On those video lowlights, he looks like Tremaine Edmunds on offense..

Only thing missing was holding up the fist when it was 4th down.

Hard pass! No thanks.

He just seems very slow to me. I remember watching the pre-draft stuff when he came out, and Chris Simms swore up and down that Malik Nabors and BTJ were far better talents than him. He was right.

I’m not sure if I said it on here or not but talking with my friends(a couple are scouts), I told any of them who would listen that Nabors was going to be much better. They all laughed and said that’s why I’m not a scout.

I know I'm the WR guy on here but I am good with the offense as is. Coleman/Palmer is perfectly fine as the joint 4th target getter in this offense. Is Harrison a better WR than Palmer? Probably. Is he going to change our team enough to warrant the draft capital to get him? I don't think so. I just struggle to see the offense being any better than it has been through 2 games. If Moore gets seriously injured that changes the conversation but right now I'm good.

If anything I think we should look to upgrade our safety #3. It seems minor but Hamlin has gotten enough run as the dime safety that we could use an upgrade there. Usually I'm all about swinging for a big trade but I can't find a spot on the roster that necessitates one. Maybe a pass rushing EDGE? We're talking about situational players, not full time starters.

Do you want a player who does that? Regardless of situation, a player being paid a ton of money is obligated to TRY at the most basic of levels, regardless of the qb situation. If he can’t even muster the requisite enthusiasm to do even that, why would you ever want a player like him?

There are tons of examples of WRs who basically struggled or quit in their teams when they were done with them and went on to other teams and had success . There are also examples of a guy doing what you say here. It’s taking a chance but hey if your telling me I can give up a 3rd or 4th to take a chance in a possible pro bowl caliber WR then sure.

The Bills have a stronger culture with a top of the line , maybe the best QB . If you can’t have success with Allen then You’re probably not going to have success elsewhere.

Agree 100% about safety right now.

It’s not dissimilar to anyone else who hates their job. A small percentage of people will continue to put in max effort. Most people will slack. But some of the slackers really perk up in a better environment. If he’s like that, then yes, I may want a player like him. He did very well against great competition (including Georgia) and under tons of pressure at Ohio State.

I wouldn’t trade for you. No offense.

Enh. He was chosen high, kinda sucked early for AZ DESPITE being paid a ton of money, and is now quiet quitting. Look: he’s basically an NFL nepo baby, with the added benefit of a father who is likely a crazy violent criminal (all of which was fully brushed aside in the effort to build up his persona as a great guy at OSU): https://www.gq.com/story/marvin-harrison (along with many other stories about this). His father’s history was TOTALLY whitewashed in the manicured presentation pre-draft, so I guess it comes down to whether one thinks the apple falls far from the tree or not. As for me, no thanks.

Comparing the route running on the bad and good videos it's apparent that marvin Jr is not the same as he was.

Is he another Sammie Watkins; that is to say is he now a head case or have injuries taken their toll or both?

Chicken or Egg. Is LaFleur down on him because of his play or that fact that he's not getting the ball in this scheme the cause of his poor play?

Seems unlikely that a coach would waste a former # 1 pick unless there was a good reason.

Thoughts?

Agree 100% about safety right now.

A player I have my eye on is Tony Jefferson. Chargers were going to release him but ended up keeping him at the last minute. If their season continues going downhill which is very possible I'd flip a 7th rounder to bring him here. Veteran presence and a leader who gives us really good depth. Kilgore seemingly isn't ready and Hamlin is a traffic cone out there.

  • Big Blitz changed the title to Marvin Harrison Jr - what is going on in Arizona?

I watched a video on YT that showed the majority of his routes this year.  It seems like he was running 3/4 speed.  No suddenness or burst on any of them. He was smart not to run the 40.  He might’ve been slower than Keon based on the routes he’s run this season.

He's not slow. His in-game speed has been measured at an elite level.

He's just being a total dog right now.

Harrison sure looks like he’s dogging it out there. He’s a guy I would be interested in acquiring cheap, but (barring injury) not until the offseason. And I wouldn’t pay anything near sticker price. I’ve seen posters this season suggest Keon and a 2 for MHJ. Either one of those is too high. The slim chance that he turns it around is worth about a 3 in 2028 or a 4 in 2027. He stinks and we all can see it.

