Bills' Morris strives to excel as role player

‘"Being a third-down back is similar to special teams as far as the stats may not be completely visible," Morris said. "But if it’s third and 6 and I’m able to get a draw or catch a pass or make a block to give Drew (Bledsoe) a couple of seconds to complete a pass to get the first, that’s something that helps our team."’

Bills can't coach Brown's best asset ó raw speed

‘With 12 receivers on the roster and five of them vying for the open kick and punt return jobs, Brown’s TD was the equivalent of an eager student raising his hand in class and yelling: ” Pick me! Pick me!”‘

Benched, but not forgotten

‘The addition of Adams will certainly mean less playing time for Edwards and Bannan. Rather than thinking about that, however, they are focusing on what his presence will mean for the defense as a whole. ” I’m extremely excited. I think the sky’s the limit with us,” Bannan said. ” As long as we keep coming out every day and progressing, there’s no telling how good we can get. It’s really a joy to be with a great group of guys like that.”‘

Have the Bills Improved Enough to Beat the Patriots on Opening Day?

While the Bills obviously helped themselves defensively during the off-season, New England did, too. The Patriots couldn’t stop the run last year nor hold important leads in the fourth quarter, but look far more efficient in its new three-man front.

Gregg Williams Postgame Comments

‘"It was nice to see Brown take the punt and make a big play. On our special teams, we’ve been lacking in that for awhile, especially after he didn’t fair-catch the one before that. I wasn’t very happy when he gave up the ground…and he redeemed himself. He did a very good job. He’s an aggressive kid. That was fun to see. His speed is very exciting. The fact that he almost popped a pretty good one on a kickoff return. He saw the crack, and he’s so fast he stumbled. That’s good to see.”’
