No reason to get giddy about our 3and 0 because two of our wins were against 0 and 3 teams that are reeling. The Lions are a good team but they must score 30+ to win. The best sign for Buffalo is the defense is looking better and was able to pick up our struggling offense after all those TOs. The measuring stick comes with our next two opponents. The Pats are a wounded animal fighting for its life. They will be desperate to show the league they’re not a fraud. The Rams are tough at home and they’re in danger of falling 3 behind the Niners with a loss. McVay will have them ready and motivated for a must win game. I’m anxious to see our secondary respond to losing #47.  He’s been bad but he’s a veteran presence for our young DBs. Josh is also a cause for concern with that knee. He’s a stoic so he never will complain or admit to having limitations but he must go into  a mode of less bravado. Hopefully Brady can protect him from himself with play calling.

A question for you all. At what point in a season do you believe a team is what their W/L record says it is?

Personally, going into/after week 6. There are often some anomalies but few and far between.

We are part of the reason that those teams are 0-3.

The Bengals and Colts allowed the Texans an average of 12 points of offense in 2 games. They scored 31 against us. They’re strength is supposed to be defense and they’re giving up average 26.. A bad team was a dropped interception away from beating us. Harbaugh admitted the Chargers are a mess right now. The statistics show it takes a flailing, clueless team to lose a +4 Turnover battle. They also lost to the Cards and another game they were favored in at home. You want to hang your hat on beating those crappy teams go right ahead. It doesn’t mean we’re not a good team but the Lions were our one good win. I think we’re going to play better as we play better competition.

Alternative viewpoint: It took a bad team 5 turnovers from the Bills in order to "only" lose by more than a touchdown.

I won’t get into a back and forth trying to convince you the Bills can turn the ball over 5 times and have 10 accepted penalties for 90 yds and expect to win against a real team. You want to delude yourself that beating failing organizations (Texans,Chargers)  translates to playing our best football only means you’re losing objectivity. You’ll know when we’re playing championship football.

Watch out for the Dolphins

For 0-17.

For years the members of the Dolphins undefeated 1972 team would uncork champagne after the last undefeated team of the current season lost their first game.

That group included Mercury Morris, Larry Csonka, Dick Anderson, Nick Buoniconti. and Garo Yepremian.

Only Csonka and Anderson are still alive.

I wonder what they'll do to commemorate a perfect 0-17 season?

Is it possible this offense could look like the Dorsey version at times? It had that look for large parts of the game Sunday. We can run it now, which prevents a regression to what we saw then, but I need to see more to really feel good about it. It will be fine no matter what, but at this point it needs to be much more than fine.

Agreed.

IMO the progression of the offense has been solely because of the addition of DJ Moore and the good health of Dalton Kincaid.

I have not been impressed with Brady's playcalling and I'm concerned that Brady's tendencies play into Josh's worst tendencies in terms of being overly-aggressive/impatient in the passing game and also putting Josh needlessly in harms way.

It's also disturbing to me that 3 games after being eliminated from the playoffs by committing 5 turnovers that the Bills again committed 5 turnovers. Ball security (especially the fumbles) needs to be emphasized more than it's been.

I hope the offense improves.

People tend to overreact to 3-0 starts, in a way that they don't when the three consecutive wins happen in like Weeks 8, 9 and 10.  We're just 17% of the way through the season and nobody will really remember this when the Raiders are sitting at 9-8.

I think 3-0 in this era of both 17 games (thus 3-0 is a slightly lower percentage of the season) and less pre-season, training camp and off-season activities is not even as impressive as it used to be either. I think you really need to get 4-5 games in now to get a real "temperature check" on a season. Weeks 1-2 are so much more "shaking off the rust" than they were in the past. It kind of takes 3-4 games for these teams to get into gear so to speak.

Even when there were more training camp and off-season/pre-season activities and a 16 games schedule 3-0 while impressive could still be a mirage. Now, I think 3-0 is even less accurate, I kind of just think when you get to 4 games in if you can just be 2-2 at a minimum and not have major injuries you are in a decent spot.

Think you're ignoring that Houston had Collins against us - Pretty big deal.  That was a reasonably impressive win for the Bills on the road to open the season.  Part of the reasons these teams have bad records is because we beat them.

The Texans and Chargers are both 0-3 but let's not act like either of them is the Dolphins or Titans. Both teams were playoff teams last year. Both have a ton of talent. The Chargers have a new offensive system that they are still trying to work through. The Texans have been without Nico Collins the last 2 games. They can both easily and I think will turn it around. Especially the Texans. All the Bills wins were impressive. Yes, they didn't play well against the Chargers but the fact they won while committing 5 turnovers is impressive itself
