With 10 days to prepare I expect the defense to be much improved. You know the Chargers are coming in thinking they will pass all over us. I see at least 2 interceptions Sunday.

Inevitably, there will be games when the offense sucks. My hope is the defense can bail them out. Or, at least keep it close enough for the offense to win it on the final possession.

The bills defense has been playing significantly less man coverage than lots here thought

Bills ran more man last year than they have through these 3 games ..

It's a combo zone match scheme ... Not a lot of pure man across the board.. he wants to confuse pre snap

Still a lot to improve, just the basics. Tasker said on one of Chargers 3rd and 4, the Bills had only 10 players on the field and Herbert threw out of bounds targeting McConkey. Tasker's the side line reporter.

He also mentioned and I remember the play, maybe Rousseau's first sack, the Bills didn't get the backend communications right - Bishop and Bernard were still gesturing communicating when the Chargers snapped the ball. The sack covered up the issue but ...

If I had to give the defense a letter grade for each week.

Week 1- D Only salvaged by a clutch play late in the game and a first half turnover that led to points.

Week 2- C+ Mostly good when the game was in doubt, gave up 7 points in garbage time, would have been a B- had they closed out that game on that 4th and 18 thus saving the offense and defense snaps on the field.

Week 3- A Very strong effort against a beat up team and with an offense that hung them out to dry.

Qualitatively the defense week to week has seemingly gotten more organized and less "scrambly". Week 1 the defense just looked to be a complete mess. Week 2 there were still some rough edges but less chaotic disorganization. Week 3 there were a few scrambly moments but overall a lot tighter.

So with another week of experience and some more tape I suspect a week 4 performance to be very strong.

He's right. It was actually 3rd and 3, and was the play where Herbert threw deep to McConkey down the sideline. The Bills had ten men, and given the fact that four LBs but only one DT was on the field, I have to assume that someone from that group didn't rotate in when they were supposed to. But Herbert missed the throw and Dicker missed the FG on the very next play. Herbert was locked in on McConkey from the snap, and when he saw single coverage he just let it fly. But if he had looked, the RD Vidal was WIDE OPEN for the first out of the backfield.

I’m still waiting for the exotic blitz and pressure D to show up.

We’ve been giving up way too many easy short to medium throws

Bills secondary is scary bad. Anyone who wants to tell me Hairston was a good draft pick, please explain. When he’s injured he’s awful. How can the Patriots, who couldn’t complete a pass against the Jags, just march down the field with wide open receivers 4 or 5 times on our defense. Leonard’s pass defense is not acceptable and offenses on our schedule will lick their chops to face us.

For four games in the row, Jim Leonard's post-mortem was (will be): "We didn't play well, but the future looks bright with a just a few tweaks"

I'm not falling for that line four consecutive times.

Every DB looks 3 yards too slow.

I thought we were playing with aggressive corners close to the WR?!?!

Super underwhelmed so far other  than the Dline

Jim Leonard so far has not been impressive.  That 4th and 3 where Hairston was 8 yards of Doubs was unconscionable.

I can accept being beaten if we play man up and they just beat our guy with a good play, but what I cannot accept is just allowing them to play pitch and catch on a crucial 4th down.

Too often until the very end there was no urgency to force a play, and that’s unacceptable.

Look at this play from Hairston.  He totally gave up and if he had come in like a torpedo it for sure would have led to him coming up 2 yards short.

Im serious, I’ve seen enough from IGB to see that he’s the better player.  Would much rather have him playing opposite to Benford.

what an awful awful effort play when the game was on the line .
