machine gun kelly Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Alright TB, the one I like not TB 32. Allen, Bernard, and Reid. I’m out. One for each category. Reid deserves it after all these years. He’s been a steal, worth and most likely has the respect of the entire team. Whether we like Bernard or not, he wears the green dot. Allen is the undisputed leader of the team. 1 Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted September 4 Posted September 4 (edited) I think Chubb will be a captain. I don’t think they’ll do just 2 anymore. I’ll say: Allen, McGovern, Reid Ferguson, Chubb and Bernard. If we go a little deeper Dawkins, CJGJ, Knox, and Sam Franklin would be my next guys. Edited September 4 by Kirby Jackson 3 Quote

Allen is the undisputed leader of the team. The green dot is important. But does he inspire others? CJGJ is the attitude we need and Benford is the example for all to follow i feel like that is a perfect combination Just now, Kirby Jackson said: I think Chubb will be a captain. Chubb could be for sure. I think after boss last year the expectations are sooo low that there has been very little coverage of Chubb Good call Quote

Here my thoughts on why -He had a fire and edge thus defense has needed for a long long time -reports out of camp were he was the best player on the field (locked on Joe marino) -he was actively involved in camp with coaches and players and thays leadership(locked on) -has a goal of retiring here in several years and that tells me his desire to be a team guy is there I know hes not an obvious choice but I think all those factors are why he just might have the C 8 hours ago, NickelCity said: I wonder if it'll just be Allen and Chubb. BearNorth Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Last season is was just the two captains. I think it will be Josh and Bernard [the green dot]. CB's and S's usually have the highest snap count of the defenders as DE's, DL's and some LB's[nickel & dime] tend to be rotated. O'Cyrus led the Offense in snaps, followed by McGovern and the now departed Edwards, then Josh. Defensively Bishop led in snaps followed by Benford and [surprisingly] Tre White. Special Teams, Buffalo Joe led in snaps, followed by the now departed Gilliam and Sam Franklin. 1 Quote

dhg Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Im going with... Josh Bernard Oliver Dawkins My wildcard is Bass. Only because I think they'll want special teams represented Quote
BlueRed Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I think Dawson Knox and Spencer Brown would be good captain additions to Josh on offense. Defense is harder to pick - Chubb makes a lot of sense as does Benford. Quote

quincy Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I will go for two players per speciality. There are definitely more players that are worthy of being chosen as captain but a limit has to be drawn somewhere. Josh Allen and Dion Dawkins Terrel Bernard and Michael Hoecht Reid Ferguson and Sam Franklin If he was on the 53 you'd want Shaq Thompson for sure. Quote

He arrived, played 2 games after serving a suspension for PEDs and promptly blew out his Achilles! Quote

Yes, last year in the limited time he did play he was a difference maker and as you know he is lauded as a smart player "coach on the field" type of guy. Obviously you disagree. If the PED issue from last year automatically eliminates him from consideration then I'd understand completely. Quote
Cash Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Good thread! I liked the move two years ago of just doing the 2 captains. It made a lot of sense given the roster turnover, and how many former captains they’d lost. I did not like when they ran it back last year. Like a lot of things last year, it felt like trying to just keep the magic going - but a new season can’t just be a continuation of the old one. So I’m hoping they go back to a normal amount of captains. I like having 2 each on offense, defense, and special teams. This is more who I would pick than an actual prediction, but here goes: Offense: Allen and Dawkins or maybe Spencer Brown Defense: Bernard and… Chubb? Supposedly he’s been bringing a lot of leadership. Teams: Reid Ferguson and Sam Franklin 1 1 Quote

Obviously you disagree. If the PED issue from last year automatically eliminates him from consideration then I'd understand completely. It's the PEDs and the fact that he played 2 games. He wasn't a difference maker--the Bills beat up on Andy Dalton and a terrible Carolina Offense and then beat a Chief's team (in week 9) that would go on to win only one more game and finish the rest of the season 1-7. "Smart player" who couldn't figure out how not to get busted for PEDs. That's a rare form of NFL intelligence. Quote
