Bad Things Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) What have you done to help the Buffalo Bills win it all? Good karma and paying it forward. Every year, my wife and I like to escape the cold New Zealand winter and head up to the warm waters in the South Pacific islands. We’ve visited quite a few of the islands over the years, but our go-to destination is the Cook Islands. For those who haven’t been, the Cook Islands are a group of 15 tiny islands/atolls scattered across the vast, cobalt-blue stretch of the Pacific, somewhere between Tahiti and Samoa/Tonga. The main island, Rarotonga, has a great vibrant community, and years ago we stumbled across a burger joint there called Vili’s. Ever since, we’ve made it a point to stop in whenever we’re on Rarotonga and fill our bellies with Vili's. They make simple burgers, but damn, are they good. A couple of months ago, I saw a post on Facebook from Vili announcing that he was opening a sports pub next door to the burger joint. He mentioned that he hoped to eventually cover the walls with sports memorabilia, and, as luck would have it, the opening was going to take place while we were there on this year’s trip. I immediately knew this was my opportunity to spread a little Bills love around the South Pacific. I ordered an old-school Bruce Smith jersey (Bad Things) and a small metal Buffalo Bills sign, wrapped them up, and brought them along to give to Vili for his new pub. On our first day on the island, my wife and I hopped on our little rental scooter and headed over to Vili’s for feed. Sure enough, there was Vili sitting in a corner booth in his brand-new pub. I walked over, put the wrapped gift in front of him, and told him it was for the new sports bar. He was ecstatic. He couldn’t believe someone from overseas would bring him a gift like this for his pub. He told me he was going to have the jersey framed and put in a prominent spot where everyone could see it. Before we flew off to another island, a couple weeks later, we stopped back at Vili’s to see if the jersey had made it onto the wall yet. It hadn’t been framed yet, but it was already hanging behind the bar. And the Bills sign? Vili had already drilled that sucker into the wall — right where everyone has to stand to pay. Perfect! Having moved away from upstate New York back in 1990, I know we may not have the biggest fanbase in the world. But I also know one thing about Bills fans: Bills fans travel, and they keep their eyes wide open for other Bills fans. I get a huge kick out of thinking that someday, some random Bills fan from Buffalo — or anywhere else — is going to find themselves on this little island in the middle of the South Pacific, wander into Vili’s for a burger and a beer, and suddenly spot a Bruce Smith jersey hanging on the wall. Maybe they’ll wonder how the hell it got there. That’s the whole point. Pay it forward. So, with that said... What have the rest of you done to help the Bills win the big one this year? 😜 Let’s go, Buffalo! (Vili promised me to send me a photo of the jersey once it's framed, and I'll be sure to update this post when I receive it.) Edited September 19 by Bad Things 2 14 1 Quote
HardyBoy Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I bought this bills flag with phish donuts inside the logo, just waiting for it to show up... I'm beyond pumped I was actually able to get my hands on one...I could find one either of the last two years when I was looking 2 1 Quote
Wizard Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I am supporting the Bills this year by promoting Fandom in both English and Spanish! 3 Quote
Psautcsk Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I wore my Bruce Smith jersey to the school I work at yesterday and told the kids that Drake Maye throw the ball to the other team quite a bit this year. I just put out my new Bills lawn flag here in NH. 3 2 Quote

I can donate a Kelly or Allen jersey. Just send me an address on a PM. Happy to do it. I’d love to be part of helping a new sports bar become a Bills backer bar. What a great story. 1 1 Quote
Bferra13 Posted September 11 Posted September 11 That's awesome man... Incredible story, love it! I did my part by buying 1800 dollar (for the pair) opener tickets lol. But I'm taking my buddy who literally cried when I told him hes coming for free. That's worth it right there to me. 2 Quote
NoHuddleKelly12 Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Ordered this in poster size…an immediately iconic buffalo print if ever there was one imho…(courtesy of Thomas Murphy photography, who’s spent like 40 years snapping pics of these proud beasts in Yellowstone). Not sure how this helps our Bills win it all but I just had to LAMP 🚨🤓 2 2 Quote

Dr.Sack Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I learned that it is nearly impossible to be as bad on a points per drive basis than the 2020 to 2025 Bills defense in playoff losses. God awful. Quote

Now I have to repeat and place another below for my Bills. See, my neighbor a few doors down just put up a Patriots flag. It’s funny they changed out his American flag with the Pats. Those are fighting words, but I won’t take down the American flag. I’ll just get another one. 1 1 Quote

Have always wanted to go back to the South Pacific but it’s obviously a bit of a haul and tough to pull off once a kid is in the picture. Once ours is off to college, if we’re still around and able to, we plan on going back for a big trip and the Cook Islands / Rarotonga are definitely on the list! Quote

See I did the exact opposite, I opted out of getting season tickets for the first time in 15 years Knowing my luck, this will be the year they get a Home AFC Championship game and make it to the Super Bowl for sure 1 Quote

You broke Google Maps by too many searching for 'Rarotonga'. 😁 * Noticed that Vili's Burger Joint gets a large number of great reviews. 1 Quote
blacklabel Posted September 12 Posted September 12 (edited) I tied Patrick Mahomes' shoelaces together. Hid Lamar Jackson's car keys. Stole all of Drake Maye's boy scout badges, he'll be far too distraught to ever play again. Strategically placed Legos in the walkways of all opposing teams locker rooms. Bums gonna suffer from da dreaded Legofoot all season. But for this week specifically, I told all four of Will Anderson's sisters he been talking crap about them. Game time gonna be rolling around on Sunday, Coach Ryans gonna be like, "Where's Will?" I'll tell you where he is, locked in the closet by his four sisters, far far away and unable to hurt our precious Josh ever again. Oh, you're all welcome. Go Bills. fasteddie Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I gave up my season tickets after 42 years. I figured out that it must be me because I am the most unlucky person in the world. Of all the sports team that I root for, I've only had 4 championships in that time. You're welcome! Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 12 Posted September 12 I have about 1000 superstitions that singularly cause the Bills to win games. It’s a lot of work, but a price that I must pay for a win. Quote
MiltonWaddams Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Tattooed a Buffalo on my forearm. Not a Bills logo or a traditional one. Tradition needed to be broken Quote
