TheBrownBear Posted September 9 Posted September 9 She looked off during her first set last night against Navarro but managed to turn it around. Sabalenka is a whole nother mountain to climb. 2 Quote

Sabalenka is a whole nother mountain to climb. Navarro was playing very very well last night. It took a strong effort for JP to win last night. Also, the Shelton -Alcaraz was a cracker. Too bad I had to go to bed after the first set. 3 Quote

She always loses to Sabalenka in these big matches, she's a cyborg. This is like Jess Pegula's version of playing Kansas City in the playoffs. But good luck to her...might as well pull the upset now, she is not getting any younger and needs to seize the moment. 1 2 Quote
US Egg Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Kind of impressive; she’s the oldest woman in the Open era to reach multiple major semifinals in a year for the first time in her career. Don’t watch tennis much, but been catching a fair amount of the Open, seems there’s a lot more ‘solid’ women players. 🫢 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 9 Posted September 9 She was clutch down the stretch. just hate how she runs into Sabalenka every time. I know she has beaten her, but at these majors, it seems like she has no chance against her. 1 1 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I have been watching...would love to see Jessica break through and win the big one! I'm sure they would bring her out onto the field at the home opener if it happens For anybody who hasn't seen this yet here's a nice interview Josh Allen did with Jessie and some of her tennis friends. Was a more enjoyable watch than I was expecting Anyways Go Jessie Good Luck in the Semi-Finals tomorrow 🎾🎾🎾 5 1 Quote
DaVinci Posted September 9 Posted September 9 It's so frustrating to see her battle to get to this point only to flame out. I hope she can find another level here. 1 Quote

I totally dislike Sabalenka due to her poor sports(wo)manship. Her comments after losing to Gauff were downright disrespectful. On the other hand, there is much to like about JP. I root for her due to - calm demeanour, non-controversial personality, persistence over the years, smooth game and of course the Bills connection. Go JP ! 2 1 Quote
billsfan89 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Rooting for Jessica both for the Bills connection and the USA connection. For Jessica winning a major is something she has never done but she is also really wanting to be ranked number one in the world. If she wins the US Open and one of the other girls (I think the woman currently ranked second) doesn't make it to the Finals Jessica can accomplish both being ranked number one and taking home her first major title would tick off two tremendous accomplishments for her. She also is great about how she really wants to be number one as a tremendous career goal. So I have to admire her for not being faux modest. 1 Quote
Steve O Posted September 9 Posted September 9 While Jess is 4-9 lifetime vs Sabalenka, she has won 2 of the last 3 meetings, including a 6-0 win in the decisive third set in June. Meaningless, but at least it should give her a good mindset. 4 3 Quote

A 1 v 3 in the semis is BS, eball. What happened to the appropriate bracket world we used to live in where 1 played 4 and 2 played 3 in the semis? I don't even want to live anymore.* (* Just written for effect) Edited September 9 by dollars 2 donuts 1 Quote
Charles Romes Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Yeah it seems not once during any of these numerous runs to a quarter final or beyond has any of the top seeds been cleared out for her. She is always running into number 1. 2 Quote
BillsPride12 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 It's cool to see so many Bills fans are following her I was never into Tennis at any point in my life but have some close family friends that are big Tennis people and a few years back they got me out a few times and I enjoyed it and it was around the same time as Jessica's career took off and I initially started watching her because of the Bills connection but over time I started to become a legitimate fan of hers and have gotten to be familiar with some of the main competition(Sabalenka, Coco Gauff etc.) Now when the big tourneys are on it's something I look forward to and really enjoy watching. I never would have believed it if you told me 10 years ago I would become a women's tennis fan 🤣 Quote

In 2023 she was the 3 seed, 1 and 2 were already knocked out, and she lost to the 24 seed in the quarters. 2026 Wimbledon, she was the 4 seed and 1-3 were already out when she lost to the 7 seed in the quarters. Dillenger4 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I watched the whole match last night. Jess was powerful! Navarro was also powerful. GREAT match! I think Jess will make tomorrow's semi a tough game! GO JESS! Quote

I’ve never seen a deviation from 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 in any sport. What’s the reasoning? 1 Quote
