Despite a reduced role in his return to Bills, Cole Beasley is open to coming back to Buffalo

‘“I thought the last couple of weeks, in those two postseason games you really started seeing the Cole who was here before,” Bills General Manager Brandon Beane said. “This offense is similar, but it’s not exactly the same, so there was a little bit of nuance there from that standpoint of the route combinations versus exactly what he left from when (former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll) was here.”’

Anything but normal

‘”Good teams are able to bounce back from a lot of things, but this was harder than previous years,” Hyde said during a telephone interview prior to coming to Fostoria to participate in a program on Thursday at Fostoria Junior/Senior High School. “Just with injuries to key players on this team, the weather situation that we had at Thanksgiving when we had to get out of here the week before Thanksgiving and go play Cleveland in Detroit and then we went back to Detroit the next week for that week’s game, then on top of that, the schedule this year was insane. It was Monday night games, it was Sunday night games, it was Thursday night games, it was Sunday day games, there was a Saturday night game. I think the very last game of the season, going into the first round of the playoffs, was the first time we had two back-to-back Sunday 1 o’clock games. We couldn’t really get into a constant routine.”‘

10 ways the Bills can save salary cap space to add pieces and finally win a Super Bowl

‘Hines, a running back who is on the final year of a contract signed with the Colts, has a $4.77 million cap hit next year while carrying no dead cap space if the Bills cut him. They could get out of his contract with no penalty. Knowing this, it seems likely the Bills could get Hines to agree to come back at a lower number. Settle, a defensive tackle, carries a $4.93 million cap hit next season after playing about 35% of defensive snaps. The Bills could save $2.23 million in cap space by releasing him, or $3.58 million if they designate him as a post-June 1 cut and spread the penalty over two seasons.’

Carucci Take 2 Bills mailbag: Postseason left little doubt Bills have regressed

‘Last year’s playoff appearance felt much more like a circumstantial derailment, caused largely by poor coaching decisions, on the way to a Lombardi Trophy rather than a journey that had no hope of completion. The performance against the Bengals, after a shaky wild-card showing against Miami’s third-string quarterback, made it abundantly clear the Bills had no business being viewed as a serious contender.’

Bills hire Joe Danna as new safeties coach

Jordan Poyer's clutch long drive helps AFC to early lead in NFL's Pro Bowl Skills Showdown

‘While Saffold and Dawkins were eliminated quickly, it was an otherwise good night for those who represented the Bills. The highlight came during the longest drive competition held at Bear’s Best Golf Course. Bills safety Jordan Poyer was one of 10 participants – five from the AFC and five from the NFC. Each player got three attempts at a long drive, with the winner earning three overall points for his conference.’

Georgia safety Chris Smith brings football IQ at position of need for Bills

‘He’s not real big. He’s 5-foot-10, 188 pounds. That’s the knock on his draft status. But he has most everything else you want in a versatile NFL safety. He plays bigger than his size. He’s a good tackler. He was a Swiss Army knife as a starter for the back-to-back national champions the past two years. He’s a leader.’

Big Tree residents wonder about mess, other impacts of stadium construction

‘“As much as we say these projects are going to be nice and clean and neat, they never are,” he said. “I don’t want to be dealing with that, and I don’t think any other resident would.”’

Buffalo Bills Stadium Deal Faces Public Vetting as Final Approval Nears

‘Locals from Erie County could hold up the project if there are substantive negative comments. If the hearing goes smoothly, the deal will be sent to the Erie County legislature and executive for signoff before construction can commence, according to Laura Magee, a spokesperson for Empire State Development. The NFL has already approved the deal.’

‘Since there was “substantive negative comment” at Thursday’s meeting, the Erie County Stadium Corporation will hold another public hearing on the stadium plan at the end of February, Stephen Gawlik, senior counsel for the corporation who ran the session, said in an interview during a hearing recess.’

Bills name Joe Danna as new safeties coach
