More often than not he was correct. CBS inexplicably told him to stop doing that, and he became instantly forgettable. They destroyed by far their best analyst. He was great when doing that. Only games I would watch with the sound on. Way back when Bill Walsh and Parcells were doing games. Learned a lot from them. Now all broadcasts are just talking. Hockey is the worst. 1 Quote
jethro_tull Posted Saturday at 12:55 PM Posted Saturday at 12:55 PM Not the end of the world for us or him. I'm sure ESPN, Netflix or Prime will take him ..... Personally he tried to constantly show off his football knowledge by second guessing and predicting play calls. He also loved to point out after the play all the wide open receivers that were missed. On second thought good bye. Quote
boater Posted Saturday at 01:05 PM Posted Saturday at 01:05 PM Quote That Romo ultimately lost his CBS role would seem to be at least in part due to the downturn in perception of his performance. That about sums it up. I liked Romo a couple of years ago. His pre-snap reads over the air and post-mortem of plays were always spot on. Then he declined and I have a pretty good guess why. Heavy boozing affects you even after you sober up, you suffer from brain fog. Quote

People make fun of Solomon Wilcots because his unique pronunciations aren't polished and professional but the dude absolutely recognizes what he's seeing on a ball field and will tell you about it straight up. I like him and wish he was on a major network broadcast every week. The fact that Troy Aikman and Creeper Collinsworth are instead is freaking gross. 2 2 Quote

His wife is pretty hot isn't she? I thought they did a commercial together years ago Quote
HardyBoy Posted Saturday at 01:55 PM Posted Saturday at 01:55 PM I'm not actually making a joke, but this situation gives me brockmire vibes... Very sad situation and I hope he gets the help he needs...sounds like this is a lot more complicated than it seems on the surface 1 Quote

Mr. WEO Posted Saturday at 08:04 PM Posted Saturday at 08:04 PM CBS dropS Romo while the NFL welcomes back far worse. CBS is the worst. Soft defined. 1 Quote

Doesn’t mean he wont get another chance but he killed this deal. there are consequences to actions and this proves it. Hopefully he gets assistance if it’s needed and almost anyone of us would get canned for the same reason at our gigs most likely. he was better than Collinsworth but that’s a low bar 1 Quote

Partly for his own sake and partly because he could be an asset in the booth if he's not two sheets to wind. He also entioned that it is not the drinking but it is the pain medication that he has to take post Football. Quote

thronethinker Posted Sunday at 12:25 PM Posted Sunday at 12:25 PM I don’t get how Collinsworth is universally disliked, yet is still on the air every week. 32 minutes ago, Whites Bay said: He'd be a wonderful replacement for Terry Bradshaw. NFL pregame shows are the biggest pile of trash in programming. it is the perfect example of having background noise just because there needs to be something on before the game. Quote

DuckyBoys Posted Sunday at 01:25 PM Posted Sunday at 01:25 PM meanwhile "I like em young and dumb" Collinsworth still on the air Quote

Gotcha, I appreciate the response, I guess that solves that mystery. 1 Quote
