Frank Coyle: Bills hope D-linemen fall in draft
The Bills do not have a first-round pick in April, but they hope to draft a top defensive performer in the second and third rounds. Buffalo, of course, will debate the possibilities. Drafting an offensive playmaker is not entirely out of the question. Still, defensive linemen are Buffalo’s biggest need and that is a fairly strong group with the addition of underclassmen.
Off the scrap heap: LeBeau would make an excellent addition to Bills' defensive staff
Andy Hanacek gives his opinion as to why Tom Modrak and (hopefully) the hiring of Dick LeBeau are shrewd moves by Tom Donahoe
Notes: Free agency different in restricted territory
It’s looking more and more like Price will be hit with a franchise tag, which will almost certainly keep him Buffalo. The Bills don’t think second-year receiver Josh Reed is ready for a No. 2 role behind Eric Moulds, so Price will be tagged.
Bush should hire Donahoe to create U.S. jobs
I hear the Bills might create a job for ex-Bengals head coach Dick LeBeau, who was the Steelers’ defensive coordinator for a couple of seasons when Buffalo president and general manager Tom Donahoe worked there.

Alumni Update: Booker Edgerson
Edgerson made history when the regular season got underway. He became the first Bills player to record an interception in the opening game of his rookie season. In fact, he picked-off Houston quarterback George Blanda twice during that game. Edgerson finished the campaign with a career-high six interceptions and was one of four Bills named to the AFL’s all-rookie team.
Bills hope Ruel has golden touch with line
‘"I think too often times your guys don’t pay enough attention to details and consequently they rely on athletic ability. . . . What I’m going to do is work to improve their footwork and technique and fundamentals so they can block better."’
Thomas runs with idea of helping others
‘"Oh, man. It’s almost now like I’m the president of AA. Everywhere I go at least four or five people come up to me and thank me. It’s been amazing to me I’ve been able to touch as many lives as I’ve touched with me coming out and saying I’m a recovering alcoholic."’
Williams believes LeBeau is good fit
‘”He’d bring 40-plus years of experience and a lot of things he brings defensively, he innovated in this league,” Williams said. “I think he would bring a breath of fresh air … and (be) another ear for me, to help me a lot as far as some of the administrative duties a coach does.”‘
Ruel leaps at chance to coach Bills offensive line
”’I was on a ski slope one time, going down the mountain, thinking I was one of the top skiers in the world until I hit the tree,” he said. ”I’m just telling you right now, they can all get better. I’m going to help them achieve a higher standard, raise the bar a little higher and it’ll hopefully pay off.”’

LeBeau to decide whether to take Bills coaching offer
‘“We want him, and hopefully he wants us,” Bills coach Gregg Williams said Wednesday, a day after LeBeau visited with the team at its suburban-Buffalo headquarters.’
Bills Wait To Hear Back From Dick LeBeau
Hopefully, yesterday we presented the right situation, that he would want to come here, because he would be a valuable addition to our staff. I really look forward to working with him, if it works out. We should know something in the next couple days."
Bills Introduce Running Backs Coach Les Steckel
On return to coaching:
"They say coaching is something in your blood. You just enjoy the working relationship you have with players and coaches and certainly the adrenaline flow on Sundays. But this was an opportunity that I really looked forward to. I have tremendous respect for Gregg, as a coach working with him in Houston and Tennessee.
Transcript of interview with Don Blackmon
"When I talked to Coach Williams it was a good meeting. And I was excited about the opportunity to come here and join this franchise, they've done a good job. You look at the way they've gone 3-and-whatever-it-was to 8-8 and they're on the move, making the right moves. As far as just being here, just having the opportunity to work with good people, it's important."
