Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted October 3 Posted October 3 2 hours ago, Sierra Foothills said: Agreed. The explanation (I'm not saying how valid it is) was that the Bills couldn't make sufficient corrections between weeks 1 and 2 due to the 4 day gap but that they would have the chance to make corrections during the 10 day gap between weeks 2 and 3. I think it's fair to say that the defense did improve vs the Chargers and I think it's fair to say that the defense will improve over time. At some point the players will be comfortable in the new defense... we just don't know in what week that'll happen. Recall reading an article going into Lion s game, was talking about the offense, but said no time to change anything there, likely the same on the defensive side. 29 minutes ago, Mailman said: Both Couch and Kani Walker elevated So likely no Bernard unless it's just as a precaution? 1 Quote

iwishitwerecolder Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Kinda off topic, but doesn’t it kinda feel like in big games like this having a guy like CJ Gardner Johnson on your sideline is such a blessing? I feel like he’s one of the few guys in the league you want on your team for the big games. Hes gonna run his mouth and make plays 3 1 Quote

Yet we need more plays like that on defense. Edited October 3 by The Jokeman 2 Quote

I seriously doubt he would be on our team if McD was still here. We need a little of that brand of moxy. 1 Quote

Their D is 16th in rushing yards allowed, 13th in YPC allowed and tied for 10th in rushing TDs allowed. Did you just make up stuff so you could have this negative post? Whoops, my bad. I was reading the wrong site. I didn't mean to intentionally disparage the Bills' defense, as they have been getting better each game, and that run defense against the Lions was outstanding, as they held RB Jahmyr Gibbs to 16 carries for 52 yards at a 3.3 YPC avg, which was amazing considering the week previous he had 29 carries for 156 yards against the Saints, which gave him a 5.4 YPC avg. Gibbs is a beast! I should have been looking at this, which I normally do. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf/2026.htm 1 Quote

You went from crapping all over the Bills D to extolling their virtues against Gibbs. You believed whatever numbers you were looking at because it confirmed your narrative. All off season everyone was preaching that it would take time for the defense to gel, and after only 3 games some are expecting end of season form from them. I’m not a film bro or stat guru. I’m an armchair GM that’s watched 45 years of football. My eyes tell me that compared to last year the pass rush is better, the run D is definitely better, and the secondary started off shaky first 2 games and showed improvement against the Chargers. You don’t win a game where you have 5 turnovers if your defense doesn’t step up and the Bills did. I expect continual gradual improvement over the course of the season from the defense. I think we will know after 10 games what we should expect. 1 2 1 Quote

A good to great pass rush can cover a lot of secondary shortcomings. Quote

I think we will know after 10 games what we should expect. The stats I stated for being 25th in yards allowed for the Buffalo defense were accurate! The points allowed so far are 21st in the NFL. As I stated, I didn't have any agenda or narrative to disparage the Bills' defense...I simply read the wrong rushing stats and then fessed up to that fact. The stats for the Bills' defense in rushing yards allowed are currently: 16th in rush yards allowed, 10th in TDs allowed. If you got my point in that post, it was that I was concerned that the Patriots are going to attempt to run the ball rather than leaning on their failing QB. I'm just a Bills fan that gets nervous for every game, and especially for the games that they should easily win. You know, like the Chargers game. Also, if you read my follow-up post, I stated that I was hoping the Patriots would get crushed by the Jags and get crushed again by the Bills this week. 2 Quote

To give up a game to a Patriots team that is floundering, and has their best players out, and their QB looks like a Mac Jones wannabe… and to allow them to gain a “get right” game from the Bills. I came away thinking “they’re absolutely right”. 1 2 Quote
