Allen impressed with how his team came to play in preseason finale
‘”I think just in terms of energy and juice in this game compared to last game guys were ready to go, you can notice the difference. But it starts off with our defense getting a three-and-out, us on third and short, the first third down we get we convert. I think those are two of the most important plays of the game.”‘
Opinion: Capaccio: Arrow Up/Arrow Down: Bills at Bears preseason
‘For whatever reason, the QB-to-Gabe Davis connection wasn’t working so well. Out of four targets there was only one completion. The others were a drop, a pass breakup, and a horrible decision to throw that became an interception.’
Buffalo Bills hold on for 24-21 win in preseason finale over Chicago Bears
‘Chicago would add a late touchdown after Sam Martin’s punt was blocked a few plays prior. But despite the late-scare, Buffalo would hold on for the 24-21 win. Ending the preseason 2-1.’
Josh Allen leads Bills on TD drive in last preseason tune-up
‘Allen completed 5 of 7 passes for 49 yards, including a couple third-down conversions, before Damien Harris capped the 69-yard drive with a scoring plunge from the 2. Buffalo’s first-team defense also performed well, forcing a pair of three-and-outs against Justin Fields and Chicago’s starters.’
4 Observations: Bills win preseason finale in Chicago
‘When Josh Allen left the game, Kyle Allen took over. Matt Barkley is dealing with an elbow injury so it was Kyle’s offense the rest of the way. He has struggled most of the preseason but looked a little more comfortable against the Bears. Kyle Allen’s best throw of the preseason was a 29-yard touchdown strike to Quintin Morris. He hit the tight end in stride, just over a leaping Bears defender. He also moved the offense into field goal range just before the half.’
Bills GM on QB Trey Lance: ‘We definitely inquired’
‘“There’s many calls we make that don’t get out there, but a higher profile guy that San Fran had traded up all those picks for, like anything, we definitely inquired,” Beane said. “We’ve inquired about a lot, obviously he ended up going to Dallas.”’
Bills starters leave better impression in preseason win vs. Bears
‘The starters went out and delivered a much cleaner performance Saturday in Chicago in the Bills’ 24-21 win over the Bears.’
2 the point: Quick thoughts on the Bills’ preseason game in Chicago
‘Bills cornerback Ja’Marcus Ingram, who played in college at UB, intercepted a Tyson Bagent pass and returned it 36 yards during the final minute of the first half. He played in two games last year, recording two tackles.’
Carucci Take 2: Bills’ starters make amends vs. Bears, but the best outcome is they stayed healthy
‘Let’s remember the opponent was the Bears, who hardly are in any conversation to make noise in their own division, the NFC North, let alone their own conference.’
Allen, offense look sharp as Bills beat Bears in preseason finale
‘“I applaud the guys that came in here with the right mindset, they were ready to play,” said head coach Sean McDermott. “They had the right amount of energy going into the game and they sustained it pretty much throughout the game, which is good to see.”’
Buffalo Bills finish preseason on high note; hold off Chicago Bears
‘After the game, head coach Sean McDermott, who has taken on the role of defensive play caller, said John Butler took it over for the game. McDermott later clarified that he would remain the defensive play caller for the season.’
Bills 24, Bears 21 | Game recap, highlights and stats to know | Preseason
‘The game could not have started better for the Bills. After electing to kick, the Buffalo defense stifled Justin Fields and the Bears offense, forcing a quick three-and-out without allowing a single yard. Josh Allen then strung together a 12-play, 72-yard touchdown drive, converting three third downs in the process. The offense, which committed four penalties in Allen’s three drives last week, played disciplined football, drawing zero flags with Allen behind center.’
Top 3 things we learned from Bills vs. Bears | 2023 Preseason
‘”I think just in terms of energy and juice we had this game compared to last game,” Allen said of the fast start. “Guys were ready to go and you can notice a difference.”‘

5 things the Buffalo Bills will want to accomplish in their final preseason game
‘Look … better. How’s that for being overly simplistic? Let’s get this out of the way: The preseason means absolutely nothing. Still, it was a bit unsettling to see the team’s starters struggle as much as they did in all three phases last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That is especially true of the offensive line. If star quarterback Josh Allen doesn’t get adequate protection, that’s big trouble. Starting tackles Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown were unable to contain speed rushes against Pittsburgh. That’s not something that can be explained away by saying “It’s only an exhibition game.” The same goes for the defense, which got torched for a long touchdown run and gave up a one-play scoring drive, as well.’
