I don’t think we would be an ideal situation because he would be expected to perform ASAP and he seems to be a bit psychologically broken. But the Raiders should be all over this. A growing team with a young QB waiting in the wings that has good coaching and doesn’t have realistic Super Bowl expectations. He could rebuild his reputation and become Mendoza’s #1 option. I think The Raiders probably are in a decent position to "take a chance" tossing out a 3rd swapped for a 5th for MHJ. But I also think that you have to evaluate if he is going to mess up the mojo of a locker room. Quote
Bad Things Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I'd take a flyer him. If my memory serves me right, he was considered a very hard worker in college. Maybe it's just a poor culture thing in Arizona. Quote

I am trying to make the point that ignoring the physical gifts that made Marvin Harrison Jr a top 5 pick in the draft because he has played 2 full years in the NFL with bum quarterbacks is senseless. Because he has the physical gifts that got him drafted high he will likely get more shots than someone drafted in the 5th round who is playing his way out of the league. There is a reason he was picked 4th overall. And that doesn't just dissappear after 2 years in the league. Your bring up Tebow who was the 25th overall pick and had major question marks about his throwing motion. This isnt the same as Tim Tebow. Not to mention QBs have one legit shot to be a franchise QB until they are either out of the league for good or a backup. Wideouts get more opportunities because there is more than one spot for them on the field. Marv Jr. May never be any good. Thats fine. My point is the raw talent he possesses, the things that made him a top draft pick will be the reasons he continues to get chances even as some teams #3. 12 hours ago, YoloinOhio said: Interestingly he was only a 4 star recruit, not hyped much compared to other 5 star WRs that came in, and far exceeded expectations at Ohio state. When an NFL front office exec says MHJ isn’t fast or physical the question is how truly talented and gifted he really is. Many people seem unaware that MHJ did not participate in any on-field workouts, drills, or testing ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. In addition, he did not do any private workouts for any teams. He basically has never been objectively tested or timed since at least high school. There’s actually a real possibility that he’s not that great an athlete. 2 Quote

He reached 22.2 mph during an actual football game while at Ohio State. He didnt score 31 touchdowns in three years in college, a college where he played elite competition, by maybe not being a great athlete. Question the guys heart all you want but this nonsense about him not being a great athlete is a bad take. If the Cadinals decide to trade him half the league will line up to send them picks. 2 Quote

Top speed is one of many measures. Based on all the smoke I imagine the Cards have already made it known he's available. We shall see what the NFL thinks of him based on what kind of market forms. 1 Quote

It's "possible" that he is so unhappy with losing in Arizona that he's just shut down and that he wouldn't be the same mopey Eeyore if he was in Jacksonville. But even if that is the case, I'm not overexcited about the idea of bringing in a guy that quits like that when things aren't going his way. A lot of us are like that - the not overexcited about a guy who quits thing. Yet if the Bills got him that would change for me in an instant! There is a growing resume of disgruntled diva WRs making an impact at their next stop - see G Pickens and our very own S Diggs. After the first episode - ie AZ for MHJ, the second stop is extremely important and generally brings out very good behavior. MHJ > BTJ, and the possibilty of getting MHJ is greater (different conference and non threat. And I would think MHJ would love to come to Buffalo. Quote

Both Pickins and Diggs had 1,000 yard seasons on their previous teams. Both were traded due to personality, not production. MHJ is, at this point, amongst the biggest busts in recent history. 2 1 Quote

That makes Marvin Junior even more disappointing Quote
dcinmuncie Posted October 4 Posted October 4 sorry to derail the thread, but i remember wanting his dad so bad to be drafted by us and was so disappointed he didn't fall to us. Got Moulds instead which is a nice consolation prize. Quote

He's saying that a big receiver in the NFL has to be rugged/tough. And that he has a couple of sources who've said that's the main problem. They say he works unbelievably hard, that he's a good kid. Just not tough. "Who can get through to him on the toughness thing?" he asks? Take it for what you will. 1 Quote

I could buy some of that and I’ll wonder if he’s more eager to take a hit when you aren’t on a 5 win team with leadership that takes the price of postage out of mailing you your signing bonus and counts how many Gatorades you take out of the cafeteria 1 Quote
Nihilarian Posted October 4 Posted October 4 The NFL is a completely different world from college, where he might have been elite and had great skills. Now, in the NFL, he might just be another guy and needs to give 100% if he wants to compete at a high level. So far, he has shown that he doesn't want to give his best despite being paid millions of dollars to do so. Hey, he might be another George Pickens or a waste of space. Marvin Harrison Jr. is being paid a total of $35,374,742 guaranteed over four years on his rookie contract with the Arizona Cardinals, averaging $8,843,686 per year Larry Fitzgerald went to a bad Cardinals team and made the best of his situation by becoming one of the best WRs in the league. Seventeen years and many Pro Bowls later, HoF career. Anquan Bolden is another guy drafted by that franchise who played his best despite being on a bad team. Quote
YoloinOhio Posted October 4 Posted October 4 In shocking fashion he apparently can still play football. Just caught a TD. 1 Quote

Toughness is something you're either born with or you're not If that's his problem well it's going to remain a problem and he's never going to get over the hump You're either tough as nails or not.. there's no amount of training you're working out that makes you tougher It's intrinsic Quote

Tons of promise and ability but struck me as a guy who wasn’t going to put the time or effort in to be great. His dad was also a low key lunatic. He was quiet and amazingly talented but Marvin Sr was a bit of a scary dude. I think this is pretty unfair, and using the power of hindsight. These athletes are advised by guys agents hire to evaluate this kinda thing. And if a guy is already known to be going like top 5 in draft, theres no reason to do things that could potentially hurt your draft positioning. Its a risk/reward decision. Runninh those drills wasnt going to improve his draft status, but a bad workout on an off day can hurt him. The upside: none Downside: potentially knock him down the board past #4 overall Thats literally all it is, and like someone who ignores their doctor or attorneys advice.... it takes a dummy... and a dummy would ignore their agents advice, and the professionals advising the agent. Its a nothing burger Quote
HappyDays Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Starting to seriously think about making this trade and letting Palmer go. He has two TD catches on clear out routes and otherwise is nonexistent. We could use more there especially if Moore's shoulder has been aggravated 1 Quote

He had a 35yd drop today on 3rd and 3! Also we are always on the verge of Kincaid getting hurt. One bad break away from no Moore or Kincaid. We have SB aspirations!
