Mikie2times Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Football can be pretty crazy. if Houston catches that ball we lose this game. They should have, they didn’t. Otherwise Allen was elite. He had been successful on a lot of one on one throws, I just don’t think you can force that to Palmer. A jump ball guy, sure. But Palmer is not that. Does anybody know anything further on this play? Was it brought up post game? Hoping to find out it was a miscommunication on the route or something else. I get why Josh wanted 6 so badly. It was likely the only way to win that game without kicking with no time left. Still, from what I know at this time it looked like a near catastrophic error. The kind you hope to just not see. 2 1 Quote

That's just a fire drill Josh is throwing it to a spot .. Palmer wasn't thinking the same thing The route wasn't wrong that was a fire drill where you're throwing it to an area and it's all being on the same page They were in fact not on the right page 2 3 4 Quote

My take: Allen was awesome overall, but the turnover gods were very, very kind to the Bills today too: the Bills had by my count 4 turnover-worthy plays plus a tipped pass that turned into a pop fly late in the game - the sort of play that often results in an INT. But they had no turnovers. 1 - pass at the one to shakir (stupid play call; just sneak it into the EZ). Should have been picked. 2 - deep out to moore on second last possession could have been picked; the houston db clearly had a chance to make a play on the ball but decided to block it. 3 - Cook fumble 4 - penultimate throw by josh that was dropped by lassiter in the end zone. Should have been picked. 4 1 7 1 Quote

eball Posted September 14 Posted September 14 There were still nearly 2:00 on the clock and Bills had 3 timeouts, so it absolutely would not have been a “game losing” play. As others noted, clearly there was miscommunication between Allen and Palmer. We got lucky. 1 1 5 2 Quote

They did ask Josh in his presser. It's as Buffalo 716 said. He was throwing to a spot and, he said he guessed the wrong spot. 2 1 2 Quote
billsbackto81 Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Haven't given it much thought honestly. Yeah, it may have been intercepted. I won't say should've because it did seem like a fairly difficult catch. Miscommunication happens, we caught a break for once. Gave more thought to the Cook fumble earlier, and that was in Bills territory. 1 Quote
Ralonzo Posted September 14 Posted September 14 It was single coverage and Josh giving his guy a chance to make the play. Which he didn't even try to make. Of course Josh being the trusting yellow lab he is goes right back to the guy, and the rest is history. And we can look forward to a week of Lamer and Drake Meh bots posting that play across the interwebs. 4 2 Quote

But sure, that was possible. Does that make the play better for you? 3 1 Quote
Bruffalo Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Sometimes you need to be more lucky than good. Fortunately for us, Allen got lucky and is the best QB in the NFL. Both things can be true. 7 1 Quote

Does that make the play better for you? That’s not true; there were four drives the Bills held Houston to 4 plays or fewer. It’s not about making the play “better” — like I said, we got lucky the Houston DB didn’t catch it. 5 Quote

Looked just like the Pats/Seahawks Super Bowl, glad he learned his lesson week 1 and didn’t have to end io like Pete Carrol. 2 3 Quote
sven233 Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Thoughts? It's football. Simple as that. Sometimes the bounces go your way, sometimes they don't. Look, in every football game ever played, you can always leave it say "but, what if....." Every game. Win or loss. And it's not just the obvious plays. I mean, what if Kincaid doesn't climb the ladder and catch that ball from Josh? What if the refs don't call some on some of those borderline calls on defense? What if the Bills don't have 12 guys in the huddle on a potential 4th down attempt? What if Dawkins gets a block on the CB on the first 4th down where Allen had a ton of grass in front of him? You can go on and on. Point is, there are a lot of things that happen in a football game that affect the outcome. Some of those things are remembered more than others because of the situation and moment of the game, but they all add up to the end results of the game. But that's football. That's why these guys will go home, look at the film, practice to clean up the mistakes that were made, and get back at it on Thursday. Hopefully, they limit the mistakes and put themselves in a position to win again on Thursday. 3 1 1 13 Quote

Actually, it was 6 out of 11 possessions that were 4 plays or less. Of the other 5 possessions, 4 of them were 10 plays or more. Only 1 of their 11 possessions was between 4 and 10 plays long. 5 1 Quote
