Dang, why is this board so dead lol kinda blown away theres zero folks on here.  Thanks for the link bro, about to watch this!

It's true about the board. There's nothing to discuss.

Part of the problem is that the NFL changed its calendar, so we have this two-week period between cuts and the start of the season. There are no preseason games to watch, no reports from camp, essentially no news at all.  Without any news, we're left to discuss the things we've already discussed to death: the receiver room, the change in the defense, McDermott vs. Beane, and Josh's baby.

A soft piece on Max Hairston isn't what we need right now.

It'll pick up in a week.

This intrigued me, so I did a little searching (now that I'm on my second cup of coffee).  Up until 2000, the league incorporated Labor Day Weekend into their schedule launch.  Ratings were less than anticipated, as folks were apparently still out on the boat or in front of the barbecue.  Since ratings are the goose that lays the golden eggs, I don't anticipate Labor Day games to return.

Speaking from Whites Bay...?  I'm ready to get this show on the road!  At least the season opener is on Wednesday, and ought to be an interesting rematch.  Hope the Pats* get re-stomped.

You forgot GrassGate. Timmah Graham has taken up that crusade.

I was thinking about it the other day. The conversation in the offseason is just so much more interesting than in season. I’m glad football is here but the next few months of, “I can’t believe that they ran on 2nd and 10 on the first drive of the second quarter in week 4” is exhausting.

The game week threads are fun for the most part. I stay away from this place like the plague on gamedays, however...

Great to see a loving, supportive family. Hopefully Max stays healthy, stays on the right path and reaches his potential.

As an aside, I heard a discussion about the NBA draft. And how, as youth sports have become more expensive, the green room is overwhelmingly filled by two parent homes many being rich ex players. There seem to be fewer examples of grew up in poverty, and had to fight my way out through sports.

does this seem like a thing to anyone else?

Yeah. In the last decade or two, there’s been a shift in big time youth sports from developing talent to making money. Both were always priorities, but they flipped in importance.

What’s wild is hearing all time NFL greats say that they weren’t the best in their neighborhood, that there was someone even better, faster, but that person didn’t make it out for whatever reasons. Lots of wasted talent and potential.
