Bledsoe, Brunell meet up in key AFC battle

‘The Bills didn’t get a lot of opportunities in the return game for Antonio Brown to show what he could do. The WR/KR returned two kicks for touchdowns in the preseason. He should get a chance to shine this week. Jacksonville was awful on special teams against the Panthers. They had a punt blocked for a safety, the potential winning FG was blocked, and they allowed a 36-yard punt return to set up Carolina’s winning score.’

Brunell, Bledsoe linked

‘Brunell and Bledsoe, two veteran quarterbacks linked by their college football roots and, possibly, by their late-career fates, will face each other this Sunday for the fourth time since they were college rivals at Washington and Washington State.’

Bills set for their future

‘"The ability to get Drew Bledsoe speeded everything up for us," Donahoe admits. "We’re very young and we’d like to think our team will grow and get better. Our scouts have done a good job of getting the roster turned over. We’ve had three good drafts in a row. You need free agency and you have to sprinkle guys in, but the draft is still the life blood of your team. The young guys fit better under the salary cap."’

Quarterback Drew Bledsoe Previews Jacksonville

‘"They have a tremendous defensive front and it’s going to be a tremendous challenge and entirely different challenge that we had going into the Patriots game. These guys don’t really try to fool you, they just line up and say here we are see if you can handle us, they are a load."’

Bills' rising stock will bring night games into play

‘Bills President and General Manager Tom Donahoe reports the Bills are willing to host a Monday night game. I was surprised they didn’t get one this year, after their improvement last season.’

Buffalo News | Sep 11, 2003

Donahoe the biggest acquisition

‘” He has taken a shell of a football team and in a relatively short period of time turned it into a contender,” Wilson said. ” He is as hard a worker as I’ve ever seen and he is as good a judge of talent as we’ve ever had. Every move in this business is a gamble and he’s pretty much hit on all of them. He’s done a remarkable job.”‘

Another Bill faces old foe

‘” Definitely, I want to go down there and get a victory,” Shaw said. ” You never want to go play against your old team and not come out on top. It will be a big thing where I’m hoping we can get down there and produce a big win.”‘
