like Bills – Must Move Forward

‘What matters now, is what happens in the next 5 games. Rest assured Johnson’s teammates still support him, and Fitzpatrick most of all, but while that helps, it’s Johnson who must put it behind him and move forward.’
