‘Ryan Fitzpatrick threw four touchdowns passes, three of them to Stevie Johnson. Fitzpatrick topped 300 yards passing for the second time this year.’

‘ The men up front didn’t control it, but they had a decent day nonetheless. The Bengals were without two starting linemen, and they ranked 31st in sacks and 23rd against the run. It was a matchup the Bills needed to win, and they did. Fitzpatrick was sacked only once and the Bills ran for 141 yards while scoring 42 points on offense.’

‘Chan Gailey gets high marks for keeping his team going after it fell behind 28-7. The Bills play hard, and they never quit, and the same can’t be said of the Bengals. The offensive plan was smart, especially when the Bengals lost three DBs to injury during the game. The Bills attacked, and it worked. On defense, the Bills were getting shredded early, but they adjusted well and played great in the second half, so kudos to George Edwards for some nice work. GRADE: B-plus.’

‘The Bills outscored the Bengals, 41-3, after falling behind, 28-7, in the second quarter. Buffalo trailed, 31-14, at halftime.’

‘”I wasn’t even playing last year, so the defenses don’t really know who I am,” he said. “But they know who 83 [Evans] is, so it’s easy for them to roll coverage over there and leave me wide open. When you do that, I have some room to go and make some plays. That’s pretty much what it is.”‘

It just took us a while to calm down, settle down and go about the game plan like we should, and that’s press those guys on the outside and try to disrupt the timing because [Bengals quarterback] Carson [Palmer] gets a little jittery when he gets pressure around him. We weren’t able to do that in the first quarter like we should have and we shut them out in the second half.”‘

‘”We’re playing our tails off for most of the game,” said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis. “They’re playing right down to the fibers of their bodies and giving everything they’ve got.”‘

‘Gailey had great game play-calling and kept team focused after terrible first half. Defense made adjustments to shut out Bengals after halftime.’

‘”Sweet. It wasn’t just another game for me,” said Fitzpatrick. “It was such a rough start, but I knew the guys would stick with me and that huddle was confident the whole time.”‘
