Packers, Bills among teams set to shock

‘Their break is "non-common" non-division games against the Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs, which are winnable. Plus, Terrell Owens should add scoring punch to their offense. He usually takes an offense to an average of 24.0 ppg or better because of his ability to catch touchdown passes. The Bills averaged 21.0 ppg last year. A two-point improvement could put them at 9-7.’

Bills agree to extension with RB Jackson

‘Over his three years in the NFL, all with Buffalo, he has gained 871 yards on 188 carries with three scores and added 59 catches for 507 yards.’

Bills’ RB Jackson agrees to contract extension

‘He’ll compete with Dominic Rhodes(notes) to start this season in place of Lynch, who’ll miss the first three games while serving an NFL suspension.’

Bills, Jackson agree to contract extension

‘Jackson was an exclusive rights free agent so he couldn’t negotiate with any other team. The Bills had made him a minimum contract offer of $460,000 under which Jackson would have played had a new deal not been negotiated.’

Bills and RB Jackson agree on contract extension

‘The three-year veteran has played in 24 career games with four starts. In 2008, Jackson set a career-high with 571 rushing yards on 130 carries including three touchdowns and added 37 catches for 317 yards.’

WR Johnson’s role to expand?

‘”Definitely,” said head coach Dick Jauron. “We expect him to compete. He plays well. He gets on the field and makes plays. I’m really looking forward to see him back here.”‘

Ex-Rams linebacker Tinoisamoa in for visit

‘Tinoisamoa, who turns 28 in July, would represent an upgrade over both of them. He is athletic with good instincts, speed, range and a nose for the football.’

T.O.’s reality show ready to hit Buffalo

‘VH-1 confirmed Tuesday that filming of the Buffalo portion of T.O.’s television reality show will begin Sunday, a day before the Bills open minicamp. The footage is being gathered for a series that follows the day-to-day life of the high-profile star receiver. It is scheduled to premier on the cable network in late July.’

Bills sign DE McGhee, DB Ward; release LB Hall

‘The Bills on Tuesday also released linebacker Vince Hall(notes), who finished last season on Buffalo’s practice squad.’

Bills sign DE McGhee and DB Ward

‘The Buffalo Bills announced the team has signed free agent defensive end Jermaine McGhee and free agent defensive back Kyle Ward.’

Byrd’s Pro Bowl tutors

‘Byrd’s first tutor was his father, Gill Byrd, a former first-round pick of the San Diego Chargers and two-time Pro Bowl cornerback. With 42 career interceptions the elder Byrd had valuable football knowledge to pass on to his two sons, Gill Jr. and Jairus.’

Developer pays $535,000 for home of Jim Kelly

‘It had been rumored that running back Marshawn Lynch was buying the Kelly property. Amy Pfister, of Prestige Home Realty of East Aurora, the real estate agent who listed Kelly’s house, said confusion may have arisen because she also has a listing for a home owned by Lynch on Briercliff Drive in Hamburg.’

The Bills’ Offense, and the Limits of Spreading It Around

‘What this shows is that while it is a great concept to get everyone involved in all areas of the offense, there are certain players who simply aren’t cut out to do everything on every play. The key for Schonert’s future success as an offensive coordinator will be if he can discern which of his troops can and cannot do this and adjusts his approach according to their talent and limitations.’

‘Keith Ellison is Buffalo’s returning starter, but the Bills could do better than the former sixth-round pick. Ellison would make a fine backup at a position the Bills have lacked depth.’

Edwards’ connection with Elway

‘”It goes back to going to Stanford and everyone knows everyone,” said Edwards. “It seems like the guys at the top of a lot of businesses are Stanford grads and then there are a lot of Olympic athletes. There’s that Stanford connection once you get your degree from there and you’re in that crowd, you’re able to build relationships with fellow alumni.”‘
