Gregg Posted September 8 Posted September 8 https://nypost.com/2026/09/08/sports/darius-slayton-says-goodbye-to-giants-with-suitors-already-showing-interest/ I wonder if Beane is looking into this. 1 1 Quote
GunnerBill Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Never had any interest in him. His production was largely a result of lack of alternatives for the Giants not because he is particularly good. 1 2 Quote
DJB Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) I’ve heard of him. GET R DUN Edited September 8 by DJB 3 1 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Not interested. 28 and his production is down over the last two years. If he wants to come to the practice squad great. If not roll on with what you have. 4 Quote
4merper4mer Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Is this 2019? If so go get him, adjust the time machine one more time and get Simeon Rice. All set. 1 Quote

Dillenger4 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 He has an issue with the dropsies - but if can fix that, he would be an OK WR. Quote

He's a field stretcher, so really I don't think he has a one to one replacement. He has virtually no background on special teams. So looking into who he would replace: Moore- Nope. No way. Coleman- They want to set Coleman up to succeed. He's not being replaced. Shakir- Slayton isn't known to be a slot guy Palmer- being both work on the outside and neither really plays teams this would be the most likely. Bell- No way they cut ties so soon. Slayton does have a similar skill set to Bell. Not to mention we still have Shavers that may be back at some point and Cooks may or may not be part of a contingency plan if we need WRs. We also have a few guys already on the PS that I'd like to see groomed. My thought process is that I don't think he's even able to be rostered on PS due to him having to take a vet spot. Ok, maybe I'd move him on the PS to get Geno Stone off. But heck, I'd rather roster anyone on this board than Geno Stone...even on the PS. 1 Quote
Bruffalo Posted September 8 Posted September 8 He would be excellent on the practice squad to call up if we have an injury, but I expect he'll get offers to join some other team's 53. 2 Quote

At this point everyone has guys they want to wait and see on at the 4/5. He could definitely start for miami, but i don't think that makes sense for them to even bother. Also, Like 30 guys get drafted every year and at 28 thats a lot of guys who are trying to win roles. Injuries will happen and someone will probably poke around. 1 Quote
skibum Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Why do we always think another team's trash could be our treasure? Quote
billsfan89 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 He's only 29 will be 30 in January. So age wise he isn't a problem. But while he's been a productive WR for a bad team I would also say the Bills don't get much of an upgrade here. Coming off some injuries too. I would pass. Quote

A "healthy" Gabe davis. Whomever. There's a bunch of these players out there. They have a purpose, but they are who they are. You aren't unlocking their potential any longer. And the players that they are, have major flaws with age and injuries . At the time paying palmer was adding a mid-tier free agent WR to a poor WR room to see if he could do more with more snaps. He promptly got hurt, was replaced by moore this year and will now likely lose snaps to coleman. He will be a low-priority free agent when his time in buffalo is done, much the same as slayton. He blocks, he's got some skills that can help a team in a pinch, but teams aren't going to commit dollars and term to you. 1 Quote
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Logic says: "No." Past practice says: "Whatever he made with the last team, plus a healthy percentage above that..." * 🤔🤨 58 minutes ago, skibum said: Why do we always think another team's trash could be our treasure? A GM who hasn't minded paying for bargain basement hope at a premium price. A coach who clapped a lot. We'll see what 2026-27 brings. Quote

Why would he? Who does he replace? There is not a roster spot for him really, the only guy he could replace is Trent, but Trent has a ton of value on ST as a major contributor there. I can't see us having any interest. 2 1 Quote

Doubtful, but it brought me to a little side adventure, when I was going to check his production on profootballreference.... Slayton is not listed here but his Receiving Success% is like 54% Heres what that stat is: A successful rec gains at least: 1. 40% of yards needed on 1st down 2. 60% of yards on 3nd down 3. 100% of yards on 3rd down Puka, no surprise, lead the league..... #2? Kayshon Boutte, who was just available. That's a wild combo, for a deep ball guy like that, he's 15% higher Success Rate, while finishing 4th in Y/R: 16.7yards An Efficient deep ball guy, is not something you see a lot! Finished 7th in NFL that year. If I could add any former Bill of the last 8 years to this team, I thinks it's Cole! (Diggs it too easy of an answer, so I skipped him) Adding a 2020 Cole Beasley to the team, would be like a 2nd effective run game through the air. Absolutely devastating guy to have on 3rd down. 53 First Downs... on 82 recs, only 107 Targets Quote
