Two Bills Drive

‘“He’s using his platforms to speak out about his own struggles and because he’s an important member in our community, he’s a Buffalo Bill, he really is a role model for a lot of folks,” said MHA’s executive director, Melinda DuBois. “Especially for our youth, he’s really a role model, so him publicly stating that he struggles with his own mental health is huge for our community. What we’re really encouraging people to do is be able to talk about their own personal struggles. The more we talk about it, the less stigmatized it is. So we’re really honoring Jordan for his willingness to speak out.”’

‘The $1.54 billion includes $250 million in county money, half of which will be paid in cash. That cash availability will allow the county to delay borrowing for the major construction until sometime in 2024, according to the county budget office. Another $600 million in public money will be paid by the state, with the balance footed by the team.’

‘Namely, what could the county do to limit its exposure to unanticipated costs and lawsuits stemming from construction issues? And what could the county do to ensure that its $250 million taxpayer contribution toward the new Bills stadium resulted in money flowing back to the community and that the team remains in Buffalo? All this, while the county prepares to get out of the football business.’

‘In a phone interview with The Buffalo News, Bills executive vice president/COO Ron Raccuia detailed four changes to lots on the west side of Abbott Road that run parallel to Highmark Stadium: The camper/RV lot will be closed; the bus and limo lot will be relocated across the street near the intersection of Abbott and Southwestern Boulevard; the capacity of Lot 4 will be reduced; and the capacity for Lot 3 will be increased.’

‘2027: Full build-out of the stadium to be completed. Old stadium to be demolished.’

‘The skeptics will say Dorsey foundered or even tanked last year as coordinator and play-caller. The Bills were predictable, unimaginative, unwilling and unable to maintain drives, could not exploit the middle of the field or score points in bunches when they needed to like in previous seasons.’
