Coupled with the fact that he has serious triuble staying healthy come the playoffs….i think it’s an overpay. you can’t just disregard his injuries. IIRC, he’s been out with injuries for the Bills last THREE season ending losses I'm reassured by the improved play of Dorian Williams, the promise of KEO and the imminent return of Shaq Thompson. As I've posted elsewhere I think this position group can improve over the course of the season without any actual roster moves. That said, I'd love for the Bills to draft another ILB next year. I'm a bit sad to have missed out on Jacob Rodriguez... I think it was probably the positional value that made us take TJ Parker... hope that works out. 1 2 Quote

But the amount of money we're saving on the likes of Cook, Rousseau, and Brown is staggering. I haven't been a fan of his free agent classes but he is better than any GM out there at keeping his own happy and paying them before the market inflates. Quit talking this crazy stuff!!! I read around here how bad Bean is and should have been fired.... Quote

I’m with you Donuts. What is $1.5 mil. Per for a guy who does a nice job at ST, and great depth with Rudy type of heart on backup LB. Why not? 5 Quote

And I like Oliver. I think he is a better player than some fans give him credit for. But he is also chronically injured and can disappear at times. 3 Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Good for him!! He went from a tryout, not even a UDFA contract (if I recall), to a guy that gets a jersey every week. He’s a pretty good special teamer and has parlayed that into a few years of contracts plus $3M guaranteed. Congrats to Buffalo Joe 1 2 Quote

I don't know how many can catch this on TV, but here's an illustration of this guy's value. They kick to his side nearly every time on KO. And he is destroying people on kick coverage. He's effectively at 3 years $6m. Going rate for an elite STer. 1 Quote

IIRC, he’s been out with injuries for the Bills last THREE season ending losses If you look at last year, this year, and next year - We have him on a 3yr/$18M deal. That's it. Then we can move on and save $6M if need be. Quote
stevewin Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) As an aside - I (Lancaster alum) just found out yesterday that Depew cancelled any future Lancaster-Depew games after this year bc of 'enrollment and roster size disparities' My senior year Depew beat us 20-0 led by QB Don 'Majik' Majkowski Edited October 3 by stevewin 1 Quote
folz Posted October 3 Posted October 3 2 hours ago, HappyDays said: We're stuck with him at an $11.1M cap hit next year which is an overpay but eh I can live with it. Compared to what he's saved by extending other players early it's a drop in the bucket. Currently (on a per year average), Bernard is the 24th highest-paid linebacker in the league. And he has two more years on his contract (after this season). 33 of the next 34 LBers (who currently have a lower per year salary than TB) will be paid again before TB is (their contracts are up 1-3 years before his). So, over the next two years (some, obviously not all) of those LBers will probably get paid more than Terrell just based on increasing market value. In 1-2 years (on an overall average yearly salary for his contract), he may be down in the 30s as far as highest-paid LBers. So, maybe in the long run, it won't feel like such an overpay. 🤷♂️ Also, I'd like to see how the rest of the season plays out with TB in Leonard's system. He had a couple of years where he was a playmaker (always around the ball). Hoping that Leonard's system brings that player back. So far in three games, he has 1 PD, 1 FR, 1 QB knockdown, 1 QB pressure, and 2 TFLs. We'll see. And very happy for Buffalo Joe. Always good to have a Rudy-type guy (hometown kid) in the locker room. Helps others not take things for granted. And he obviously has NFL-level skills if only as a backup and an excellent special-teamer. But who knows? Everyone can continue to grow and get better as well. 1 Quote