Randy Moss stunk in Oakland, that much is true. But prior to that, he was sublime for years in Minnesota. With MHJ, college is all we have to prop him up, and that doesn’t carry much weight with me.

His rookie season stats say this should not be happening and he needs a change of scenery.

I have no idea what has gone wrong - the Coach’s comments are totally bizarre to me - but his rookie year stats say this shouldn’t happening.

112 targets.  62 catches.  885 yards.   8 TDs

I just saw a stat that Brissett averaged 3.4 yards per attempt this week - might have been on the season I’m going to look again.

They just have zero connection.

Adonai Mitchell was having the same said about him in Indy.  Change of scenery to the JETS and it’s been great for him so far - started to see good flashes last year from him toward end of season.

In college I thought nabers was better.  Nabers is a Quick twitch athlete and MHJr isn’t.Honestly Carnell Tate was very similar in that way.

this could be an adversity thing, similar to what Doug Whaley recently said about Watkins.  It could also be more personal, if he is home sick or lonely or something, that could affect him.  People forget these players are people too, and they don’t get a say in where they play.  I personally would hate living in NYC for example.  It would affect my job performance I’m sure.  His play/mood/effort could have nothing to do with football at all.

I personally would give him or BTJr a fresh start in Buffalo for the right price.  Even DJ Moore is getting a fresh start here, and look how quickly he went down.  He or Keon or Shakir could easily  miss more time

we roster a Kick Returner for Pete’s sake. Let Keon and Davis and Shakir and Ty Johnson do that.  We have room for a WR.

for better and worse- he’s playing like a guy that doesn’t need the money

the blessing- if you can tap into his love of the game and reason to show up…. You find a stud potentially. Physical gifts. Tremendous pedigree.

the curse- unlike the guy that didn’t want to get stuck on a pistachio farm after flunking out of the nfl…. If this guy gets bored he has relatively no consequences.

if you get him cheap an he wants to make the eagles look dumb- awesome… but kind of like George Pickens I’m more eager to get a year or two cheap and deal him and not be the guy giving him big guaranteed dollars. Get in and get out quick and if he shows anything it’s like a free rental.

Couple things.

Is he a bust?  Would you want him?  Be mad if New England did?

And, would he be an upgrade over Keon - that is a serious question.  Im not so sure - if Keon is emerging thru the adversity he’s dealt with here there is something to be said about that and he just might be a good fit for what we’re doing.  3rd year breakout could be in progress with him.

But what’s happening here in Arizona is a significant developing situation and if it continues and they lose games trade talk is going to heat up come mid October.  Maybe it’s just the 2 defenses they faced but none of this looks good.  Plenty of film shows he’s not going full speed.  But there is a lot of film of him getting open.

My take is Brissett is awful and either checks down to McBride or just trusts Wilson and is his first read every time.

He reminds me of Sammy Watkins in his current trajectory...

Watkins was seen as the surefire best WR in 2014. He was the first WR off the board going 4th overall... over guys like Mike Evans, Odell Beckham Jr, Brandin Cooks, Davante Adams, Jarvis Landry, etc... all of whom had better careers than him.

Watkins had a couple solid - good seasons in Buffalo, but then injuries & lack of effort slowly sunk him. Even trading him to better teams didn't do much to change things. He played for McVay & the Rams, then was trade to KC to play with Mahomes & Reid. That was only his 5th season... then he played 2 more seasons with them & still didn't break out.

If playing with Mahomes, Kelce & Tyreek Hill wasn't enough to get you motivated, nothing would be. Marvin Harrison Jr. needs to get his head in the game or risk becoming a mid tier WR, regardless of where he plays.

That looks like a guy who knows he isn't getting the football.

Kind of makes you think about Palmer and his couple of "love of the game" routes where he's not the read at all, but because of who the Bills have at QB the ball might find you at any time. Which makes you wonder, what if that was the case for MHJ.

That said, he's been deeply devalued at this point. No way should a GM give a premium asset, nor would I expect Beane to take a flyer replacing a guy that's on the roster right now after the Jamarcus Ingram thing. But in a Cooks situation down the line where there is a roster vacancy and a minimal price?
