Brian Thomas Jr. appears to be moving towards WR4 in Jax and seems logical he could be traded. See excerpt from SI fantasy writers below. Would love to take a mid-late round flyer on him if Jax was willing to trade to a contender. Too much talent there. Gotta wonder what he could do on the outside with Moore in our offense with JA17 throwing him the ball. Make it happen Beane!!

Coen: BTJ off field more because of 12-personnel

Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Brian Thomas Jr. played only 23 snaps in Week 3 because the Jaguars “were playing in a little bit more 12 and also some of the things that we had Josh [Cameron] on specifically were things that we felt good about him doing within a role that he has.”

Advice: Sports Illustrated’s John Shipley believes that Cameron’s usage (23 snaps) could make it “stand[s] to reason Thomas could quickly become the fourth option instead” in a column that says he believes a “new start would be best for both parties.” It sounds like there’s a non-zero chance that Thomas is on the trade block at the deadline, as weird as that seems given how good the Jaguars have been on offense. Thomas isn’t necessarily someone who has to be rostered in shallow leagues given how things are trending.

BTJ or MHJ would be low risk, high reward swings for the Bills. They still have a need on the boundary. That’s certainly true long-term. Maybe Skyler Bell ends up being that guy. Palmer will be gone after this year. Keon may have 1 more year. Neither is starting caliber. If you could get one of those 2 inexpensively, it’s a good gamble. Worst case scenario is where you are minus the pick.

If we didn’t have Moore, sure. All for it. But Moore/Kincaid/Shakir/Coleman is quality enough for Josh Allen.

Allocate any further draft picks into acquiring a guy in the draft.

Heck, it’s totally impossible but if we are trading draft picks just go ahead and trade the future for Jeremiah Smith and allow Josh to have him for the remainder of his career.

That’s a fair and good assessment, I just don’t see BTJ being moved cheaply. Same with MHJ. Cardinals are committed to keeping him around from what the guys with an inside source are saying.

Buffalo’s second rounders are probably going to be lower than what they move those guys for so unless they are totally removed from those players I would venture to say it would be a first rounder.

Would you trade an additional first round pick, maybe a player like Ed Oliver and a 3rd for Jeremiah Smith?

He's not getting snaps because they are running more 12 personnel....we run a ton of 13 personnel! He'd never see the field, this wouldn't be interesting unless Moore or Shakir are injured.

Not a fan

Every wide receiver who flashed a little bit of talent doesn't mean they will just become superstars with Josh Allen..

Josh Gordon put up 1700 yd with ghosts at quarterback.. because he put in the work that year

Btj has obviously not been putting in the work for well over a year.. if you're not getting targets or stats it's because you're not working hard enough compared to the people around you

I’m thinking it would be a 3rd for MHJ and a 4th for BTJ (at least that’s what I have in mind). That seems to be the rough cost based on what I’ve read. I don’t think that’s enough for either.

In terms of Jeremiah Smith, I’d trade 3 firsts without blinking. He’s the most talented player I’ve ever watched at the college level. You’d have him for 5 years on a rookie deal alongside Josh. He would be Ja’Marr Chase to Joe Burrow. I don’t see any way that the Bills could get high enough.

If a likely-playoff bound team is trading a depth WR on a rookie deal mid-season there's something seriously wrong with the player.  If he's losing snaps to Josh Cameron, its likely because Cameron as the active STer blocks better (basically how we used hollins).  Camerons been on the field for 52 offensive snaps, and ran a route on 19.  If they trade BTJ, whats the plan if washington or meyers gets hurt?  And if it's PS free agents, then how freaking bad is this guy?

Fact is - he was the featured piece of an offense that ranked 23rd in scoring and 25th in yards.  They were a bad team, and almost 1000 of his yards his rookie season were accrued while trailing.  The offense improved YoY by throwing it to him less frequently.  I'm not doing much more research than that, but i think the flash in the pan may have been inflated by usage vs. ability.

Coleman has stepped up.  Kincaid has stepped up.  Moore has been very good and we still have Shakir who isn’t getting enough balls.

Palmer can’t even get many opportunities and Bell hasn’t even seen the field. Why do we need Thomas?

No thanks , use 1 of the 8 draft picks we have next year to continue adding or to replace Josh Palmer.

Now there is always a caveat to that. If your telling me I can get him for a 5 or a 6 then okay but i doubt the Jags will give him up for that price

I've got a theory.

Lots of modern offenses seem to use their X receivers as decoys, mostly to draw coverage away from the middle of the field.

I think that is one of the main reasons 1st Round guys like Brian Thomas Jr., Jameson Williams, Rome Odunze, Quentin Johnson and Marvin Harrison Jr. are considered so disappointing around the league.  They don't really have much weekly production that warrants the investment.  Meanwhile later picks like Parker Washington, Amon Ra St. Brown, Kalif Raymond, Ladd McConkey and Tre McBride are racking up all the targets and catches for their teams.

Watch the separation created by every player not named Kincaid or Moore. If there is a game breaker out there with solid separation skills, he should be investigated. Keon and Palmer have done well for the skills that they have. But neither creates consistent separation.

If we trade it needs to be for secondary help at this point.  Offense just scored 24 points despite turning the ball over 5 times.  Thats 5 drives gone and we still scored 24 and won.

And the INT's were all on Josh too, he had open guys and he put the ball in harms way both times.  One he blatantly made a rookie read and didn't see the safety and the other his worst style of throw which is a deep arc where he is not accurate and always makes bad decisions, he threw into triple coverage while he had others open for easy gains.

Allen tends to try and get it all back on one play when the wheels fall off, and that is exactly what he did on the INT to DJ Moore.

And we still scored 24.  Offense is no where near our problem.  I am not against BTJ or MHJ, but needs wise, we need help at corner where are suddenly very thin.  By the way - everyone clamoring for BTJ or MHJ are still doing so off draft hype becasue if you watch the tape on them, its not good.  Yes a change of scenery could help, but tape doesn't lie, there is a reason less hearalded and journeyman are out snapping and out playing them on their respective teams.

Jeremiah Smith would be way more expensive than that, I’m afraid. But yes, giving Josh a generational guy for act two of his career would be amazing. Would do your proposed deal in a millisecond.
